  1. Congrats Biz! Really nice truck! I'm sure moog can give advice on putting carpet in the bed!
  2. Great news! Keep us updated with the new stuff please.
  3. What an old warrior buck!!! No doubt that he out played more than a few hunters during his lifetime. As always you did an absolutely beautiful job with the mount. Really awesome work!
  4. Fox are very intelligent, opportunistic feeders. If they come across a very young fawn, they will not go back to their den hungry. And the kits will have full bellies too. That is natures way. If there are too many predators on your hunting property, hunting or trapping them can be a necessary, and fun way to help keep them in check.
  5. $40?......for how many lures.....like 45? Man that's a deal! Even if ya have to hand tune them a little, or change out the hooks, it's well worth it! The colors and paint look great! Thanks for the tip my friend!
  6. Used to be some nice bass in that pond years ago Rob. Years ago, we would catch some at Thompsons Lake and put em in that pond. Last time I fished there I caught one 4+ pounds! Haven't fished it in at least 20 years now. But hopefully there are still some in there for ya. Good luck my friend. A couple years ago, I heard DEC staked out a bait pile, near where you found one, and arrested two scumbags!! Unfortunately on state land, you get all kinds. We usually have a trespasser or two ticketed every year from there. One group of scum we have had problems with for years. But we make it hard on them! Perhaps you and I can team up for a hunt this fall?
  7. Congratulations!!! I love a good love story. Seems like the longer you're together, the closer you become.
  8. Great pic's!!!! Way to go guys!! Some great memories were made for sure.
  9. I have yet to find a color Senko that doesn't catch fish!! But 'Baby Bass'.......is up there with my favorites!
  10. Joe Biden is "ALMOST" as much of a goofball, as Andy Cuomo! And his biggest claim to fame is being Obama's lacky. That should make him a great President. Right? Sorry but no.
  11. Great pictures! And it's awesome you are getting out in nature, learning and enjoying!! I grew up right above Thatcher Park, and have been walking that area for well over 50 years now. We have property that borders it, along where picture #2 was taken. That path goes back to what we still call Boyce's pond, pic #9. Until the late 80's, that land back there belonged to a man named Bill Boyce. And we had sole permission to hunt it all, including our land. Before he died, Bill gave/sold, his land to the state, so that it would be forever wild, and not developed. It is a beautiful parcel of land, enjoyed by many. Just as Bill wanted. Lots of wildlife there too. On occasion you may even see a bear or two. The deer are there, but not in the numbers they used to be. I have even taken a couple members back in there, to show them the lay of the land, and suggested a couple spots to hunt.
  12. Nice pic's! Beautiful there. Have fun with the grandkids, and enjoy your vacation Cynthia!!!
  13. So confusing.....who is the real Belo???? All this name changing, of members picking up other members names, I really don't find amusing at all.
  14. Come October, if that deer even gets a small whiff of a human at 100 yards, He will be bolting away!!!.........
  15. Public or private land, I feel it would be quieter and less noise, and work, to just set up downwind, in a natural ground hide, close to where deer travel. The tree saddle may be comfortable?? I've never tried one. But it wouldn't be for me, with the line in the way, not to mention the tree. And also, it seems more movement is required to move into position for a shot? If I were on the move, and found some smoking hot deer sign, I'd just plop down next to the closest available cover, with the wind in my face. Wouldn't make a hint of noise to alert the deer that are likely bedded within hearing distance. Over 90% of my deer hunting is done from the ground. So much easier. And when I do get above ground, the easiest and most comfortable way to go is the ladder stand. JMO
  16. Happy Birthday Brad!!!! Hope your day is filled with family fun! And at least one cold one!......
  17. Not too far from Cooperstown. Besides the baseball hall of fame, there are all kinds of family things to do there. Good for a full day of family fun! The farmers museum with the period 1800's dress, and old working equipment, and hand tools, is pretty cool for kids and adults as well. I live about 45 minutes away from Fort Plain. If ya run out of things to do, shoot me a PM, and I'll take you fishing on the Mohawk.
  18. So sad. And most times preventable, with the wearing of a PFD.
  19. Very nice boat Jerry! And you got a great deal on it too! Have fun!!
  20. Welcome back my friend! Fantastic work as always Matt!! Love the chainsaw self portrait!!! See ya before fall!
  21. Way to go Dan! Sounds like a great trip indeed! Big thumbs up to tree guy too! Andrew gave spot on info to ya! Moog really should pay more attention to his info too! Especially range estimation!
  22. The one thing I was blessed to be born with, is a VERY strong sense of direction. To the point where it kinda freaks people out sometimes. Yes, I'm very good at reading a map and compass. But they mostly confirm what my sense of direction tells me. For instance, I most always do Deer Search sorties at night. With the woods free of hunters. I'll pull up to the hunters property, take a compass bearing, and head into woods I've never seen in daylight. After sometimes going in circles through thick brush for a mile or more, we recover the deer or not. Then the hunter who lives on this property says I'm not sure which way is out? I just seem to know, and point, that way. How do you know that, he'll say? I don't know, I just do. Sometimes I'll confirm it with my compass, sometimes not. But I always head straight for my truck. And it leaves the hunter scratching his head. "How in the heck did you know that"? I just shrug???? Oh I've been turned around many times in the woods since I started roaming them, on my own, as a young lad. But always found my way out, without too much trouble. My maternal grandmother was full blood native American. And I was brought to the reservation in NC many times, when I was a young boy. My great uncles taught me some of the ways. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. But I like to think so.......?
  23. It has become somewhat of a tradition on the 4th. But I can't stomach to watch it. Kinda grosses me out.
  24. Happy Birthday Paula!!!! You really ARE hotter than the 4th of July my friend!!!....wink....wink. Enjoy your special day with all the good stuff coming your way! Give Bones and Otis a scratch behind the ear too.
