Just wouldn't shoot a button this time of season. This is my opinion and I'm not bashing enjoy the meat it will be great.

5 came in . 1 was a fawn. After the whiff on big buck last night I picked the best shot .The biggest 2 didn’t give me a clean shot. Well enjoy eating this venison for sure. 1 more for the freezer would be ideal.

Wrap up . 6 deer, 5 bucks in an hour and a half 3 shooters if you count the half rack , and one other I’d probably shot at this point . Two were absolute slobs , big bodies racks tall and well outside the ears , the half rack was at one Time a good 8pt,  the right side was outside that ear .

When  I saw the half , I wanted to think it through before he was in range . Many would say, he made it this far , and next year he’ll be bigger and have both sides , so hold off . After a few seconds I thought if he comes another 20 yards he’s jerky and  chili !  There’s plenty of big ones letting him go isn’t that big a deal . It was so nice , my spot hunted like it always does, after a total sh!t show of a season .

This was my last hunt .... now I  thinking tomorrow, but she just mentioned shopping and dinner  out , “ unless “ I want to hunt . I’ll have to tread lightly on this . May even let her beat me in Jeopardy.

Say it with me The_Real_TCIII knows about deer movement AFTER the snow.

I let one fly at a doe at 35 yards earlier. Hit her back-she was walking slowly and I decided to not try and stop her as they have been quite jittery as of late. Hindsight that seems like a mistake.
After finding my arrow (below) that passed through but fell out 25 yards after hit and talking to the guy who manages the program we decide I should follow the tracks and see what happens. 200 yards later I jump her from a bed. She looks unfortunately strong. I will head back around 9:00 tonight to see what I got.

The fresh tracking snow makes everything in this situation better; tracking AND dragging. :)

Good luck......

Thinking about going out with muzzleloader  in the am .. need to get away for a bit ... lost my mother Friday.  Have spent the last 2 weeks running between work and sitting with her. Just burned out I guess.  Would love to get another deer .
Sorry to hear that man. I lost my father in October. Time in the woods helped me clear my head a little. Hope it helps you too

I'm glad we had that rendezvous at your sugar shack PRIOR to hunting season...... :)

Im sure that nutty little concoction was delicious but the lasagna you made was superb.

Pass the pasta Vinny.......

Yeah I'm about 30 minutes east of you along route 23, I might be a little higher elevation so totals might be more, I hope not.

I'm not far from 23 in oxford/norwich area.  We got alot of snow but its light.  I got about 32-38 depending on how the wind was blowing.   Biggest issue was where they plowed the road it was just above the bottom of my windows on my truck at my driveway.

This was behind my house. Our buck to doe ratio is way out of whack, so TF was sent on a management hunt. He did what was asked of him, which isn't always easy, but it needed to be done.

What ya thinking......liver and a bit of lung.
Spray looks good but the snow will definitely make it look like there is more. Seems dark red........that is a dead deer if you give her time.

In case you didn’t get my text, that spot is under 5 miles from my house. If you think it’s a buck, I’ll gladly come help track. But If you’re 100% sure it’s doe, I politely rescind my offer.
