  1. Someone here must live close to him ....... I'd gladly knock on his door for you.
  2. Well that really sucks , is he a member here ? Did you look up the address is it to a house ? I've done several deals with people on some forums I belong to. One is a knife forum where the guys are all close and you can check their references( these are knives often into the three figures) , the other is The Rolex forum where there are trusted sellers with hundreds of references . It's always been the buyer pays first and item is shipped on receipt of funds ,with a short examination period when it can be returned . I hope it works out for you.
  3. No that's the cats job.... She lines them up at the back door. Gus mostly eats a lot of dirt and pulls out roots, probably drives them out another hole where the cat is waiting.
  4. I have one cord for all my stands and it stays in my pack. I use the water bottle holder like one uses a rope bag.
  5. Yep my goals this year are to get my oldest daughter out a bit more in gun and finally up in a tree stand.....( she's going to start by sitting in one on afternoon hunts with a camera while I bow hunt ) . Then my goal is to get her a deer, which mean's I give up my best opening day spot ! My goal is to hunt smarter not more, that's a challenge but I'm laying off most of the early season .
  6. I can see guys not knowing , and I'm not making excuses for them but...... Most hunters have not even heard of this forum much less visit it, same for Outdoor News, and a 30 second news story is easy to miss since, many never watch TV news. What I don't get is don't they ever talk to other bow hunters ? it's been brought up to me by every bow hunter I know. Also throw in the NY Hunting / Trapping guide that Comes with ones lic. In my world it would be bolded in Orange on the cover. It's not even mentioned in it under " Highlights of Changes " !!! You have to go to the maps of seasons to find anything and even then there is no separate text on it that I could find. Still it falls on the hunter to know .
  7. Hunted this afternoon after doing some stand work . Got two soakers, forgot my binoculars and brought two right hand gloves.
  8. Nice job Moog! I had 3 bucks come through tonight , after the button a very large bodied decent racked buck hanging out 15 yards behind me . I don't really want to come back at all until Oct 16 th now..... I may hunt one of my lesser stands in hopes of whacking a doe and not messing up the good stands.
  9. Nomad

    Scoutlook

When it tried to upgrade it never really worked at all. So I switched to Hunt Stand
  10. Can't shoot bucks, it's to early, to warm , to windy. Yet here I sit with two soakers and two right hand gloves ..
  11. Yes but it isn't parts of Ontario County such as 8J not under the doe only first two weeks ?
  12. I think they must be, how else do I explain my phone "ringing " when I'm on stand when I know I put it on silent, if they're not messing its me ....,,
  13. The blackmail part is if bow hunters don't up their doe kills then a muzzle loader season will be put in with bow season . That threat is not there with AR's ,Sept hunts or any of the other things you mentioned. Almost all bow hunters are also gun hunters , as one I'm only going to kill X number of deer if I do it in bow I won't in gun, most I know are like that, the dec knows that . Last year I killed two doe ,both in gun because I can pick where and the time , I guess it would be better for the herd if I kill them in bow ?
  14. Fix a fabric seat on a ladder stand( which I'll do the first time I use it) , and cut a trail trough some cat tails across a drainage ditch .
  15. We got married Nov. 4th !! I did not bow hunt then, started the next year......... We go out to dinner for our anniversary in Jan. Hey she married a trophy husband sometimes there is a cost attached to that. Oh and she came with acreage in 8H ! 27 years of marriage and not one major fight, seems to work for us.
  16. Yep it sucks here, please don't come hunt around where I do, the bucks are all small and sometimes I have to wear a third layer !!!
  17. I've owned two bows in my 27 years of bow hunting , used fixed cut on contacts the whole time. Both bows shoot field points and broadheads the same , as they should.
  18. edited because I read the post wrong....
  19. Yep I'm lucky in both my job and wife. She does not care one bit how much I hunt. I work 15 days a month , half of those nights which in theory means I can hunt a bit during those days. I take off about four weeks during the season as well. I know guys who's wife's freak out if they hunt two weekends in a row!!! I tell them the same thing gun season is 3 weeks out of 52, how can she possibly care ? Idk some Marry the wrong person in my opinion . We could not go on a honeymoon after we got married because I used up my time off a couple months prior canoeing in the Yukon.
  20. Shot my practice broadheads again today, numbered the arrows and put my hunting ones on . Washed my hunting clothes ,went through the pack, and put my lic. In my wallet. So starting to feel like it's time. I'm off wed thur sat. May sit thur. Afternoon . Each year at this time my wife says, " see you around Christmas " !!!
