I am not a science fanatic but apparently a group of smart people just confirmed the existence of gravitational waves - the last part of Einstein's theory of relativity to be proven. I didn't really understand how important it is at first, but basically it opens the door to crazy things like "warp speed" because space and time is now proven to "bend" rather than it being simply a theory. I am sure there are way more higher-level impacts that are beyond my abilities to grasp, but it is pretty neat.10 points

I've been on this site for almost 6 years now. In that time there have been SEVERAL members who believed the universe revolved around them. This gravitational mumbo jumbo is old news to me around here,lol5 points

Parents signed the contract today. Hopefully all goes fine with title company. Definitely has a ROW to the private road, but the question is if there is a ROW to be allowed to drive on this private road to get to the land. Should know in 10 days or so, then closing soon after if all checks out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

What a night we had last night..... Stand 1: Got permission to hunt at my aunt's house, just behind her barn. Her property butts up to about 20 acres of brush lots. We get setup just after sunset and were just waiting for it to get dark enough to start running the light. We were about 5 minutes from starting to call when all of a sudden my partner flips the light on quick and there's the biggest grey fox I think I have ever seen!! I scrambled to get the gun on him as we smooched him. He stopped once but then quickly disappeared into the brush. My partner swings the light back and there's another one, coming right towards our lip squeaking. I throttled her right there with my buddy's 17 WSM. We called for a few minutes and then decided it probably wasn't a good idea to educate so we cut the call and moved on. Stand 2: Set up in a field across the road from the house where we park and I put the call close to an island of thick brush and we sat across the field with our backs to the edge of the hardwoods with a creek behind us. 5 minutes of nutty nuthatch and we hear the infamous "tsh tsh tsh tsh" of something coming in, right behind us! A grey fox slipped up the creek and was going to come out right where we were sitting....it got about 5 yards from us and then hooked a U-turn and left at the same speed it came in. we continued our set to no avail, but did hear a pack of coyotes light up across the road. Stand 3: Went to the laydown yard just outside of town that my boss owns (I work for a construction company) and got setup. Played nutty nuthatch for about 3 minutes and the wind and snow picked up like crazy. 2 minutes later my call dies.....unbelievable. So we sit there a few minutes in silence ad the snow stops. My partner decides to use his mouth call. About 10 minutes later we catch eyes across the railroad tracks and disappear as quick as they were found. We called on and off for another 20 minutes and decided to pack it up. Got halfway across the laydown yard and my partner thinks he forgot his bag so goes back to get it. I shine the light around and see nothing, I'm about 30 yards from the truck so I'm just looking down, daydreaming. All of a sudden I hear "hey hey hey hey hey hey hey" and I look up, my partner is 10 yards to one side and a grey fox is 10 yards on the other!! We shined him and tried to stop him but he took off outta there. we were speechless...... I walk over to the truck and start putting stuff away while my partner walks over and grabs the chair he dropped when we tried to get the fox. I look up and 65 yards down the haul road I see the fox start to cross. Are you kidding me?! I lip squeak and light him up. he stops for a half a second and disappears. What a night..... saw a grey fox at every stand and only managed to get one. And that one wasn't even called to!4 points

To the contrary. Majority rule is a true Democracy. We are not. We are a Representative Republic. There is a reason why one of the branches of Government (Congress and most specifically the Senate) was set up as it is. To protect states with less population than the larger states. RI has equal voice as CA in the Senate regardless of population. We are not majority rule. In fact the Constitution was set up for protections of out rights in the face of majority opposition. There is a defined process to modify the Constitution. If is seldom used becasue there is seldom enough wide spread support for any of the process to be carried out.4 points

At least now you can understand how a 330lber can be so stealthy and ninja like in the stand. Trust me - its gravitational waves.3 points

We used to get the real deal from a friends family in Virginia. Like leave $20 on a stump, beep the horn and drive around the block and a jar is there when you come back. It was almost too drinkable, it was smooth and had an apricot taste to it3 points

