First fawn X 2!

The only thing better than finding my first fawn of the year is finding my first TWO fawns of the year together!

Momma doe drops them in this area of the creekbottom every spring, but she never leaves them together like this. I assume that is so if a predator finds one, the other still has a chance of survival. A rare find for me today! Looking forward to watching them grow throughout the summer and all the photo opportunities to come!

Funny- I actually found the first fawn tracks on Saturday so that's why I was looking.

I keep track of all the dates in my galleries so I can keep up with all the critters and when they'll be around certain areas.

Amazing pics, Ill show my kids when they get home they will love them.  Ive been trying to remember the word for animals that can basically stand up and flee almost immediately after birth, its Precocial. Theres our word of the day LOL.

I appologize for forgetting who it was, but one of the guys here last year hooked me up with an ID of periwinkle for that.

I looked it up, and sure as sheets, he was right.

great shots as usual, Matt...I saw my first fawns this morning myself while turkey hunting, but they were singles...Both were up and following their mothers, so they must be a few days old...
