I used to watch it for a long time but it got really old after awhile. Script is always the same, find little things to keep you interested. Finally I figured if they did find something amazing I’d hear it in the news first and then I’d watch the episodes a yr later when they finally air!

About 10 years ago we were riding our cycles around Nova Scotia, and had breakfast at a diner very close to Oak Island, which is only a stones throw from the mainland. Shooting the bull with a few native/locals, I asked their opinions on OI. They all chuckled but all also shared the same opinion...."Good for business".

Why would people, hundreds of years ago, with limited resources and nothing for heavy equipment, bury gold hundreds of feet down in some sort of money pit? I would have looked for another island.

If History channel wants to finance the program and it gets ratings, fine with me, but it seems kinda hokey to me.

As mentioned before, it's good for local business.

....or waste time and effort burying pharaohs and huge caches of treasure  under a mountain of carved rock ...lol

And that is it in a nutshell, the show's theories do not make any sense at all. It would seem that the so called treasure was was buried with the intent of being hidden forever and never being found.

Instead of going through such a monumental task with primitive tools it would have been a Hell of a lot easier to just dump and sink everything in a deep part of the ocean, problem solved!

Anything exciting happen in the 8th season premier last night ? I fell asleep about 10 minutes into it, but it is Dvr'd, so I can catch up later.  Oak Island is the only thing I watch somewhat regularly.  I probably wouldn't have started, if it were not for a personal connection with one of the regulars on the show.  I will admit to being somewhat hooked now however.

Most of the family thought my granddad's step brother was crazy when he went up there, in the late 60's, to look for pirate treasure.  Now he is on tv almost every week.  He gave one of his closer relatives a fancy pocket knife that I got to look at the family reunion, two summer's ago.

He has been living on that island since the late 60's.  I imagine he will have a much bigger role this season, seeing as how no non-essential border crossings are allowed.

This applies to ghosts and bigfoot as well

If you read up any on pirates and thier like, they never had two cents to rub together. As soon as they took a ship the plunder was split. As soon as they hit shore it was quickly spent on whores booze and food. There was no such thing as "burying treasure". It was hard enough to keep them working together on a ship...usually boozed up all the time...not to even think about major engineering projects and physical labor.
