Just heard on news , dicks will be destroying remaining A/R’s
grampy replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Yup. Runnings in Gloversville is a great place! Went last Sunday, and dropped $300, on more reloading stuff there. Got a Dicks/Field and Stream much closer. But they will not see a dime of my hard earned cash!!! -
Have you considered a four foot culvert pipe cut to six feet in length? Then just fill in the sides and top, with rock and soil. Ready made bridge that has worked for us.

The thick thorns, and underbrush that will move in, soon after logging, will act like a deer magnet!

Being new to all this. I never realized, just how many different powders are available! Literally hundreds of powder, caliber, bullet combinations! And a powder, that would be perfect in one round, may be much less desirable in another, or not work at all. Due to burn rates. Never knew any of this, until I recently decided to try reloading. But thanks to you guy's, I am learning!!! Picked up a bunch more supplies over the weekend. Getting closer to my first loads. But still have much more to sort out. Who say's an old dog can't learn new tricks???.................grin

Yes. It makes perfect sense. Thanks Bob.

You are absolutely right! I don't want to go "close enough". Should have known better. The book didn't have these two rounds using the same powder. So I'll just go by the book. Especially since I'm so new to reloading. Was just thinking, with almost the same bullet, why couldn't I use the same powder??? Better I stop thinking, and just follow the book. Thanks guy's!

Just picked up some IMR-4831 powder to use for reloading 270 win. With a 140 gr. Nosler BT. using 51.5 grains of powder. My question, to the reloading guru's here, is could I use this powder for 7mm-08 too? Would be using 140 gr. Nosler BT's for this as well. Was thinking 44.5 grains? Or should I just go out and try to find some 'Big Game' powder, as that is what Nosler says is most accurate, using the same 45.5 grains? The more I learn about this stuff. The more I realize, how much I don't know, and how much more I need to learn!!!!

Awesome looking pup there Grizz! A lifetime of love and fun is only two weeks away!
-
We are at least two weeks behind with the weather we've been having. The very first breeding is super hot. And just as Tacks said, we usually miss it, as it happens before May first. Not this year! Should be lots more gobbling and eager Tom's, than we've seen in quite some time! Might not seem like it now, but the crappy weather this spring, will help the turkey hunters!

Happy Birthday! Enjoy all the good things, surely coming your way today sir!

R.I.P. Gunny. You were never Mamby Pamby!

Alivia is the cutest little helper!.........lol Hope the shells pattern perfect for you! Nice work. And nice trophies in the background too!
-
Nice stand. But not very mobile........grin.

Nice! If you can go at least 15 ft, a rock pond will sustain trout. My grandfather had one on the farm. Caught my first trout out of it, with him laughing, along side of me. One of my earliest, and best memories.

He looked alot bigger when I shot em!
-
That is cool! As always, amazing work my friend!
-
Solid advice Rob. Thanks!
-
I've put close to 200 rounds through her in the year I've had it. Smiled after every shot too!
-
Manuals look nice! Thanks! Since I'm new to this, I'll look into it? I'm learning lots of interesting stuff. Can't wait to start feeding some fire formed rounds into our Sako! Still have a few boxes of ammo that you sent me, to shoot up and use the brass!
-
×2 Thank You!
-
Could be foxes too. Either way, would be a great spot for a trail cam, like gennesee said. Them pups are always cute.
-
Got them today! Thanks Dan! Hoping to get out this weekend, to pick up more of what I'll need to get started. These 270win, will be the very first ones I'll make up.

What a great picture! Congratulations on a beautiful animal my friend! Kudu has to be among the best looking animals in Africa! IMO. Not to derail the thread.....but you gotta tell me about that beautiful rifle in the pic too! -
