So why would you keep this thread open, but close the new one and give those a vacation? Baiting is illegal in NY.
-
I prefer back straps far better than the inners.
-
We have a tradition. First deer of the yr in our butcher shop( private shop), the inners get pulled, rinsed off. There often warm when pulled, so they get cooled in ice water. There then fired with butter and enjoyed by whoever is there. I can safely say, there's no reason that I can figure out why some are tender and some not. We've had yearlings that were tough as hell and old hag does that were tender as butter. Same with bucks. Most deer died within seconds. With 12+ guys bringing their deer to the shop for the past 25+ yrs, that's a lot of deer.

Why keep this thread open then? Trying to bait someone into posting? Remove it or at least lock it up.

LIVE From The Woods 2021 Stories And Pictures Let's Have Em!

Tried for a birthday buck today. Came close. Seen a 4pt bedded down in a field I could sneak around for a shot. Only needed a couple more steps, and a second doe I didn't see, seen me. Only thing close enough to shoot were these two skippers. -
Thanks everyone. Greatly appreciated...

Lol, I've been called worse. I imagine some factors come into play. How fast did the deer die? If dead in a couple hrs, and it sits until the next morning, will make a difference compared to one that's alive several hrs and laid dead for only a couple hrs.

Only giving you my experience with gut shot deer, and how I handle the recovery.

Anyone Else Get a Message About Buying a BP Shotgun?
mowin replied to Splitear's topic in General Chit Chat
I think someone on here got burned by someone selling something in a similar way. If you can go see it, great. Shipping only, nope. -
To me " child" is a youth hunter that has to have a mentor.

I shot a doe yrs ago that was gut shot. 25° overnight. Found her the next morning. Cleaned and washed her out really good. Every time I cooked a piece of her, I'd get a slight hint of gut smell. Couldn't really taste it, but she went to dog food. It's the reason I will never let a gut shot sit overnight. I'll go back in at midnight.

Kinda have to agree with Chef... Kinda. We really don't have all the details, but it definitely sounds like the mentor didn't use good judgement as to the bullets path.
-
I think both are deer. The one jumping was probably getting pestered by a buck.
-
Great stuff. I also use it on the soles of my boots. Have watched does multiple times each yr cross my tracks and not get alarmed. Have had smaller bucks walk up to my stand a bunch of times. Can't say I've lured in a big buck with it, but not having does get nervous and alerting other deer in the area, is a win for me.

That's awesome. Congrats young man.

No injuries that keep me out of the woods for the opener, but in 2012 I had ankle fusion surgery scheduled on the Monday after the opener. Shot a little fork horn on the opening day. Managed to get out for a ML hunt. Sat in a clients garage and shot a big doe. My cousin did the grunt work.

Bought my first fake tree last year a few days after Xmas. $379.00 tree for $69.00. so looking forward to no more needles. Tree going up this week.

Congrats to Tim and everyone that made this happen. Think I got dust in my eyes...

Squirrels don't have necks. Disrespectful? Really?
-
Because someone shouldn't hunt just to impress a forum.
-
I guess you needed to find out because of pressure from this forum? I'd say f'em and shoot what you want. If you're happy with them and think they are a certain age, then go with that. Screw what the " forum" says.

Can't say anything that hasn't already been posted. Condolences to the family and friends.

Doesn't matter what you serve or eat. As long as family is Involved, how can one go wrong. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

I'm going to reserve my thoughts weather his vote counts or not until we hear what he's serving.
