I have the opposite problem. Teacher tells my daughter about all the deer her husband and sons are shooting. My Daughter comes home and questions why I don't get anything when I hunt... But I would rather have my problem then yours.8 points

This sounds like one particular teacher who used bad judgement and discussed his/her own personal beliefs in the classroom. I hunt with a bunch of guys who are all teachers. I've never seen anything to suggest that teachers in general are against hunting or that schools have an anti-hunting agenda. I think that a lot of guys on this forum are very anti-education and anti-teacher and that's why this thread is getting so much attention.3 points

Yup..No God and No Gun's! Aren't we in a nice place in this world.3 points

Don't get me started..I was married to a teacher for 35 years and had the unfortunate experience of getting to know some of her liberal academic type friends... I don't want to categorize people, but many of them seemed to feel they were much superior to us commoners... The sad part is, while these people seemed to think they were much smarter than most of the rest of us mere mortals, many of them are really not very bright, and they are teaching and influencing our children.3 points

Last year my daughters teacher was doing a unit on nutrition. My daughter came home saying meat is bad for you blah blah blah. I was in the school in a meeting within 2 days. I asked the teacher why he would teach that kind of nonsense and it turned out he was on some fad type diet where he didnt eat meat and other things. After I told him that teaching my daughter about his diet choices was unacceptable, and contacting the principal, it stopped. All of a sudden she was bringing home real nutrition curriculum. Just dont sit back, be proactive about it. Bring other parents in on it as well. Get school administration involved right off the bat.2 points

that is why ben franklin didnt want the bald eagle as the symbol of our country, he prefered a falcon, but made a statment in protest of the eagle that has been misconstrued to this day. paraphrased" if your going to pick a scavenger as the eagle , i would rather have a wild turkey as the national symbol as it is a devoted parent to its young." and people thought he thus wanted the turkey.....sarcasm lost on as many back then as it is today...?2 points

My son had a teacher in high school that made him a homemade turkey box call. I thought that was pretty cool of him. Not all teachers are anti hunting.2 points

My daughter had a teacher do the same thing when she was in second grade.I called the teacher and calmly talked to her saying that she didn't have the right to voice her views and opinions on my child. After a short 1 minute conversation she was balling her eyes out and apologizing to me.I didn't let it stop there,I went to the principle(who coincidentally I went to school with......yea that made me feel old and I am only 38 now!!!!LOL) and made sure I didn't want any more personal view pushed towards my child.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to the school and make your voice heard and do not take no for a answer, just make sure you are calm and it will go the way you want it.If you don't get anywhere with the teacher,go to the principle,if you don't get anywhere with the principle go to the superintendent,if that fails call the local news and keep fighting!!2 points

I'm sure her teacher eats steak, burgers and chicken and probably wears leather shoes and belts too. Most anti's are just a bunch of hypocrites!2 points

I've had a Buck Boiler for a couple of years and it worked great (30-40 heads) until the end of last spring. I've taken it apart twice and removed a ridiculous amount of rust and slake from the elements. Even after cleaning it I can't get it to heat above 140 degrees. I saw a thread about a DIY version so I went to Tractor Supply to try to buy the components. They were sold out of the drain-plug tank heating elements but the manager did point out this unit that you just drop in the bucket. I was skeptical but she suggested that if it didn’t do what I wanted it to that I could just return it. For $36.99 I figured what the heck. Well, it works really well ! I had a head of my cousin’s (including hair, eyes, jaw, brains, etc.) that I had been working on in the old Buck Boiler and I threw it in a new bucket with some cascade, water, and the new heating element. After 3 hours it was up to 200 degrees. At that point I removed the head and gave it a good shake. The bottom jaw fell off and all of the major flesh came off with a few flicks of my knife. There was still some cartilage left so I replaced the water and let it go 2 more hours. I hit the skull with the pressure washer and the end result is below. I still need to degrease the skull, but otherwise it is done. I found the same heating unit on Amazon for $39.99. The reviews are the most interesting part. People are using it to heat hot tubs and swimming pools! The big thing about this unit is that it is a HEATER, not a de-icer, so it has no thermostat and will not shut off on it's own. http://www.amazon.com/Allied-Precisi.../dp/B000BDB4UG Today I ordered a thermostat control unit off Amazon which shipped for about $27. I am going to add this so I can maintain a 180-190 temp and not over to prevent damage to the skull.1 point

