I'm not looking to make enemies in the sheriff's department. I can let bygones be bygones. I made myself heard and understood to both agencies and the case is closed. I started this thread to share what happened and open a little good old internet debate. www.HuntingTactical.com Modern Gear for Modern Hunters [email protected]4 points

Went out to some new dirt last sat with a guy I work with. Had an awesome hunt ! Called in 3 reds, quickly and 2 of them actually smashed into the fox pro ! I was not on the gun for the first but was able to get a shot on the second and the third never came within range of us... But it was awesome. I've had yotes and fox come right to the call before but never had them actually hit it so hard they knock it over, or leave teeth marks in my foxjack !3 points

I managed to find two of the old photographs that best shows the mane prior to being caped out. One is the only close-up and the second is as it hung shortly after taken. There were several pictures taken but nearly all others were positioned (frontal head shots) to show the rack.3 points

Coyotes, rabbit, squirrel.................... I am still hitting the woods. Not as much as I would like, but still getting out there. Even had days where I just walked the woods and didn't kill a bushy tail.2 points

I posted this nice deadhead find back in December. I finally got around to skulling him out. He smelled so bad by that time that I almost sawed off his rack and called it a day. Instead I got to work with my hatchet and busted some teeth out trying to make quick work of separating the lower jaw. He was so rotten, the skin almost peeled itself off as soon as it hit the water revealing two sweet FANGS! I just so happened to have an antler that fit this skull perfectly too for a nice stand,lol2 points

I just had to go out yesterday. Sun shining, 45 degrees, no wind, and this guy is still trying to get control of left over holiday weight. So up the hill I went. I didn't see one squirrel .... lol. But what a great day to be outdoors, just lovin' life!2 points

Im sure thats true for most if not all setups. My first yote this year came running in from upwind. I hadn't really expected anything coming from that direction so he totally surprised me when he showed up. Shot with a 69 grain Nosler in the midsection. Put him down but got back up and ran straight towards me. Thought it was in attack mode. I cycled that bolt pretty quick as he ran to my left bout 15 yards and put another shot into him to put him down for good. Talk about an adrenaline rush!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

With the weather so nice this winter, I've been going out for coyote, rabbits and squirrels, most every weekend. Even doing some post deer season scouting. My grandson, hunting buddy and I, have been having a blast!2 points

I've had a trail cam on a tree for a couple of months. Wouldn't you know the first shed I find was under leaves on the backside of the tree. Must be from last year.2 points

My lunch today was a can of sardines on saltine crackers garnished with some crushed hot pepper relish... Today I had skinless/boneless Gourmet Selects from Starkist, but probably my all time favorite are called LIGO and they come in a round can like a tomato paste can and are a product of the Phillipines... The Mermaid's daughter-in law is Phiilipina and picks them up for me at the local Oriental store for a buck a can.. They are in tomato sauce with chili added and are to die for..1 point

I used to stash a couple cans of spam in the provisions on my hunting trips... On those occasions when we had hunted a couple of days and had no meat in camp, I'd slice and fry up the spam over the campfire ... All the guys who would have said YUCK ! to spam back in civilization thought it tasted pretty damn good in the wilderness... To me it tastes pretty good at home... The Mermaid says YUCK, however.. I'll bet she'd like it after about 3days out in the boonies eating nothing but dehydrated noodle mixes....<<grin>>..1 point

If you are referring to,your post #35 than yes you are wrong in the belief that any knife that can be "flicked open" is illegal in NYS . Now in NYC they interpet that any knife that can be "flicked open " to be an illegal gravity knife, that's a bit like saying a lever action rifle is a semi automatic . Which is why there is confusion in this state and a law suit , to read about the suit click my link . http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=235 My post # 49 was written as I was running late for a meeting and not as clear as I would want . There can be OTF that are switchblades and ones that are assisted , but by and large most OTF are switchblades . Here is where the President signed into federal law exempting assisted openers from the federal switchblade law. http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=98&Itemid=1 Pay special attention to (5)1 point

As bitter tasting as it is to you, what they did was legal. Thats all Im saying. I'd probably be a little twisted too. It is what it is.1 point

The past 2-3 weeks I haven't been out nearly as much as I have been bc i'm in the middle of remodeling my basement and building a bar, but I have been hunting coyotes/fox 2-4x a week at night, grouse hunting with my GSP 1-2x on weekends and a half hour here and there on my lunch breaks, as well as a little crow hunting to break up some of the serious hunts.1 point

I posted my fanged buck find from this season here in the taxidermy forum for anyone that might have missed it. I never expected to find one locally. Full story here. http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/31503-fanged-buck/1 point

Still trying to drop one more red fox and another yote before it's over, then I'll really start hunting for antlers unless we get snowed in again. Killing one more of each targeted k-9 would go a long way at boosting my confidence as an effective predator killer, and not just a fluke "one kill wonder".1 point

No. Just stopped by for a quick bite. They were closing in 45 minutes for renovations so we rushed it. Definitely would go back though. The wings were awesome.1 point

The most important thing to remember that 99.9% of the time they will approach from the downwind side or try to get downwind of the side the call is coming from.1 point

I'm hunting bunnys Friday with my buddy and his two beagles.. Fished the river for walleyes this morning but caught just a huge carp....The jig was in his lip, but I don't know if he bit it or I just happened to snag him in the lip..1 point

Belo that's only because of NYC's knife laws, some won't ship ANY locking folders to ANY part of NYS . Assisted openers are legal in NYS. Yesterday I was in a uniform shop that sells largely to cops/ ff/ ems. They had plenty of assisted openers for sale. OTF are " switchblades" and largely illegal , although I don't sweat it myself .1 point

Armed militants take over a federal building, why should where make a difference? People were still kept from work, everything is the same as other occupy protest EXCEPT these people came armed and threatened violence. Let me say again, THREATENED VIOLENCE from the beginning, so why the kid gloves? I'm not saying they should have stormed the place or anything like that but to not create a perimeter and then allow women and children to enter and others to come and go as they pleased just goes against every law enforcement principle I have seen before. Oh! and the building wasn't unoccupied as in a unused building, they were off for the New Years Eve Holiday, It would have been occupied if they came one day later.1 point

I'm 28 and have an 18 month old german shorthaired pointer that I have been training and hunting with. My breeder has given me a lot of great advice and in the spring/summer months, I go to her house every 1-2 months and we do some training together. My dog has her NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize 1 and she also has her AKC Jr Hunter Title (hunt tests) **Photo Credit: The picture with the ribbons was taken by my breeder, Judy Zeigler, on the day Daisy went 4 for 4 at the double hunt test we attended.1 point

My wood/oil furnace burned 24/7 for years W/ no issues. The oi burner would occasional kick in when the wood fire died down. In sprinkled creosote presenter crystals when I stoked a new wood fire & always burned a HOT fire once every day (when I came home from work) to prevent creosote build up. My anual chimney inspection & cleaning wre always quick & easy with little residue in the chimney.1 point

Bans won't do anything. You think someone who is willing to poach a deer during a closed season wouldn't hunt without a license? Lost of firearm and monetary fines are the only way to go and lots of it.1 point

This guy was spotted a couple of days ago...I want his antlers bad!!! It would be greatly appreciated if he would leave them laying just like this:1 point

Looks like the plot is already full of food with all the native grasses and forbs. What are your plans for the plot? Should be even better next year if you leave it the way it is now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
