Congrats Moog5050! Nice buck! Shame the yotes got to him.
-
Nothing to see here move along! I have seen this guy before while hunting LI. Congrats to him, what a buck!

What format are the videos in? Sometimes they need to be converted to upload.

Looks like a big 2.5 but real easy to see it as a 3.5, pictures can be hard to estimate with nothing to judge against. Thin legs are the only give away to me. Age it so we know!

I was told the same with Suffolk. Another bow only area, till shotgun in Jan.

I had the same issue this year with field shooting, going to try a blue pin it was much clearer in low light for me and did not change as bad with my glasses on and a lens, my glasses have a brown tint when its bright out. I was told blue is considered an indoor type pin.

I set up camp in Moose River for usually a week or more. Hunting this area is hard, like stated above if you SEE any deer it is considered a successful day, this is typical of the ADK woods with some exceptions like town areas tend to hold more deer. That said the more you are familiar with the area the better your chances, some area really has less than one deer per square mile. When you start to pick up on doe herds, patterns and general travel routes you can help improve your chances. Check out the Salerno brothers, they have some good information on how to hunt, like going up on top of the mountain and hunting down. So many really good hunters today, he are a few pod casts I tend to listen to often as these guys are simply great at hunting whitetail in the ADK. On a side note make sure you know what you are doing... These woods are no joke and every year it takes lives of the ill prepared. Tracking is awesome IF you get snow. I plan all my hunting without and when it comes its such a bonus!

20 yards slightly high.

So very sorry, deepest condolences. RIP

Thats a good one! Good luck with him FastEddie hope to see you in pics with him this year!
-
Welcome aboard, great to have you!

I use to do it all the time but being smart about the blood track makes me leery. Like stated above if it is light and stopping ok but no heavy rain due to tracking issues.

Scary how our school systems and society is teaching kids how to become an adult who is offended by basically anything and are taught everyone is a winner no matter how you act in the real world. Snowflake seems to be the norm now and crazy how they are the future! Example above is spot on and crazy!

One thing I can say is try to get a light small pair, they are much more user friendly to a hunter and you are more apt to use it. Also test them out, each one is different and a really good pair in the 1,000 and up range are far better than the cheap ones but cheap ones are easy to replace and no big deal if they brake. I use a cheap pair of bushnell I think they are 10-40. Actually looking for a good pair that I do not have to spend 1000 dollars on in the same 200-300 range, let me know what you find and how you like them!

Wow that is a fast bow! Lucky I did not try that one out or I might want 2 bows this year! Good luck with it, Mathews makes great bows!

Looks like the expression on the anti Trump voters after he won! Just need to add a few tears, lol. Sorry I could not help myself! Awesome as always Wooly!!!

Hope everyone at one point gets to wrap there hands around one of these beauties! Good luck this year!

These are all NY bucks. Top 2 from ADK next 2 from Catskill area, last 2 Long Island. All shooters, hope this gets the blood pumping!!! Only top 2 are mine.

That bright color on the outside of the housing is just for that purpose! I center the housing so I can see the circle perfectly, then I just need to put the pin on target. Keeps my left, right and elevation perfect.

Not to many new hunters coming into the fray, most are stuck playing games on the computer or playing on the phone. Sad but this is not just NY it is nation wide. Hunting and the pursuit of game is on the decline, makes me wonder if hunting will be present 50-100 years from now.

They look much bigger in person!!!

Moose River possible? A bunch in the area, we actually try to avoid them, thankfully the rut is over when we go! I thought the same thing Bionic but then how many places look similar? Looks like area about 2 miles from where we camp at lost ponds just before you get to the crest of the hill area where the handicap camp site is located. At least that's what I though being I have seen them in that location before. Lucky for these 2 the big boy from Helldiver was not around, if he is still around.

Get well soon FastEddie! Hope they get the proper meds for your condition and you can get back to what you love. Prayers sent.

LIKE! I ran out of them, lol. Congrats, awesome first buck and one great shot!

Anything that floats my boat, usually in the 8 point 2.5 year old on the ground and 3.5 year old from a tree. But I still usually pass the 2.5 on Long Island as 3.5's and older are present. Not sure if I will pass the 2.5's this year, depends on how I feel at the time.
