  1. I never excepted the PM to jump ship when the exodus occurred. While it bummed me out to see some leave, I was glad to see the arrogant, name calling, self proclaimed medical and political experts hit the road. While me and my family were under enormous pressure taking care of patients, and with me working away from home on the front line taking care of veterans with serious mental health and medical needs the entire "The War on Covid", I had to listen to many sitting home on their asses getting paid spew their hatred, ignorance, and venom. And, when one went so far as to personally attack me and reference me as a Nazi when I expressed my American patriotism and I did not jump on the hey I'm a Ukrainian bandwagon, I knew I had enough. Again, one only need go back and read the old posts to see which members were in the end on the side of things that turned out to be correct. I have no ill will for many who left, but I must be honest and say there were several who I feel were, or at least tried to be, the real destruction of this site and I am glad they left. In the end, I think they failed at that mission to bring this site down and some can't let it go. I hope the one's who got it all wrong and now share personal responsibility for voting for this world mess, have a shred of integrity and can look into their kids and grand kids eyes and say I'm sorry. But I doubt it! Where you and I differ FS, and that's ok, we just seem to see things differently in this regard. I do enjoy hearing about people shooting squirrels, rabbits, big and little deer, how to pickle heart, how the garden is doing, etc. I even like to hear when people "saw 9 deer tonight with two being small bucks not big enough to shoot". I like to hear about all kinds of things related to the outdoors from people who like to share their thoughts and experiences. There were a couple people that left who I really admired with their skills at making venison sausage and such, and would have loved to have learned from them. I'm still working full time at my age in a very hectic, challenging, physically and emotionally draining profession, and my time to be in the field is limited, so I do enjoy getting the connection even through the eyes of others. I don't have anyone to hunt with anymore since all grew up and moved away or died. So the deer camp experience I enjoyed, for me is gone. Young or old, I'm happy as can be for someone when they shoot a doe, a spike, or a huge rack buck, because to me it's all good. If someone has the lifestyle that allows them to be able to spend lots of money and time locating a big buck, and access to the property, and they can grit it out and kill the deer, I would high five them. I would high five and congratulate you FS! But, I suspect most people don't have the good fortune of endless free time and money even if they have the skill set to accomplish the same thing. So, I high five and congratulate anyone who has a successful hunt and a smile on their face. : ) P.S. I have several really nice bucks mounted from my younger days, as well as a full bear mount, bear rug, a bunch of racks and hides all gathering dust on the walls of my garage. They mean nothing to anyone other than me and when I die will probably just get tossed. Just like money, they say you can't take it with you. But I'm hoping I will be able to take my memories. And you know what? My favorite deer memory was my first deer taken, a spike horn, with a Robinhood Little John bow, and my retired Army Major uncle lifelong hunting partner, now long gone, putting his finger in the blood and streaking it on my face as a ritual, and the look of pride on his face. That's my favorite hunting memory, not any of the wall hangers in my garage.

  2. Now that is something that should be a crime, considering all the damage they do when in office.

  3. Libtard socialist Democrats pretending to be our friends, anything but! All the ones that hated the politics section of this board. They learned their lesson exposing themselves when they were here and I will bet a dollar to a donut they now lay low in the shadows. Al

  5. Not many here have been members long enough to know the history of its origin. This forum was started by Burmjohn at a time when an existing forum suddenly shut down leaving a pile of us hanging without a New York State hunting forum. For that I thank him for the years of interesting discussions and interfaces that he made available for us to use. Now we find that he is no longer in contact with the forum for whatever reason. Most of you have made an assumption that he has just arbitrarily abandoned the site. But none of us know the actual reason for his absence. As for myself, I am not in a hurry to judge without any facts. I can only say thanks for the 13 years that we have had the site. It was a good thing that he picked up the ball when no other New York State hunter was willing to do so. Now let's see if the current members are adult enough to keep things going along smoothly without so much of the petty and small-minded bickering that makes the atmosphere here so strained and unfriendly at times. We don't really need all the static.

  6. Exactly. And the Select Few that you speak of that carried the Wolf Pack mentality and ganged up to belittle others are now history and this site so much better for it. Amazes me that some come back on here saying how bad this site is with only our 4-5 Regular posters. When in the real world there are now many more that post on here that didn’t in the past because of the wolf pack. They say the site is doomed yet the members here continue to enjoy it daily and those nay sayers continue to feel the need to try and downgrade it.

