  1. This time, SE coast with my Mrs. This fall, up near Greenville with my hunting buddy for deer/bear.
  2. Thanks for the kind words fella's. But all the thanks I needed was in the smiles and fist bumps from our newest hunters. I highly encourage anyone with a few years experience behind them, to become an instructor or mentor. We need more, as the need is definitely there to bring new blood into hunting, and shooting. They are the ones who will carry the flag into the future for us. The giving back to our hunting future, will be rewarded in so many ways. There is a bunch of hoops to jump through, to become an instructor these days, but well worth it in satisfaction gained, by sharing what you love with others.
  3. Plenty of time to pick up a new firearm for a hunt six months away. 7mm-08 or 270 would be perfect for lopes IMO. I have handled a couple Bergara's while at my local gun shop, and found them to be very nice looking and comfortable, though I've never shot one. But I do have a Sako 85 Classic in 270 that would fit the bill for a hunt like you are going on. Walnut and blued steel, that shoots better than I am capable of. Smooth as churned butter. And as pretty as a beagle pup!
  4. I'm good without it. Never had it, so don't know what I'm missing. I listen to CD's and classic rock and country on the local stations. When traveling, I'll just hit the search button on the radio, till something comes up I like. My grandson is going to show me how to take songs from my phone, and play them in the new car that has Bluetooth?
  5. Happy Birthday! Hoping all the best comes your way today! Cheers to you sir!............. I'll be up to Maine in a couple weeks. I'll let em know your coming!!!
  6. Most likely we would take them, if the homework was completed? But I'd have to check with our senior instructor, on that to make sure we weren't violating any DEC rules. He is more knowledgeable on that end of it than I. We had planned for a class of 33, but one was a no show, and three canceled too late for us to repost the openings, on the DEC website. Especially if I knew YOU were coming, even late, we could maybe get you in, due to always having some no shows. It is too bad with the ones who don't show up, because we are posted as full, and that turns away ones who "would" or "could" be there. So again, if I'm not breaking any DEC rules, I'd do all I could to help get your boys a seat. Even at the last minute.
  7. We added 29 new hunters to our ranks today, from our NYS Hunter Education Course! About half kids, and the other half was split between adult women and men. A cold blustery day out there for the field exercises, but all passed with good scores! A great class. They asked lots of questions, even during break times. I arrived at 7am, for set up, and sign in, and left at 5:20pm, after clean up. Was also there last night after work for an hour or so. But the high fives and smiling faces, after handing out their certificates, was so much worth any time spent. This giving back to something, I've loved my whole life, is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. After today, there are 29 more hunters out there that I'd be proud to share the woods with.
  8. HaHaHa.........better watch out Tacks, or the grammar police might getcha!!!! Staying on topic.......I prefer a canoe. Much more stable, and can carry more stuff.
  9. The socialist left, the way they are pushing now, will never nominate him. They will likely nominate Bernnie Sanders over Joe Biden. They will probably beat each other up a bit too, before either one faces off against Trump.
  10. They sure did!! I almost pulled the trigger to use it on some smaller local lakes, that I can't launch my bass boat on.
  11. Nice caller at a great price!!! Having just bought a bow from silent death, I can say he's a real good guy. Heck maybe I'll sell the E-caller I have, and buy this one? It's better than what I have now.
  12. Nice!!!! You and the family will have a great time making memories!
  13. Way to go Mike! Nice bow! I too upgraded for a new to me bow this year. I'm loving it!
  14. Beautiful mount. Great buck! Congratulations John.
  15. Simply awesome. Congratulations to you both, again! Euro's look fantastic. Now keep it going you two! I wholeheartedly agree Jay. This forum has some pretty special people.
  16. Never heard of, or used the 'trout magnet' so I googled it! Looks like I may have to pick some up! Thanks Rob! Just something new to try, after I run out of tippets that the trees and bushes ate..........
  17. I feel ANY youth sports is a great thing. With all the negative stuff out there these days, trying to influence kids, to see them get motivated about ANYTHING is a positive. Just the social interaction, and team bonding, its a huge character builder, that will serve them well later in life.
  18. That's great! You got a good ball player there! That was a heck of a game! He must really enjoy playing. Is he playing Rec, Travel and Fall Ball this year? My grandson is playing JV, he's 14 and a freshman. Along with A team travel. He's hurt right now with a winged scapula. Doing PT and hopefully will be back next week. He was pitching in the low 80s until he got hurt. (Not a throwing injury). He's also a catcher and infielder. 6'5" and 215lbs. Big kid for his age. Love watching him play.
  19. Nice work moog, looks great!
