moog5050
Since you now have to pay $40/mo to post from PB, just testing another method of posting. Test:

Try taking your pics sideways, that way when you post them they wont be posted sideways.
moog5050
I think it only happens with vertical photos and on steep cliffs.

Exactly, it only happens with vertical pictures. That's why I like to take pictures sideways, so I can post them here with no problem. philoshop
When did PB start charging for their services? So much for photo 'sharing' eh.

I thought they only charged for additional storage space when you reached the limit. I still have Photobucket but seldom use it anymore since the ads are a nightmare on my computer and their encoding styles SUCK!Whenever it would tell me I was getting close to my limit I would go through and delete my old pics I didn't have much use for so I could upload the new stuff. Now I just pay $23/year for a pbase page and all the headaches are gone. Much easier to keep pictures organized and categorized this way which makes it a far superior photo hosting site IMO and well worth it.
Lawdwaz
The internet world of chat rooms is heavily damaged by photobuckets changes........they really messed up IMO.
moog5050
Yep, all the prior links are disabled unless you pay $39/mo I believe.
Adkhunter1590
You have to pay for Photobucket now?? I have it and just tried it. Didn't say anything about paying for anything. Am I missing something? I'm not sure how you guys posted pics from PB but I just copy the IMG link under the info of the pic you select and copy paste it into the reply box here. Pics show up on Tapatalk...do they work for everyone else?
Doc
What is the purpose of Photobucket as opposed to simply posting out of your own computer hard-drive? I know there must be some obvious benefit or they wouldn't be in business, but it hasn't occurred to me yet.
nyslowhand
When you want to share photos or vids with someone else, Photobucket comes in handy. Just the fact that you may not want to share photos/vids with all forum members or the entire world, you can copy the site's link of your uploaded "goodies" to a specific individual's PM or email address..

They could be lost forever if something happened to your hard drive.
Nomad
Take a screen shot of the pic , when you post the screen shot it will be right side up . Or just leave as is when viewers tap on it to enlarge it will now be correct as well .
Doc
OK.....Now I get it. But being the site's official cheapskate, I think I'll use my memory sticks for periodic back-up.....lol. But at least I can see what people are using external sites for. It does make sense. Edited July 9, 2017 by Doc

Instead of a picture, it posts a statement that you must upgrade to third party hosting. I have no idea why yours works but its and issue for many PB users. An effort to generate revenue I guess. this is what gets posted when copying and pasting the Img or direct link: Maybe it only applies to people that have posted many PB links in the past. I tried deleting most of my PB library and it still does the same thing. Edited July 10, 2017 by moog5050
airedale
They are claiming advertising no longer can sustain the cost of hosting the millions and millions of free accounts and in order to stay afloat they have to move to a pay for play. They have got me by the short hairs as I have well over 4000 photo on PB and most are posted on my Airedale message board, I have the bare bones plan that just eliminates ads They are going to let me slide for now but as of December 2018 I will have to ante up. Al 1. Why Photobucket? Photobucket is the global destination for linking and 3rd party hosting. In Photobucket’s 14-year history, the Company amassed over 100 million registered users, over 15 billion images stored, 2 million daily uploads and 60 billion photos accessed monthly. 2. What is 3rd Party Hosting? Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, auction listings, blog, etc.* 3. Benefits of Photobucket’s 3rd Party Hosting Easy to Use – Upload a photo from any device and copy the embed code with one click to host a photo with no development or technical knowledge required Competitive, fixed pricing Offers the only unlimited 3rd party hosting plan (Commercial and Personal Use) 3rd Party Hosting Specifics 1. What plans offer 3rd Party Hosting? Only the Plus 500 plan supports 3rd Party Hosting Upgrade to Photobucket’s Plus 500 Subscription by visiting http://photobucket.com/pricing or http://photobucket.com/p500 2. What do I get with the Plus 500 Plan? Unlimited 3rd Party HostingUnlimited Bandwidth Full Resolution Photo Storage (We do not compress your images) High Capacity Storage Dedicated and Priority Customer Support Photobucket.com Promotional Opportunities 3. What users are affected by the changes to our 3rd Party Hostingpolicies? Moving forward, new and legacy free account users will NOT have third party hosting available. If you were a Plus Account subscriber in good standing as of June 1, 2017,you will continue to have all the privileges you have enjoyed including 3rdParty Hosting until December 31, 2018 as long as you maintain yoursubscription. Non Plus 500 Account subscribers that purchased after June 1, 2017 will not have access to 3rd Party Hosting. 4. Are my pictures still safe? Yes! All your photos are still available by logging into your Photobucket Account. Photobucket has only restricted the ability to view your photos on 3rd party sites. 5. Can I download my Photos? Absolutely, at any time. It is an easy four step process: Step 1. Login to your Photobucket Account Step 2. Navigate to your library page Step 3. View a photo and click the download button Step 4. The picture will be saved to your computer
Adkhunter1590
Man that is messed up. I don't use PB very often so maybe your right and it's based off how many things you've shared. When I share pics on here I usually just use the Tapatalk app and it gets the pics from my photo library on my phone.

Not sure if PB is worth $40/year to me. Are there any other reliable photo-sharing sites out there?
