  1. Like this idea, I am a fan of doubles and used my side by side last year on my Turkey hunts. Al

  3. This reply is going get a bit lengthy I suspect, so please have patience with me. I tend to get a bit "wordy". Thank you so much for the video. I now know that my assumptions about the theory of this site have been correct. And I think this guy has done a great job of maximizing the theory that correlates the size of the vitals to the distance to the target. And like he said the theory is something that has been around for a heck of a long time. So if this theory has been around for decades (just in a different form), I have to wonder why most of today's hunting sites do not use the concept. Here's what I remember about my first encounter with the size/range concept. I think it was back in the 60's when someone came out with a sight that had three or so rings of certain selected diameters that represented the vertical distance from the back to the brisket of an average deer. One was for 20, the next one down was sized for that distance on a deer at 30 yards, and another for a deer at 40 yards. Sounded pretty slick. But bowhunters pretty quickly found that deer are not all the same size, and a slight difference in deer size made the difference between an arrow going into a wound area or a real kill area. That concept didn't last very many years and today you cannot even find that design on the market. The second area of skepticism that I have is regarding the convenient orange circle on the deer. It kind of like the deer you are sighting on is transparent. But the problem is that deer do not come with orange circles and they are not transparent. In the heat of the battle, you have to imagine exactly what the diameter of that vital area is. Not a close approximation, but an exact size because your range finding depends on an exact estimation of the size of the vitals on the featureless brown mass of the deer's body. Use his graphics and take away the orange circle that he conveniently provided. Not so precise anymore is it? Also look how close the tick-marks are vertically. a slight mistake in your estimation of the size of the vitals can have you using the 30 yard tick marks instead of the 20 yard tick marks. A third concern is that he shows the deer standing exactly at right angles to the hunter. What happens if the deer is quartering away? The width of the vital area changes and I would guess that while the diameter of the vital area has now changed, his ranged distance has not changed to compensate. Well, my remarks are all based on theory, and he has put a lot more time and energy into the design, so I would reserve any final conclusions for results from people like yourself who have actually put their money where their mouth is. So I am eagerly awaiting your actual field tests under actual field conditions. I am hoping you will keep us informed on how this site works out for you. I know that he has hunted up people that have successfully killed animals with this site, but we don't know how many people have complained of wounding an animal with a bad range estimation. I would rather take the word of someone like you who I'm sure will give us the straight scoop when you get a chance to try it out. If it works as advertised it will be the best thing since sliced bread.....lol.

  4. WHO REDEFINED OUR MILITARY AND WITH WHOSE CONSENT? We are beginning to wake up from a nightmare to a country we no longer recognize, and from a coup we never knew. By Victor Davis Hanson Did someone or something seize control of the United States? What happened to the U.S. border? Where did it go? Who erased it? Why and how did 5 million people enter our country illegally? Did Congress secretly repeal our immigration laws? Did Joe Biden issue an executive order allowing foreign nationals to walk across the border and reside in the United States as they pleased? Since when did money not have to be paid back? Who insisted that the more dollars the federal government printed, the more prosperity would follow? When did America embrace zero interest? Why do we believe $30 trillion in debt is no big deal? When did clean-burning, cheap, and abundant natural gas become the equivalent to dirty coal? How did prized natural gas that had granted America’s wishes of energy self-sufficiency, reduced pollution, and inexpensive electricity become almost overnight a pariah fuel whose extraction was a war against nature? Which lawmakers, which laws, and which votes of the people declared natural gas development and pipelines near criminal? Was it not against federal law to swarm the homes of Supreme Court justices, to picket and to intimidate their households in efforts to affect their rulings? How then with impunity did bullies surround the homes of Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, John Roberts, and Clarence Thomas—furious over a court decision on abortion? How could these mobs so easily throng our justices’ homes, with placards declaring “Off with their d—s”? Since when did Americans create a government Ministry of Truth? And on whose orders did the FBI contract private news organizations to censor stories it did not like and writers whom it feared? How did we wake up one morning to new customs of impeaching a president over a phone call? Of the speaker of the House tearing up the State of the Union address on national television? Of barring congressional members from serving on their assigned congressional committees? When did we assume the FBI had the right to subvert the campaign of a candidate it disliked? Was it legal suddenly for one presidential candidate to hire a foreign ex-spy to subvert the campaign of her rival? Was some state or federal law passed that allowed biological males to compete in female sports? Did Congress enact such a law? Did the Supreme Court guarantee that biological male students could shower in gym locker rooms with biological women? Were women ever asked to redefine the very sports they had championed? When did the government pass a law depriving Americans of their freedom during a pandemic? In America can health officials simply cancel rental contracts or declare loan payments in suspension? How could it become illegal for mom-and-pop stores to sell flowers or shoes during a quarantine but not so for Walmart or Target? Since when did the people decide that 70 percent of voters would not cast their ballots on Election Day? Was this revolutionary change the subject of a national debate, a heated congressional session, or the votes of dozens of state legislatures? What happened to Election Night returns? Did the fact that Americans created more electronic ballots and computerized tallies make it take so much longer to tabulate the votes? When did the nation abruptly decide that theft is not a crime, assault is not a felony? How can thieves walk out with bags of stolen goods, without the wrath of angry shoppers, much less fear of the law? Was there ever a national debate about the terrifying flight from Afghanistan? Who planned it and why? What happened to the once-trusted FBI? Why almost overnight did its directors decide to mislead Congress, to deceive judges with concocted tales from fake dossiers and with doctored writs? Did Congress pass a law that our federal leaders in the FBI or CIA could lie with impunity under oath? Who redefined our military and with whose consent? Who proclaimed that our chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff could call his Chinese Communist counterpart to warn him that America’s president was supposedly unstable? Was it always true that retired generals routinely libeled their commander-in-chief as a near Nazi, a Mussolini, an adherent of the tools of Auschwitz? Were Americans ever asked whether their universities could discriminate against their sons and daughters based on their race? How did it become physically dangerous to speak the truth on campus? Whose idea was it to reboot racial segregation and bias as “theme houses,” “safe spaces,” and “diversity”? How did that happen in America? How did a virus cancel the Constitution? Did the lockdowns rob us of our sanity? Or was it the woke hysteria that ignited our collective madness? We are beginning to wake up from a nightmare to a country we no longer recognize, and from a coup, we never knew.

