When my grandsons were little, I picked up the small vest type PFD's for them. Though the orange over the neck ones are better than nothing, they are not as good as the vest type. The vest type can be snugged up much better with the side and front adjustments. And are much more comfortable too. Walmart should have some. I found mine at BPS. I gave them away when the boys out grew them. Or I would have gladly sent them to you Dom.

Was wondering where ya were, and what you were up to? Shoulda known you were just creating more greatness! Looks awesome buddy!

Bonnie says the same thing!!......lol Says they creep her out, cause the eyes seem to follow her. So after we moved off "the hill", my mounts were relegated to the basement, instead of the living room wall. Fine with me, all my other hunting stuff is down there. Got some euro mounts upstairs in my reading room. They creep her out too, but I draw the line there. I know I don't have room for a 400 to 500 inch stag though! But a 150 inch whitetail would fit very nicely!!!! Again, this sounds like the trip of a lifetime!!! Hope to see you pull it off!!

Looks like an epic bucket list hunt! Moog, you will need to expand your trophy room for that Red Stag mount!!! Best of luck!! Hope you guys can do it!!

Absolutely nothing wrong with legally shooting young bucks. Over the years I've shot a good number of them. And proud of every one of em too! At this stage of my hunting career, I "choose" to hunt bucks with a little more age on them for the added challenge. But in no way does that mean I'll "never" shoot another young one! Depends on the circumstances? It is very important to me, to not lose sight of why I hunt. And not be caught up in the quest to shoot older bucks, and lose sight of the many reasons I enjoy being out there! Shoot What You Like...........Like What You Shoot. Pretty simple recipe for deer hunting enjoyment. No one size fits all. No hunter should ever question, what another hunter decides to shoot! And no hunter should ever feel diminished by what they "choose" to shoot. It's all hunting. And it's all good my friends.

Alcohol and firearms do not mix well. I have a zero tolerance for combining the two. I got up and left immediately, at a get together last summer. When some idiot, after drinking most of the afternoon decided to show off his new gun. This person should have known better too.

Yes. Do you have hard water? The calcium sediment slowly builds, and settles around the element and shorts it out. I'm no expert. Just a homeowner who had a similar experience. Good luck!

I had a similar issue a few years ago. Turned out to be a heating element. The bottom one.

My custom M1 carbine hunting rifle
grampy replied to Rattler's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
A beautiful rifle Rattler! I love the sporterized look of it! So cool that you've had it all these years, and still take it hunting. Do you have a pic with it laying on a deer? This is surely a rifle to pass on to a son or daughter one day. To continue making memories. -
Stuff you've owned, has worked out very well for me!

Definitely looks like fun Dan. Will have to pick a date and go! This Saturday is out for me unfortunately. I am heading the archery committee at Woodlawn Sportsmans Club this year. We are planning to do some shoots there too. Along with a youth archery day. All invited! Will come back with the info when we nail down the date.

Charges dropped on Jussie Smollett
grampy replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This is a shock, even for Chicago, one of the most corrupt cities in America. Seems ol' Jussie is connected to some powerful people like Jesse Jackson, Kamala Harris, and the Obama's as "family friends". Surprise Surprise.......... No doubt that this "justice" will serve to narrow the racial divide, that that those listed above, have worked so hard at, for so long????? Even if Jussie's goal was to widen it for personal gain. Or not????....................... The average citizen, no matter the color of their skin should be able to clearly see how "Justise" served Jussie. -
Happy Birthday!!!

Right!! I do have to put 7' rods in diaganaly, in the bed of my Frontier. But they do fit! (barely) Given a fair share of decent bucks a last ride back there too.

Congrats on the win moog!!! This really is a smokin deal for anyone wanting a quality rifle, chambered in one of the finest whitetail rounds ever.

Keeping ducks, someone please talk me out of it
grampy replied to The_Real_TCIII's topic in General Chit Chat
A few years ago we got a few ducks to keep at the farm property. The foxes and coyotes really enjoyed the buffet. -
I refuse to hide the fact that I am a hunter. On public land, I won't hunt right on a hiking trail. But if someone has an issue with me being seen with a gun or bow in my hand, that's their problem. I have as much right to be there as they do. I don't intend to infringe on their activity, they shouldn't infringe on mine. Don't disparage my camo and hunting implement, and I won't make fun of your stupid looking hiking and biking shorts!

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling up to snuff Larry. My hunting partner suffers with the gout, as well as a couple other guys I know. All say it's excruciating!! They tell me cutting alcohol and certain shellfish, like shrimp and scallops, along with other dietary changes, helps to cut down on the flair ups. Hope you feel better soon my friend.

Looks like a great time! Nice pic's too! Thanks for sharing.

I agree. No doubt Weber is top of the line. But.......I get a nice NEW grill every few years for 20-25 years, for the price of ONE Weber. And I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between a venison burger cooked on a Weber or an on sale cheapie.
