Buckmaster7600
I just had what looked like a spike chase 3 does by me. He was grunting with every step and had his tongue hanging out. The chasing I have saw for the last 3 days has been mind boggling. My only guess is the weird weather has forced a 2nd rut? Any one else seeing this? deerpassion
Beautiful morning .... Calm and still , but nothing yet ... Deer are grouped up here in 9h , bumped about 9 or 10 deer yesterday on the way out .... Might be my last sit unless I can pry myself off the pillow tomorrow morning .... Hunted real hard this year so almost glad it's over ... I'm pooped ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My guess would be with the mild weather that we had all season, breeding was limited to only night time activity. Even then it was not getting too cold during those hours, resulting in some does going into estrus and not getting bred because lack of movement due to warm temps. The second rut always happens, but this year there are more does to be bred that were missed the first time around. And now with the cold weather, it is taking place during the day as well. Buckmaster7600
I think you've got a doe there that didn't get bred the first time around come back into heat. 3 different parts of the state, Cooperstown Friday, Gilboa yesterday and Washington county today. I'm willing to bet it isn't the same doe.
PooperScooper
Man do I suck at still hunting. Deer always see me first. But when I'm hanging out in the off season I always manage to end up in their path. If only I could conjure up some of that luck now. Tracks everywhere this morning. turkeyfeathers
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm working retail all day. Going to make this the computer screen saver. I'll keep looking for deer and tap you on the shoulder if I see anything. Lovely view but some 'brown" would make it better.

Skillet
About to start our final drives for the year, in 8G. I love that anticipation before I head into the thicket. The suspense of hoping / waiting to hear a shot is awesome.
Rebel Darling
No morning sightings for me in my corner of 4L. Heard a muzz fire off around 7:45 a.m. Hope they downed the deer. Off to 4H in a short while to sit in a friend's stand and to wait on the doe.

Zem18
Well I passed some smaller deer last weekend due to the property I was a guest at. This morning was a different property and a different story. Glad to get her and to donate to some less fortunate people this holiday.
