growalot
My Browning 20ga...it's about the only gun I use other than the rim fire 22...
airedale
If I could only have one gun it would be some sort of combination gun that would have to be able to handle all types of small and big game hunting. Might just as well go whole hog seeing the limit is one, something like the Browning over and under pictured would be a good candidate, a set of rifle barrels and a set of shotgun barrels should take care of most hunting. As mentioned previously the Thompson Center Encore with a rifle, shotgun and muzzleloading barrel would do the trick also. TreeGuy
Ole faithful 870. It's already got notches from deer, turkey, squirrels, Yotes, fox, pheasant etc. Change the barrel, change the ammo, hunt anythingSent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Five Seasons
If I could switch barrels it’d be my mossberg 835. Don’t have a slug barrel but I’d get one. Can basically kill everything with it... but don’t tell my wife that!Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
rob-c
Any shot gun with a separate slug barrel, for me it’s my 870 12 gauge . A shot gun really is the right answer, bird shot for everything from squirrels to turkeys and slug barrel for all big game.
Tughill Tamer
I'd have to go with my Mossberg 500 because of it's versatility.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
MPHunter
just gave mine to a son of a friend of mine. Had that shotgun for 30 years. Its taken deer, turkey, small game. It was a bit beat up and got so I never used it cause Ive bought others , but took my first deer with it and my first buck. But moved it along to a new hunter who will get some use out of it. That gun covers it all and ammo is cheap. I just had a slug barrel without rifling and it was a deer killer out to 90 yards. Im glad its out in the field again. Went hunting with him last week and it was good to see it back in use. Told him he could have the gun, the only caveat was that he could not sell it. If he needed to sell it or wanted to to come see me first. Bought mine 26 years ago when I was 17. It has served me well. Culvercreek hunt club
I guess with no restrictions on the original question I would have to opt for a Savage Model 24 in 30-30 over 12 gauge.
Poppy
Let me have my S&W Model 60 Pro. 5 shot .357, use JHPs for protection & big game, shot shell for bunnies and squirrels and an occasional grouse.
The_Real_TCIII
One gun for all game? Remington 11-87 12 ga Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Uncle Nicky
I guess it would be a 12-gauge semi-auto shotgun. But why would anyone want to own just one gun in this day & age?
bushnell
I would have to stick with the gun that I got when I was 12 years old from my Father. Good ole Remington 870 20 guage youth model. Even though I am 6'1 and 200 lbs that youth model fits me like a glove.
BowmanMike
My only gun besides the 22. A wolf muzzleloader. Not great in a gunfight, bit it kills deer nicely.

From squirrels, birds, or any deer walking NY, this gun has it covered. And will never fail to cycle or go bang. Love the 37, been my favorite since before I could drive.
teepee
Of all my big game rifles it would be my Savage model 99 chambered in 300savage. Just love that old light weight gun. My dad bought it in the early 1960's and he never shot a deer with it, He gave it to me about 6 years ago and I've shot 5 deer with it so far.

Hypothetical question
Uncle Nicky
Extended stay as in survival situation or zombie apocalypse? I'd take a 12 gauge semi and a .22 LR semi rifle. But I'd suppose you'd use and become very proficient with the .22 quickly, since it's quiet and you'd probably be able to stock a lot more shells. First-light
My 1187 that is about 35 years old. It has only failed me by my mistakes. Can reach out for a long shot and tuck in at close range. Honestly I have hunted for 40 years now and you become dependent on the old girl. It happened this year about 75 yards out brisket shot on a nice doe. No blood for 15 yards or so then I found her. I have never said this before in public but that gun will be willed to the first kid I mentored in hunting a few years ago. SHHHH don't tell him.