  8. What sense does it make to even wear a back tag? You don't wear your fishing license? License in wallet is good enough. I've been at myt place 17 years only once did I run into a DEC officer. Checked tags on my deer never askmed for license or back tag. It's silly.

  9. Well said. On this board if you weren't on the side of the fence that many here seemed to think was mandatory on all issues you were immediately deemed a libtard socialist democrat (see the post above yours for proof of this). This in a nutshell has been the main reason for the demise of this forum. More so than people not being able to register. Some of folks that remain seem to love it now that anyone with contrary opinions to theirs are gone for good. This just proves that not everyone was welcome on this forum. I guess they now have the type of forum they wanted. The three or four regulars remaining can happily continue talking with each without anyone else having the nerve to interject an opposing view.

  10. I think that censoring opinions in any fashion, through active means or simply wearing folks down who don't have the bandwidth to constantly go back-and-forth diminishes us all. It leads to internet reverb, where a select few reinforce each other's opinions. I am not trying to engage in political commentary, but instead I'm expressing an opinion on social media, including message boards. Name calling, aggression, unwillingness to admit culpability of to even consider being in the wrong...it occurs on both sides of the fence. It's tough to see, and responding feels like screaming into the void. I've been active on this board for many years. I hope it continues to do well. I applaud efforts to focus on our core strengths, while maintaining individuality. But the whole blame game and denigration of other hunters is tough to take.

  11. Check this a@#$hole out: https://www.foxnews.com/video/6346009226112 This is what Bidens allowing to sashay across the southern border! I was discussing this last evening with a Libbie from, ironically, Texas who is too busy feeling sorry for these "brown people" (her term used repeatedly)and is wholly unconcerned with American citizens. For the life of me, I just cant understand this!!

  14. We ate duck jerky and pork braciola. The younger guys were cranked on red bull and duck videos 24/7. Some epic foos was played and a championship awarded. Making plans to go back next year.

  15. Most days we hunted the cove near home depending on weather. Bluebills, buffleheads and mallards, etc. One of the younger guys shot a merganser.

  19. Welcome to Ny. Home to oh so many idiots that would vote left even if their demise was on the line.
    1 point
  20. Exactly. And now these same idiots are on a bus headed towards California. Black,Brown or green they are just 20-30 year old males that will just make more gangs and destroy any area they end up calling home. Anyone that would vote anything left in this country these days are a special kind of fool.

  22. I read your statement twice. I strongly disagree with the part of 200" deer like never exist in New York. Actually, quite a few 200"+ deer are harvested in NY. In the wild.

  27. Yeah! Who did that back in the day-Bugs or Sylvester?

  28. OK, so if we can print these at home wouldn't one be able to print his tags 10 times and if they were up to no good be able to use as many as they want? I think there is an added level of control with the tags that the DEC used to give us. Those were not easily duplicated unless you went back and claimed that you lost your tag and were given another one.
    1 point
  29. I think the point was we are not supposed to wear anything white while deer hunting.

  30. I guess our tags will no longer be color coded since we will be printing on white paper annually? … A white tag on our back, what can go wrong?! [emoji848]

  31. With this state pushing the recycle and clean air issue, it was only a matter of time. I still have my last paper tags from 1999, purple in color, kind of a keep sake.

  35. Lets cut to the chase, they are here to undermine this site in any way they can, the sorry excuses for being here are laughable. They are not satisfied that they have a site that they always wanted and brag up, this site must be destroyed as far as they are concerned. It shows every time they come here, and these shits shows are they only time you see them for the most part, not to contribute useful tips to the board members all the rest of the times. Ya they post a complimentary post once in a while to keep their feet in the door, that is about it. Quit the charade! Al

  36. Not to be negative but the forum can not get new members and while guest traffic might be good actual member posts are way way down. I don't see that as a good thing for the future.

  39. Spring this year she shot a 21lbs bird. They decided to have it mounted. Man did it come out nice. DJ's Taxidermist in Avoca did the work. I have had a number of deer mounted by him and never disappointed. The bird is just amazing!
