This obviously isn't a NY kill, but it was my first harvest of the season. 4x4 bull elk, taken last Thursday in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana. 25 yard quarter to shot, got both lungs, liver and some gut and sliced up the offside hindquarter. He went about 150 yards and watched him drop.9 points

So the guy that hijacks and bushwhacks more threads on the site than anyone else is going to talk about keeping things orderly? The one that just called someone out for something that went on a year ago in the sam thread he talks about orderly? Please.6 points

This could make us think!!! A professor at University of Montana was giving a lecture on 'Involuntary Muscular Contractions' to his first year medical students. Realizing that this was not the most riveting subject, the professor decided to lighten the mood slightly. He pointed to a young woman in the front row and said, 'Do you know what your ass hole is doing while you're having an orgasm?' She replied, 'Probably deer hunting with his buddies.' The professor laughed so hard he could not continue with the class.4 points

Just smoked a doe .... Looked like a good heart shot ... Heard her crash bout 50 yds away... Gonna give her a bit n see if I can't get a buck to come by ....4 points

So i ended up seeing 6 does and 2 fawns, then had a mature buck we call half rack come out at 20 yards. I did not have a chance to stand up, so i tried drawing on him while sitting and my sleeve swooshed against my pants, causing the buck to spook. Its too bad too, we have been after him for a couple of years. He has pedicle damage on his right side, so he only grows anything on the left. He has 5 points this year, and his body is ungodly big. His neck already blends down and leaves no visible brisket. After he left, I had the 2 1/2 year old 9 point come out and stand in my shooting lane for a couple of minutes. I let him go. Ended up being a good sit.3 points

Just let an 8 and a 6 walk by. It wasn't easy, but it felt real good seeing them... The adrenaline was awesome! Hope to see them two paired up next year.2 points

You can't be afraid to eat tag soup. That fear of not getting "your buck" is why most people complain about 1.5s getting shot and not seeing mature bucks.2 points

Honestly, these days I prepare mighty little. I just pick up my boots and weapon when it's time to go and that's pretty much it. When I do go out, it will be rain or shine and I won't be blaming anyone or anything if I don't put something down. I've hunted long enough to know that anything could happen at any time while one is out hunting and it can happen when you are least expecting it. I do know for certain, however, that you won't kill JACK if you aren't out there.2 points

Congrats! Yeah, throw up a pic for those of us sitting at our desks, gazing out the office window!2 points

Man, you guys just kill me! You started counting the minutes back in April for hunting season to come around and now you are finding all types of excuses. Hilarious!2 points

I don't get this. Why would someone be sweating while sitting still in a shady tree that still has leaves on it? Why not wear lighter clothes? I could see 80 degrees being uncomfortable if you have to hike 9 miles, but sitting still should not make someone sweat there a** off. 80 degrees beats 0 degrees any day of the week for me. You surely won't kill a deer sitting on the couch at home.2 points

Guys, stop making excuses. They are moving just fine. Last evening, in 75 plus degrees, I saw 10 deer, including a mature buck. Deer move in this weather, they have to eat, drink, etc. If you have the right wind conditions for your sets, get your butts in there.2 points

But do you have a list of target does by name? We are talking trophies here.2 points

My book smart friends said I was wasting my time in the 76 degre day. I saw a buck chase 4 doe around me, a wild black cat went under me and Peter rabbit went hopping by. Not to mention I was in the wood while he was working....so how does he like me now I wonder?2 points

Just filmed three bucks sparing all at once..chasing each other around...first time I've ever seen it! Pretty neat1 point

I got a lot of nice bucks on cam during the day this summer. Don't see why they wouldn't be moving now.1 point

I just don;'t get the "best" stand mentality. Sure, you have the best stand for the wind, for the entry/exit, for the time of year, etc. But there is no "best" stand to save because you hunt the best stand for the situation. You aren't saving anything. A rut funnel stand isn't a "best" stand now or in this situation. Just like an early season stand isn't going to be a "best" stand in early November. You may have a stand or two that see alot of action all season long, but again, it's probably not the best stand now because you burn ground, or have poor wind, etc. Hunt the best stand for the situation.1 point

if its a smart phone, download the photobucket app, upload the pics to that, then copy the link to the forum like you would from a PC1 point
-
Older bucks moving more? Well, you can wait for the rut all you want, but they still have to move to feed, drink, etc. You just dont hunt this time of the year like you do the rut. I dont have any "best stands" I have stands that are good for certain situations. The stand I went to last night was perfect for the situation. I had a mature buck at 20 yards. He would be in my freezer right now had I not botched my opportunity, and it had nothing to do with the temps. To each their own I guess.1 point
-
I don't get it. Deer still need food and water. They still move in this heat and people are reporting it. Best stand? I'm always hunting the best stand for the situation.1 point

LOL didnt we have a good conversation about how tapatalk is junk already? baahahahaha Anyhow its on the PC running FIrefox. When I click "View New Content" One of a few things will happen, poke it once and there is no new content, poke it a second time and bammmm its all there, or it will show maybe 3 or 4 new post, close out the site, come back in seconds later and do the 2 sequence poke again and pages of new content show up. If this is not happening to anyone else dont waste any time on my account I can work with it but its not specific to a certain computer either does it on all of them.1 point
