I am sure I will spend some money there. I know it is going to be a larger store than the Lodge at Dick's so I have to wonder if DSG will no longer have hunting and shooting merchandise at the Marketplace store.They will be across the parking lot from each other I believe.

Agreed, GM is deff pricy and will close at some point. Seems like there is less and less merchandise and more floor space. I also heard a rumor that dicks was going to eliminate the hunting section.

GM is over priced compared to Dicks and Herb Philipsons. The only thing keeping them going is that they have a better selection. At least the one by me. They will price match, but not everyone thinks to ask that. I do all the time.

So Dicks bought the intellectual rights to Field and Stream in 2012?...and will be selling weapons in the field and stream stores now?.... So they'll keep the Dicks store as a work out equipment /Golf/sports shop?

honestly... most f&S brand products are junk. I'm sure this store will sell more. But aside from like a deer cart, some stands and gun safes. Especially their camo is junk. Great for entry level or someone looking to try out the sport, but not for anyone who spends countless hours in the woods.

The Henrietta store is going through a remodel right now. Their stock is down waiting for the new floor plan.

Field & Stream, a spe­cialty outdoors store owned by Dick’s Sport­ing Goods, will anchor a redesigned southwest wing at Henrietta’s Mar­ketplace Mall that will include new stores and restaurants to be identi­fied by the end of Janu­ary, mall general man­ager Mike Wilmot said Wednesday. The 55,000-square­foot Field & Stream out­let will be constructed behind Dick’s Sporting Goods after the former DSW and Furniture Fair building is torn down, according to a news re­lease from Wilmorite Corp., which owns the mall. The store at Market­place will be the first un­der the Field & Stream name in this area. One also has been proposed for Big Flats in Che­mung County. The former Bon-Ton department store in that section of the mall has already been demol­ished, making room for the new wing. The two outdoors stores will anchor the new section that, in its approach, resembles one already carried out at Eastview Mall and The Mall at Greece Ridge, Wilmot said. At those shopping centers, upscale retail and chain restaurants created a new mall en­trance point, with adja­cent parking and outside entrances for the stores and restaurants. Wilmorite is in the midst of a plan to upgrade its malls, the largest in the Rochester region, with higher-end tenants. The Field & Stream store at Marketplace is meant to appeal to out­doors enthusiasts who want a greater selection of products than is now available at Dick’s. Field & Stream has an emphasis on outdoor equipment, accessories and hunting, fishing and archery products. It has some of the same retail ap­proach as Bass Pro Shops, Orvis, Gander Mountain and Cabela’s. Some of the inventory currently at Dick’s may move to the new store, Wilmot said.

“We’re very excited by this,” Wilmot said. “We think it will bring custom­ers from all over.”

“Field & Stream con­cluded that Henrietta was the ideal location for a su­per- regional destination,” Dennis Wilmot, senior vice president for Wilmo­rite, said in a statement. “The mall’s substantial trade area includes a no­table population of pas­sionate hunters, anglers and campers who will greatly appreciate hav­ing this store in the Fin­ger Lakes region.’’

Dick’s, the nation’s largest outdoors store, in 2012 bought the Field & Stream trademarks in the hunting, fishing, camp­ing, and paddle catego­ries. The Field & Stream name is most closely as­sociated with the 140­year-old magazine, which is still being published.

After buying the name rights, Dick’s opened sev­eral stores under that banner, two in Pennsylva­nia and one in Kentucky.

“Dick’s Sporting Goods originally began as a bait and tackle shop,” said the sporting-goods store’s president and COO Joe Schmidt in a statement last year. “The Field & Stream store will build upon both brands’ heritage to provide an ex­cellent customer experi­ence for outdoor enthusi­asts.”
