Thanks to some member advice regarding the use of deer decoys, I successfully harvested this buck this afternoon who showed up to fight my buck decoy. He came in sideways ready to bust it up but never made it. Cake shot at 15 yards dressed 165. Very happy and thanks to the forum members !!6 points

I get to my stand this morning and I can't find my Bushnell cam. It's missing. My brother in law did not move it. To top it off its private land. If I find you I will cut your nuts off and hang you upside down from the tree.5 points

The blind was built for a very good friend of mine that had MS. At that time he was wheel chair bound, But still loved being out hunting. The blind is only 600 yds behind the house so getting him in there was not a big deal.He was an avid outdoorsman right up to when he passed away this July. We always hunted and fished together .Every time I go near this a flood of memories come to me .He is missed3 points

Just wanted to say thanks for allowing me to register on this forum and surprised I had not found this site earlier. I have been previously on Chucks message boards for the past 5 years due to the fact I had primarily hunted with my Savage MLII smokeless muzzleloader until Cayuga County adopted the rifle season. The ever elusive whitetail is my passion and when I started bow hunting again it got even worse ---according to the wife. I hunt mostly in Cayuga County and hunt pretty much 90 % of the season from bow to late muzzleloader. I have read thru a lot the posts and it seems like a great group of guys. So thanks once again and hope to post a pict of the one that Ive been after for awhile now.3 points

I would think that just refunding the money would be a better idea than having any type of bad publicity spread about your business, whether or not it's true...........if just 5 people a year decide not to use you because of the negative reports, you're gonna be out a little more than the 2g's.2 points

Most who post on here from my experience are more in the southern part of the state where hunting is entirely different than us northern hunters. I see it differently and I hunt near the Gouverneur area. I have woods I have swamps and I have fields. The bog difference is we do not have the deer, and patterns here are different. I am lucky if I get a dmp every 5 years as they are very restricted. The activity here seems to generally be about 10 days to 2 weeks behind what almost everyone on here sees. But again the deer population makes a huge difference. Hell if I see 8 to 10 deer in a season, I am doing well. I have ample food cover water and arrangement, I just do not have the deer. Hence we have to also hunt differently. to be successful. The tough part is getting guys with 2 or 3 dmps and chances at extras in November to understand how hunting here is. They are way to used ot seeing a lot of sign and activity. If most hunted where we are, they would give up after a week of seeing maybe one or two deer in that week. I have had the past two weeks off and I hunted every day but yesterday and have seen 5 deer in 2 weeks. It is entirely different here for sure.2 points

He cashed your check and hopefully you have backup paperwork as well. Get the authorities involved right away. That alone may change his tune.2 points

Unless it's a complete deluge you should be fine, I have waited over night in rain to track a liver hit deer an I did find him, although it got tough towards the end. That's my only experience though so if someone has different feelings please do share. Of course it's going to have some effect, if it's a bad shot to begin with you may find yourself in trouble, so I guess it may be one of those times when one must take an honest inventory of ones shooting skills.1 point

LOL! If you get a moment go back and read what I posted on October 10th when you asked board members for advice about hunting swamps. See if what you just posted about where you are finding the "rubs", "safe" area, buck activity, isn't almost word for word what I said. The little bushy transition areas or "intersection" you call it, is what I was describing to you. I have always found them to be hot spots. I guess you can't bow hunt the same area for 38 years, many of them almost every day of the season, without learning things even on accident. LOL! Good luck closing the deal now.1 point

you can kill them you just have to smart about it, grow has already shed some light on an idea...1 point

I guess it's too much to ask that we as a fraternity of hunters are respectful of each other. I always wanted to believe that it took a special person to be a hunter. That we were more honorable, raised with higher values and understood we needed to respect others like us with who we share the woods. However It seems more and more common that we're all the same as joe public who would snatch an unattended cell phone...1 point

Yes, that was what I was referring to, the Adirondacks. As I watch the site, it seems as though most people posting are seeing the same type of activity. However up here, it seems like it doesn't happen until much later. Usually I begin seeing more activity when the temps drop below the 50s. I read everyone's posts and catch myself getting excited. I have to remind myself, wait, not just time yet! I appreciate the support. That is what I was looking for. After hunting several years without shooting a buck, I'm just looking to be reminded that I'm not alone up in these woods. Of course here, you're always so very alone1 point

got to sleep in a half hour later...legal 7:40 this morning...and it was and is cold...28 degrees....got in pretty quiet and set the decoy then hit the ladder to the gully stand..The wind had tore away the sound buffers and holy crap a squeaked and squawked ....like a haunted house on crack....22ft ft of uproar...got to fix that...figured I wouldn't see a thing......I'd just stepped onto platform and the crunching started...really...deer every where and walking in and around me...I'd snuck in past them bedding...and they got up and came over to inspect the noise....most I couldn't make out they repositioned them selves on the opposite ridge...but some milled around and as it got light they were looking hard 2 doe in particular...then I saw a young buck tending a doe...and as they moved off...mind you I'm still standing and quiver is on my back, bow on deck, no arrow noc'dd...I hear heavy steps coming in...still a tad dark but by the time he got to me I'd gotten the quiver off the arrow out and bow up and noc'd...now he see the decoy and instead of turning down trail towards it...he circles behind the tree...down wind of me...he gets just to the side of stand and I turn just enough to see it's the 6pt from yesterday...he's sniffing the air and then looks straight up...there I am all contorted face mask down and one glove off...he thought about it for a moment and the swirled around and left the way he came...Didn't make much noise no snorts and only a little flagging....well at 10am a gust is wind blew over the decoy.......later 2 fawns came by and I was done at 11.30....the long stand while the deer moved through..and there were a lot...just had the ole knee screaming...something better happen very soon...it's just about done...still GREAT MORNING1 point

About 730 I hear heavy walkin coming to me down a trail. A doe come into my 25 yard shooting lane and right behind her is a huge high 130"ER. He was 2 feet shy of stepping into my lane! I can see him clear as day behind some brush smelling this doe infront of him. She was all weary with him on her so she made a quick trot a few steps and stopped, I thought he would have moved fwd into the lane but be turned where he came from and looped around. So close!! First time the bow came off the hanger for the season. Hope he comes back in1 point

not any more, 1. if rifle is allowed for deer, you can use a rifle at night 2. if shotgun only, you may now use a centerfire, smaller than .22 somthing like .204 or .17 hornet1 point

By the way, what property are you planning to hunt? I haven't tried predator hunting in a few years. I want to give it a shot again this winter1 point
