Youth score a buck of a lifetime.

This came to me last night. During this last weekend, Sunday, a 15 year old youth was lucky enough to put his tag on the buck of a lifetime. This weekend was his first time hunting deer. 13 scorable points, going to gross in the mid 160's. Bases just shy of 8". Deer was aged at 5-1/2.  Taken at 20 yards

 

How do you top that in a hunting career.

I believe it's the 212...I heard he shot it with a 12ga and the 1st shot (to the head) only stunned it/knocked it out. Had to run up and shoot it a second time.

Boy, I've seen other people claim that their deer was 200+ lbs, but this one looks 350 lbs compared to some of those.  Maybe this kid is a small kid, but that deer is a major brute whichever way you look at him!

It helps when you angle the deer toward the cam and seat the hunter behind the deer. Not quite long-arming, but another similar tactic. Regardless, great buck.

You can use the rifle as a size reference.  If that is a Savage 212 then the rifle is 43" to 44" long.