43. Started hunting with my old man as soon as I was strong enough to make it up the hill with our chairs, lunch, and other accessories in my pack and pockets. I wasn't actually old enough to hunt yet, but sometimes he'd let me "hold the gun" when he ran off to take a wizz over the next hill.3 points

i think scientists just proved some his theory not that long ago through experiments with quantum entanglement. stuff is pretty crazy to grasp if you can follow it the least bit or get a layman's explanation for each of it. physics meant work when I got my degree. after the fact it's pretty awesome when ties are made to aspects of real world outside the class room. only driving force to make me study. hated school. more you learned the less you realized you knew. individuals like Einstein are irreplaceable.2 points

Huh? I've had deer run by at warp speed. He was bent on getting out of that space at that time. I don't think it was caused by gravity waves. That's my theory.2 points

Awesome night! I don't have a ton of experience, but from what I have been told and witnessed the greys are much more aggressive and will come to a call sooner than a red or yote or bobcat. I never called anything in (that I saw) in NY in the few times I tried, then when I was in Arizona I did everything exactly the same and called in and killed 2 greys in 3 sets. Also called in a big bobcat (saw the tracks in the sand), but never saw it. I've actually been thinking about going to AZ for like a week and just do predator calling on state land.2 points

Has anyone ever built a heated shooting shed? I got this idea the other day when I was up on my archery range. I have a shooting bench back at 50 yards that I use for target shooting, and the same range is used for shooting the bow. The problem is that this time of year, it's too darn cold to be sitting out there bench rest shooting. So it occurred to me that if I built a shed over the shooting bench that I've got there and made it big enough to install a very small kerosene space heater, I could be shooting all year. Now I am thinking of going deluxe with a whole new shed from the ground up. Just a one-seater that will likely look like a small chicken coop with a shooting window and perhaps some side windows for summer ventilation. Just something to keep the weather off me, the guns, and all my equipment. Has anyone ever built something like this? Any pictures? any ideas? Here is where I would put it ..... right behind the house on the archery range. It would take the place of the bench under the blue tarp.1 point

There's actually a lot of science in beer. My beer making gear looks like a chemistry classroom. Graduated cylinders, beakers, scales, torches, hot plates, microscopes. Now if I throw a batch of beer down a worm hole maybe it will age faster...or no maybe slower. That light speed threads got me all mixed up. Maybe I just need to bend the batch. Or wait if I put a batch down a worm hole someone else gets my beer in the future. Ahh, I think I have it now.1 point

Due to how fast it is, if you find something faster it would be surprising to say the least. Impossible barrier at this stage. As much as we would like to do warp speeds and explore the universe it is almost impossible with the tech we have today. Bending or using worm holes is the only solution for long distance travel. Problem is when you got back from your trip everyone you know would be dead as time would slow for you and keep going normally for everyone else on the planet. Many things we are starting to understand, I just hope we do not all disappear due to some weird experiment gone awry to prove some theory like creating a black hole. Considering most planets we would explore are more than a light year away I would be temped to say we will never get to explore them, ever. But if we did it would probably be a one way trip.1 point
-
Time travel is a small branch of the relativity theory also. According to Einstein, once you exceed the speed of light, times slows down and thus, if fast enough, time eventually stops.1 point

I definitely have a lot more luck pulling the fox in rather than the coyotes. In the past, I've seen the greys charge harder, where the reds will sit and observe, and then creep but this year, the reds have been equally as bold for us. The coyotes are still a huge PITA for our calling efforts. Only got one of them this year but we have had some awesome encounters and close calls though.1 point

