Which do you prefer..sitting a morning watchor an aftrernoon/night watch and why.

This time of year i will be in any chance i get.Early in the season i like to wait till the night watch as it seems the deer are out in the fields and i dont want to bump them.I just sit at night and catch them on the way back out.

I would prefer to hit one on the morning watch but most of mine have been taken on the evening  watch

i have only been seeing them lately in the morn. i love hunting the evenings but they have not been too productive for me... id prefer to hit one in the morn, leaves me some daylight to do the recovery and what not.

I prefer mid day as the season progresses.  I have taken more deer between 10am and 2 pm.  When most guys are coming our from their morning watch, I am settling in.  The deer pattern hunters, and seem to move more when the pressure is down.

I got for 2 hours in the morning and then walk in and then the last 3 hours prior to dark. I just do not do well trying to sit all day like I use to.

I usually hunt in the evenings due to how hard it is to get to my stands without bumping deer in the morning. That might have changed now that I shot my buck last Tue morning!

just remember to hunt closeer to bedding (woods) in the am and travel closer to food sources in the pm .... will put you in the game regardless

I like tracking deer in the mourning much better but mourning can be tough when the rut is not here but when it is here you just have to sit tight because eventually they will be coming through.

I prefer evening/afternoons because it's easier for me to stay awake, and I tend to get cold.  For some reason I can usually sit longer before getting cold in the afternoon.

I like mornings better, but do  some afternoons as well. Right now I'm doing 2 days of morning and afternoons , 1 day afternoon, repeat for 2 weeks.......... This lets me sleep in every 3rd day. But then this week I'm doing 4 mornings in a row !!

I'll only do afternoon if I'm off the next day, even though its been years since i had to track one more then 50 yards or so I don't like shooting them just before dark unless I can come back in the AM .

There are no other hunters in my woods or brush lots, and I'm surounded by 100's of acres of clover,corn,plowed fields which puts the nearest ones a fair bit away and food right on top of the deer !

I was thinking of this the other day and realized all of my archery harvests have been in the evening.

All of my rifle / shotgun harvest with the exception of 2 have been in the morning.

I still prefer evening.

The evenings are more productive during archery season. The morning seems to be more productive during rifle/shotgun season. I prefer mornings though. I just like the thought of not knowing what may have moved in over the night time hours.

I have allways been a morning hunter but im still a little new to this hunting thing so i think im going to be going on a lot more later hunts this year!!and ps i love this website it gives me great tips and a lot of them are from local hunter

I enjoy the mornings more, watching the woods wake up,and if you are lucky enough to hit one you have daylight as your advantage, but have most of my success in the evening when you have to track with a flashlight.

it's a toss up for me. I have shot deer at both times. I think I see more deer in the evening, but have seen a lot of the bigger older bucks in the am. My am stands are typically farther back in the woods to catch deer going back to bed. Although, i agree with others about being able to track in then morning

I would prefer morning so if I hit one, I can track it easily. My last 6 pt was taken at 7:30 AM. After about 20 minutes of tracking, dragging and hanging, I relaxed for the rest of the day.

I have stands that are good PM stands and other spots that are better for AM sits. Before long, I will start staying out all day.

I have some stands that are better in the am and some in the pm. I am at a toss up I like all times. I hate getting up in the morning but I do for hunting season and I love the quiet before first light, then the woods wake up. Who gets to enjoy that like us? I also like the fact that if I hit a deer in the am it should be an easier recovery. But the evening has been good to me as well and boy some of the night recoveries I have had are the best stories!!

I love to watch to watch the woods wake up.And have seen more deer in the mornings.But then again that is just in those stands.I switched up some stands for the evening hunts this year and hopefully they produce some sightings.I don't really have a preference.I love being in the woods all day.

I prefer to go in the woods in the early AM , meaning carrying a flashlight to get to my stand . Unfortunately I have no clue as to how many deer I am probably kicking on the way in ! I've had more luck in the AM as the woods wakes up but on quite a few occasions I have been late going in ..about 9 am and happened to drop a few that way also . I think its all a gamble anyway !

I sit on both but prefer the evening sit. I have to walk a long hay field to get to my better stand and I also worry about bumping deer on the way in.

I enjoy the morning hunt, but see more deer in the p.m.and taken more deer in the p.m.

Where i hunt the mornings seem to be movement,how ever most of my kills have been mid morn to early afternoon.Most days are allday hunts because thats the way i hunt also most likly time to see movment is when others are on the move.I dont like to go in come out and go back in you never realy know what and when game will show up.

I go out till about 10 in the morning, then go out around 2 and sit till dark.
