What’s going on with this deer?
BowmanMike replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Geez, you guys dont know about aging and going grey? What a lucky bunch. -
You shoikd definitely stay away from mechanicals with that Draw weight. I shot both muzzys and montecs and they performed similar. Magnus makes a good head as well.
-
You should have no problem getting them razor sharp. I would sharpen the blades individually so the other ones dont get in they way.You probably dont have a sharpening jig,so just treat the blades like mini knives. You will know when they are sharp enough.

happy birthday Larry. Looks like you had a great time yesterday.

Everyone is a beginner at some point. More hunters wont change my approach,i am fully mobile and excited to hunt public. At least during bow season,i doubt i will hunt public land during gun season.

Milford, rigjt between Oneonta and Cooperstown has a good reputation as well. Those are the top three school districts i think. I don't have kids so no first hand experience, but i know some teachers and of course people with kids. Good luck with the house hunt @Chef

Haha, old post for sure. Do you have kids that will be attending high school? If you dont care about the school district i would look in a half.hour circle around Cooperstown, land is a lot cheaper outside of the Cooperstown school district. Maybe towards schenevus or worcester area, that would put you closer to I-88 if you still have to travel downstate for work. Plus schenevus creek is awesome for fishing and that area is very pretty too in my opinion. Some stateland in that direction too,but it is spread nicely through 4F. East Meredith is a pretty area too and would put you close to Rt. 28. There are lots of options and some good land to be had. Start looking now so you will know a good deal when you find it.

Biden/Harris 2020!
BowmanMike replied to Delete's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
They are here already. There is some middle of the road approach, not all or nothing. The middle of the road depends on your point of view,if you are very far left or right the middle seems closer to you from your side. -
Switching to Fixed Blade with new string

You are right, confidence in ones setup is most important. When i said moving deer i mean after the shot, not shooting at running deer. You are 100% right that most gunshots are at deer not standing still. -

Ok,wasn't sure if legal immigration was ok for you fellas. So the Democrats want open borders, anyone can come on in? I wasnt aware of that. -

Deer move. All i am saying is it seems like a good idea to have an arrow that has a good chance of going through the shoulder into the vitals. Recovery of gutshot deer has more to do with how one goes about it than cutting diameter of the arrow in my opinion. There is no comparison to bullets because deer are not fast enough to dodge one. You miss your poi with a bullet it is all the shooters fault. With arrows it isnt, sure can be,but doesn't have to be. -

All it takes is for someone to support gun rights and they get your vote? That is a pretty narrow view of the world. Oh,immigration is on that list too maybe. This country was built on immigration, and slave labor. But we should close the borders now? Why? -

Whats our president then,a pimp? Screwing a porn star and paying her off to keep her quiet. That's paying twice, haha. -
Switching to Fixed Blade with new string

Not that many people will get a 475 grain arrow to fly over 300 fps even. I would guess less than 10% of all shooters. My old arrows weighing 325 total didnt crack 300 fps, with a 330 fps rated bow at 30" DL. -
Putting them in the quiver even dulls them.

Switching to Fixed Blade with new string

The main issue is deer move after one shoots, sometimes anyway. The vitals may not be where your arrow goes, even though you hit your mark. That's where a plan B arrow comes in,for me anyway. -
I am replacing my string every two years, but i shoot most of the year. You should definetely replace yours before next season in my opinion. You have to take your bow to a shop or a friend with a press to twist the string. It takes less than a minute.
-
It drove me nuts on my old bow. I think it might be time for a new string for you.
-
How old is your string? Sometimes all it takes is one twist or half twist of your string to straighten the peep back out. I used to have trouble with my three string one on my old bow and went to a two string one on my new bow. I like that better.

I am super excited this year. It is pretty bad every year, but this year is even more so. I got a saddle this spring and like it(insert Tacks smartass comment here). This setup is super light and i will be hunting a bunch of public land near me this year. I hope to grow a lot as a hunter with the new places and experiences. I also went to heavier arrows and can't wait to send one through a deer. This summer i have been listening to tons of hunting podcasts while at work and learned a bunch there that I hope to use in the woods.

I shoot the 125 grain version, they were $50 for three,so not terrible price wise. I hope to re-use them a lot. I have 100 gr brass inserts to help with the weight up front. These arrows drop more at 30 yards,20 yards was not much difference compared to my super light ones. I dont plan on shooting past 30 anyway. -
Most broadheads are far from scary sharp out of the box. @Hock3y24,does the angle adjust on that jig or is it a set one?
-
See ya!

Have you listened to Trump ? He doesn't come across as all there either. And the blinders argument goes both ways, just exchange the names or agenda.

I am with rob on this. They have to say chances are the same, but i have a feeling they figure other things into the process. I try to make a point of filling my dmp every year, that might be helpful. The goal is herd control,so i wouldnt be surprised if i get luckier because my dmp gets filled.
