I like that added protection in the front, thats pretty slick! I will look into doung something similar for my set up. Never seen this before, thanks for the tip!

Too funny! lmao No poll. They seem to get deleted anyways!.................................

Shoot what you like. Like what you shoot. Don't worry about what others may or may not do! As you have no control over that. I will say, next year he will be a nice eight pointer!

You being a traditional archer, I think you would really enjoy the Hunting October Whitetails videos! Check em out if ya get the chance.

I have no problem using a crossbow to stay in the woods for archery season. But I will save the disabled permits, for the ones who are truly disabled. I just want to participate, don't want special treatment. Perhaps full inclusion at some point would keep me active from Oct. 1st.? But that has been debated to death here. No need to dwell on that again. I have shot shot my bow at 70lb easily, for decades. Now my bow is set at 52lbs. To go any lower, I'd need a different bow. And not sure I want to purchase another bow at this point. Besides the pain, the main issue is my right shoulder locking up and not being able to come to full draw, with my elbow up. Have tried to shoot with the elbow down, closer to my body. Messes up my form, big time, but starting to adjust.

The commentary along with the pictures, are top notch John! Haystack is within grasp now to make you an official 46er! But your trail savy and experience, shows how good of a hiker/woodsman, you have been to get there! 45 down 1 to go! Here's to you and Haystack my friend!.....................

Same here. Been shooting a couple arrows here and there since last winter, when my shoulder allows it. Had surgery done on it last year, but still can't draw and hold, my bow for more than a couple shots most days. Sadly, the end of my bowhunting is within sight now. Even with all the PT and stuff, not much improvement. Doc said we could try another surgery, no thanks!!! Shot a buck with my bow last year. Thought then, that it was probably the last one with a bow. I may have one more left in me for this year. Will have to see??? Grandson is shooting good though! In the future, maybe he'll let his grampy tag along with him! In the very near future, I'll be forced to hunt whatever the crossbow season is. Giving up my true love of the bow. But it's been a nice 41 year run though. Hoping to make it 42 this year??

Those two video's are still the best ever made, IMO! Todays, deer video's and TV shows, could really use more guys like Barry and Gene Wensel.

We have the Altamont Fair just minutes away, but it's only a shell of what it used to be. Haven't gone in years. The Cobleskill fair is a little farther away, but it's much more "country". We usually go to this one. The NYS fair in Syracuse, has it all, as far as shows, attractions, foods and most everything you could find at a fair. We go to this one most years too.

I was a kid with "issues" way back when. Though I never hurt anyone but myself. Some, that know me now, might say I turned out ok. I had an old farmer, and a couple of his buddies take me under their wing. A fatherless kid just needed the right guidance. Perhaps this kid could use some guidance? Rob, you are in my mind, the kind of guy that could do it. I've never taken someone elses word for how someone else was. I always made my own decision after an eye to eye meeting. Many times "they" were right. Many times "they" were wrong about someone. Sometimes, we just need the benefit of doubt to prove ourselves. Ok, to the question at hand. Since you are very well liked by the owners of the 12 acres, understandably so, may I add. I'm sure they have talked to the neighbors, and told them about you. If not, no doubt they would do so for you. Seems like you have a wonderful opportunity to do good on the neighboring property! Even the "kid" is there, or not. Good luck my friend.

Lucia's in Rotterdam. Pizza Gram, or Ruggerio's in Guilderland. Piesano's in Altamont. Those are our primary pizza places for either sausage, peppers and onion. Pepperoni. Or five cheese pizzas. Sometimes even a white garlic pizza. Not much kissing after pizza night at grampy's house.......hehehe

I've had the Summit Viper for quite a few years now. Though I don't use it much anymore, it's still a very good option, for setting up on hot sign, right away. Also agree, that it's a very comfortable stand! Sometimes too comfortable! ........zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Yes sir, sounds good! Been enjoying iced coffee this summer!

Bill is a great guy! I've met, and purchased some stuff from him in the past too. Always a pleasure to talk to. Hope we can get together for a hunt this season!

Some tie down straps at the stern of the boat to the trailer would have prevented this. Even smaller crafts should always be secured at the stern while being trailered. Prevents the craft from going forward or backwards. Bet this guy has quite the insurance mess to deal with!

If you reload or know someone who does, use a bullet puller to make the round inert. Spray the inside of the cartridge with WD40 to soak the primer. You can use the powder, as fertilizer for your garden! Toss the rest in the trash or recycle bin.

Prayers sent for your grandson, you, and your family. I sincerely hope everything will be fine. God bless you all. PM me if there is anything I can do to help.

That's great shooting. Atta girl Haley!

I've spent a lot of time fishing from a canoe. Like you said, plenty of room for your fishing gear and easy to paddle and get around. Only thing is, for me, I need to stand and stretch every so often. That can be a bit dicy at times in a canoe. But easy to load and launch is a big plus. I know it's not one of your listed options, but have you thought about a small john boat? Again, easy to load and launch, plenty of room, but a lot more stable than a canoe. Could even get a trolling motor for the back to extend your fishing distance. And would be nice coming back against the wind! Whatever way you go, will increase your fishing opportunities, by getting off the bank. To be able to fish deeper weedlines, drop offs, secluded points and bays, will definitely put more fish on your line. Good luck.

Coming along nicely! I really enjoy this thread. Cudo's to you sir!
