  1. DEC regulations are the same, be it public or private land. I suggest you get a copy of the regulations guide and read it front to back.
  2. Does it make me a bad person, if I've always bitten the heads off the animals first???
  3. Still carrying my 20 year old Mathews MQ-32. I think about a new bow every year. Have even shot a few. They are light years ahead of my old bow. But this old bow feels like an old pair of comfortable boots to me. Still hits where I aim it, and as recently as last year, still kills deer. Think I'll keep it "one more year".......................
  4. He's out there somewhere!!!! Good luck, and have fun out there Brian.
  5. Happy Birthday Big Val!!! Enjoy your special day sir!
  6. In our neck of the woods, being our properties are only a couple miles apart. A buck like that would be about as good as it gets for us Matt! On a general basis, WNY bucks definitely have much bigger antlers than we see here. But ours are BIGGER, using the Pa. chest girth measurement! ..........grin.
  7. Good for you, not going along with them putting the screws to ya! The place where I purchased two ATVs, (Troy City Garage) were my "best friends", until after they had my cash. Then they tried nickle and diming me for everything they could, on sevice and parts. And treated me like I was a scumbag! After spending thousands in cash! Finally had enough, and told the service manager (part owner) what I thought of him, his business practices, lack of honesty, and integrity. In not so nice words, not very quietly, in front of other customers in the showroom. I'd had enough! Started using (Ronnies) and those guys are fantastic! Always treated very fairly, for any parts and service. Always friendly and honest too. If quoted, that's what you pay! Could be why they are becoming the best dealership in this area.
  8. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. May all the beautiful memories of a lifetime, with a great man, such as your Pop. See you all through this very difficult time. So sorry for your loss.

    E Bikes

I see mountain bikers back there all the time. The E-Bike is just as quiet, and will do no more damage than a mountain bike. When it gets to the Bad Boy Buggies, that will be a bit different though, as they are much larger and heavier. The electric motor technology has come a long way in recent years. The batteries last longer and the motors are much stronger and more compact.
  10. The artist at work! Love it! Easy to see why they seem to find homes so quickly! The ones with the open mouths, seem to have facial expressions, that's really cool! Hard to pick a favorite, as they are all awesome! Of course for me, it would be the owl. Followed closely by the bear with the tracks on the base. Can't wait to see the deer, and the other ideas you have, get worked out. I gotta ask this question...... can you see the carving you want to make, inside the log before making the first cut? Jeez...... may have to make a road trip, to bring one home with me!!

    E Bikes

Good question Bill. The signs say "No Motorized Vehicles", So I would assume that would include "anything" with a motor, electric or otherwise? Will follow this as I'm not completely sure myself. Those newer E-Bikes look pretty cool. Quiet, and could get you way back in quicker and easier. I think it would be tough packing a deer out with one though.
  12. My first line of defence is always alertness, and keeping calm. After that, and should TSHTF, I have a shorty 12g with XXX in the tube and more on the stock.. For back up, Ruger SR1911 in 45.
  13. My favorite is Tri-Flow. Started using it in the print shops, we called it mechanic in a can. Use it for all my firearms too.
  14. Thanks for the reminder! Ours is really loud now. WD 40 is great stuff! All kinds of uses.
  15. Nice Bucks Hock3y24 ! Are you getting excited yet? You should be!!!
  16. Partridge Run and Cole Hill, hold good numbers of deer. And some mature bucks as well. And surprisingly, you can find great spots, without coming in contact with other hunters. Thacher with the baiting, and constantly changing rules, is a joke anymore. Most are hunting the Carrick Rd. side of Thacher, from what I've seen. On the Ryan Rd. side, not too many were killed last year. And it seems to be overcrowded, for the small area. Shame for sure. Martha Burke is another good spot, but again, can get crowded as well.
  17. Absolutely Terrible Form..........
  18. That's a stinky job! Coming up to help with whatever, will keep you camping and hunting for years in the future. Good for you Rob. Too much entitlement going around these days. Helping out the landowners is always so much appreciated, by the landowners!
  19. Nice pic's! That spot sure has good deer activity.
  20. I've been seeing a few more small bucks lately, but no hard horn yet. Soon enough though. Will check the cam's we just put out, in a couple weeks. Will likely see hard antler by then. I agree too, that the mature bucks will be the first to shed velvet.
  21. ALL... fawns, will carry their spots until they grow the first winter coat. More coyotes everywhere it seems. DEC should really consider not having a closed season on them. That would save "some folks" from having to shoot, shovel, and shutup. When their properties are being over run with them.