  5. I never shot a sucker, but I really enjoyed spearing them, back when it was legal on the local streams. Murder creek in the town of Newstead was my favorite spot. The first warm rain in the spring would always bring them up.

  7. Hunting seasons are coming to a close in this part of the state pretty darn soon. At my age, winter sports are not really all that interesting. I don't ice-fish anymore (there ain't no ice this year anyway that's fit to stand on). Can't start the garden. Damn! I'm starting to get kind of bored. What are all you guys doing to bust up the winter blahs?

  8. Headed to the northern tier for some Hare chasing with my one beagle last Friday/Saturday. 5 hour drive took longer since the light snow was sticking on the interstate. Arrived to 4 inches fresh snow on top of 10 inches or so crunchy old snow. 3/4 mile walk in on unplowed road was invigorating. Entering the forest I spied hare tracks and meandered for an hour checking blowdown pines . As I was ready to move to a different spot gunner opens with a few barks and I know it's showtimshowtime. The hare loops out 140+ yds and the barks are faint but steady .I watch my Garmin and see he's getting within 90 yds. It seems like forever and he's 40yds away then suddenly the hare appears in front of me at 25 yds . Just loping along. 2 shots and it's down. 20 minutes steady but medium fast chase .I head out to another spot ; tracks but no jumps. Day 2 brings another 4 inches snow and I hunt the same area. Nary a track is to be found for an hour till...I come across one set of fresh hare tracks. Gunner runs it up the hill 150yds..then backtracks. I put him back on it as the hare was tricky and humidity higher. I get ahead of him and waiting for a sighting I see the hare not 6 feet away under a pine blowdown. I opt to let gunner bump it out and shoot...but seems my 2shots missed. I follow the dog and see blood. Gunner picks up the tempo and back down to the original jump area. I get there and he's circling a tree. I see a hole and look / then reach in feel around but it must be way deep underground.long drive to go so . I quit for the day and head home. Pics of the scenery and hare dog me hahaha . Beautiful 2 days in the forest . Just a beagle and I doin' what he loves !

  10. Can not do the stuff I once did as a young buck but I try to hang in and hit the timber the best I can. I will hunt for a couple of more weeks and do some Coyote and Rabbit hunting just to get in the woods which in itself is enjoyable for me. Back in the day March would be the time I would be getting my fishing gear set for Trout and Walleyes, and fine tuning my Woodchuck rifles and handloading ammo for them. The hunting of Woodchucks is over in my area, not enough to mess with and it is actually rare to see one. Still do some fishing. Summertime was always dog training for my Coon dogs which is pretty much over with for me. I am considering getting a dedicated Squirrel Dog to fool around with. So I mess around here on my hobby farm with some livestock throughout the rest of the summer along with a small garden, it is hunting season again before I know it. Al

  11. Funny I was just at the gun shop yesterday with my kid picking out his first pistol…..Finally the whole family has permits, what a task in Ny state… and I was looking at new shotguns and there was only one double on the rack. A quick flip of the tag at $1100 ended the viewing. This is a nice looking gun at a fair price.

  13. Hey Al I have always been pretty efficient at bringing home game enough for me and the family, but never what I would consider a sharp shooter. I guess I never put in enough time to get that accurate. My guess is if I tried this, at the end of the session I would be wrapping them back up and handing out to kids next Halloween! lol

  19. We made it to 55 up here in the frozen North. Most of the snow is gone except hedgerows and the Deer and Turkeys are in every corn and bean field loving life. We have more winter to come but will enjoy this while it here for sure.