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/02/11/nevada-rancher-cliven-bundy-arrested-by-fbi-in-portland.html Apparently the law has a long arm and longer memory. He was still wanted by the feds for his refusal to pay ONE MILLION DOLLARS (Pinky finger touching corner of mouth ala Dr Evil) in grazing fees and trespassing fines. They will probably add the charges of interfering with with federal agents when he called (repeatedly) for the wildlife refuge occupying militia to not give up after his son asked then to surrender.1 point

I've got some fields to sit over that I can see up to 400 yds (in one particular spot), so I'm sighted in about 1 inch high at 100. I took one deer at 165 (ranged it after the shot) with a Knight Original Disc. 2 pellets and a 220 gr Barnes Red Hot. Dropped him where he stood. That was the only long shot. I've taken probably 12-15 with a muzzleloader, and all of the rest were well inside 75 yds. My shortest is the most memorable though. About 8 feet, was walking straight toward me feeding. Was oblivious to me and I fired when he picked his head up after noticing me. Pretty cool to see him almost at my feet when the cloud cleared. The field dressing job was not fun however...1 point

I have one heated structure we call the "Blood Shack" to hunt from. It's only 4x4 but has enough room for deer hunting. For a target shooting structure, I would want at least 6x6 (8x8 is preferred) and a 6' ceiling (for bow shooting you may need at least 8' of clearance to the roof). You need more room when you are target shooting so you can fiddle with all of your shooting things. You also need a roof that won't leak when snow melts or it rains. A solid floor is also needed for a firm shooting platform. You'll want a steady bench rest inside. It should have windows on all four sides so you can see 360 degrees for safety. These can be simple plexiglass, (harder to break) but they have to open. You will also find when you open the window you shoot from in very cold weather, it gets cold in the structure very fast. The summer is not too bad inside if all the windows are open and it's situated in the shade. If built as described, it will suit your needs, keep you warm and last for a good while. PS: You can also buy such a structure these days made of polymer plastic, or even wood, if you find you'd rather pay $800 for a ready made one.1 point

To not give away the exact parcel, it is between 25 and 45 acres. Also, an adjoining parcel is huntable which is double the size, but landlocked to others (not us) so there isn't much pressure (if any at all). So 75 - 135 of huntable land. Further, recovery rights on the other adjoining property (40 acres). The current owner shot some nice bucks on the property. Also he had a lot of success trapping red fox (no grays), bobcat, and coyotes. 3 ladder stands are being left to us as well.1 point

I am a beer snob also..I only drink COLD... Unless I can't get cold, then I'll settle for COOL... Unless I can't get cool, then I'll settle for AMBIENT TEMP... Unless I can't get ambient temp, then I'll settle for PISS WARM... I draw the line at HOT, however...After all, I AM fussy about what beer I drink...1 point

First, I'd like to say that not too much beats a beautiful vintage rifle or a custom modern rifle, costing thousands of dollars. I have seen some rifles posted on here that make me drool! The smooth lines and butter smooth actions can never be duplicated in a "budget" rifle. And I would like nothing more than to "some day" own one of these beauties myself! Everyone has their own dream gun that they would love to own. Some own them and others just keep dreaming. As for me, I'm just an average hunter that has up until last year, hunted a shotgun only zone. I hope some day to go on a out of state hunt, but that is another story. So, all of my hunting is done within a few miles of where I live. My old Ithica Deerslayer 2 has served me well for many years, and I did use it last year as well. Due to family obligations, I would not spend the money on myself to buy a rifle to hunt with. I would just make do with what I had. But last Christmas, my best friend and wife gave me a savage axis in 7mm-08. I have upgraded the trigger and it breaks at a little over three pounds. Put new glass on it. And shot it "a lot" over the summer. I am no great shot, but can consistently shoot sub one inch groups at 100 yards with this "budget gun". Sure the action is a bit clunky and the plastic is not as eye catching as walnut, but I'm happy with it! Much more accurate than my shotgun, for sure! I'm just using it to hunt deer! It's all we could afford at the time and I really like the gun. Perfect price and accuracy for an average hunter like myself!1 point
