Nomad
Wth I walk out a store and all the sudden I see some dark cell like thing bouncing around in front of my eye, go home do,the Google thing , seems like a floater. Now I know two guys who had detached retinas and that's horrible and I have a eye "thing" don't even like putting in drops. So,it bugged me pretty bad till I saw the DR. I see the Dr who did my LASIK , Floater, a good sized one, " looks like a Sea Horse!"...... Wonderful there's a darn Sea Horse in my eye , and its front and center ! At least it's not buck shaped as I might be shooting rounds all over the woods at some floating deer. I hope it breaks up its very annoying . Any of you other old guys deal with this ?

" Wth I told her I could put her on my shoulder and do squats , I guess I'm getting old and grumpy !
Marion
Haha ouch that's rough! But floaters are nothing to worry about. They can happen if you rub your eyes too much, and if I'm not mistaken if they become too much the eye doctor can take care of them fairly easily through a procedure Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Steuben Jerry
I've had a couple of small ones forever on my peripheral vision, but developed a larger one in my direct vision about 2 years ago. Eye Doc in late 2014 said there wasn't much that could be done with them, and that they were barely noticeable to her. it has gotten worse so I'll bring it up at my checkup next month. At least it's in my left eye so it doesn't bug me looking thorough a scope. But it's annoying while driving on a sunny day with a blue sky background.
moog5050
Geeze, my apologies. I thought they are only temporary as that was my experience. Didn't mean to be insensitive.
Nomad
They can break up or dissolve , that's what I'm hopping for . But plenty have them for life I guess . Moog no sweat . After LASIK my eyes were / are great , Dr said they're healthy and vision is still very good, this is just weird though . They took me from 20/200 to 20/20 but can't do,anything for a dancing Sea Horse. Edited April 27, 2016 by Larry302
Elmo
I've had them since I was a little kid. Tiny transparent worm shaped floaties. Haven't seen them in a very long time. Most of the time it's not an issue.
wooly
I got one re-occurring floaty that looks like Tiffany Lakosky. I only see it late at night when I close my eyes and really focus, lol
EspressoBuzz
They are even more noticeable in pools and when diving, sucks but the alternative is being dead.

catskillkid
I've had mine since early teens. Sucks when looking up into a clear blue sky when duck hunting. Can't tell the ducks from the floaters.
nyantler
My wife had the same thing happen last week... floaters progressed into a complete graying out of her sight... turns out it was a torn retina... the floater turned "gray out" was from the blood... she had two laser surgeries to fix the tear, Dr. said it would take some time to get rid of the floaters. Hope you had it checked for a torn retina, because that will progress to a detached retina very quickly... which is very serious.
Nomad
I'm sorry to hear that, they did all kinds of tests. Pressure test, dilated them, photos , said eyes are healthy things look good . Torn retina is my concern , but they down played that at this point. I guess if it breaks free It leaves a spot on retina , that they can then laser . Still "watching " it for a few more days till I feel more comfortable , dispite what's the say, then go back in a month .
Curmudgeon
It seems I have had small ones forever. I counted hawks at a migration site for a couple of decades. A distant soaring raptor and a floater can look very much alike. A guy I knew years back had one break loose after being hit while boxing. It ruined one eye. It was so large, he got virtually nothing from that eye.
Nomad
Just back from a retina specialist, as I got a couple more smaller ones. Retina is good, the large floater is causing some blurriness and light sensitivity which really sucks . Hope it disapates . Retina has one thinner spot, which he said has a 17% chance of tearing at some point ... I said that's a pretty specific number, he replied this is what I do for a living .
Steuben Jerry
Good news on the retina not being an issue! That's got to be a relief! I just had an eye appointment Wednesday, and confirmed that there's nothing (legal or ethical) that they will do for a floater. She did say it's most likely it'll move around (hence "floater") as mine is almost dead center in my vision. At least it's not my scope eye! I may need glasses in the near future though. Made it to 57 w/o them, just readers since late 40's.
pr1nce_
I got my first eye floater last year in my right eye. It started when I was seeing flashes driving home one night. It kind of freaked me out I thought I was having a stroke or something. I went to the eye doctor. Nothing was wrong, no torn retina or anything. Just getting older and now have eye floaters. I have one in my right eye that's large and it's in the middle of my vision. I've gotten used to it for the most part. Sometimes it's annoying. Just recently I was seeing flashes in my left eye and now I've noticed that I have smaller floaters in my left eye. Like others have said just learn to deal with them. After awhile your brain will adjust and they won't be as noticeable. There are some other options for getting rid of the floaters but according to my doctor they come with risks. bugsNbows
I have floaters for many years. NBD. What really chaps me (though) is tinnitus. Now that's troublesome.