http://www.haastylehunting.com/vote-here.html A pic of the giant we called "Bases" that me and Moog chased this past season is in the linked photo contest. Photo battle #15 - the pic on the left. You have to click on my name...Brad. I would appreciate any votes. With all of the cams I run and use, I don't get very many "picturesque" shots as I'm more into using them as a hunting tool rather than as a hobbyist or someone who typically goes after the magazine shots. Again, appreciate any votes.1 point

to search for racks...The repair guy just left ...new furnace blower....While he was working I went over the pics from yesterday...and blew them up....the big guy with rack..plus 3 with small half racks and I think 5 that lost racks...from the dark stains and a couple that looked a tad light in color.. So seeing this is a first for us...that is the buck staying or coming back around...usually they move down hill...do you think they will stay? Is it possible there is a very late breeding happening? Give me your opinion... I have decided to wait on the hinging if we get this deep snow they are predicting ...they will need easy access to the branches.......grabbing camera and I'm out the door....1 point

Awesome man, congrats on another! You're making a run for the title this year! Great job not letting all that snow deter ya!1 point

So I tracked and back track glassed a 30acre area until my knee and back could take no more...there is a 2" thick sheet of frozen snow over soft snow...and the sudden breaking through just killed me...this was mostly drift areas in the woods.....I kid you not tracks just EVERY where and in all directions...merging and branching ones running parallel and ones crossing this way and that big small and one really tiny set....Nothing but 5 different areas of rubs...and lots of butterscotch colored urine and lots of droppings.... Two areas of bedding..Ohh they are smart...one is set up where I can not enter a several acre area...with out them catching me...and I can only enter out of sight up wind from them....hhhmm will really have to monitor travel times in that area this fall carefully ...for I have several blinds and stands there....just a few pics...turnips, tracks ,rubs...no biggies...lol1 point

I use to play that and Time Crisis a lot as a teen. As you can see, it's made me into a violent sociopath. I blame it on video games.1 point

My doctor had a form that was new information questionnaire. I think it was about 18 months ago or so. It had a section about gun ownership. I left it blank. He asked me to fill it out. I declined.1 point

My wife is a teacher and so are a lot of my friends. They are like any other group, made up of all sorts of people with all sorts of different views. The way you guys group people together is the same way the anti's group us with the poachers and unethical hunters. Same mentality, just opposite sides of the fence.1 point

I just bought the IQ 5 pin sight to put on my new bow this Spring. I have been using the precursor, Timberline No - Peep, for about 5 years and it is amazing. I have kept my kisser, but I do not need a peep anymore because the no-peep showed me when my anchor was solid and I could just concentrate on my sight pins. It really is only a split second to see I was not torquing the bow and I was good to go. When IQ bought the technology from Timberline, it was a no doubter about what my next sight would be.1 point

the thing is with their beliefs, they are not lying. They are setting the kids up top rat you out. My above post was very serious. They plant the seed guns are bad. Then ask the kids if there are guns in their homes kids say yes then do you feel safe after being told guns are bad. Kids will say no i do not feel safe. That day cops and child protective show up. You give up the guns or the kids. My only question would be how long did it take you to call the school and complain? When is the next BOE meeting and will you be there. Get your friends together and get there to voice your dissatisfaction.1 point

next is do mommy an daddy have guns in the house and do you feel safe after they hammer in guns are not safe.1 point

Very nice pictures... Yes, they are scavengers... My buddy in Alaska, who worked most of his life as a commercial fisherman, calls them "white headed buzzards".. I figure a bird has a right to make a living however he can....<<grin>>....1 point

I got the male when he was a 9 month old pup and he was a "natural." He came from hunting stock and all I had to do was take him out to an area that had rabbits, and he would run them. I got the female when she was 2 yrs. old. She was a started dog, meaning she was already running rabbits, and was also from hunting stock.. She learned a lot from hunting with my male, who was 7 yrs. old at the time, and they run perfectly together. When I retire my male, I will train his replacement with her. I have been doing it like this for over 45 years now.1 point
