stubborn1VT
Good to see pics from out on the water! Nice catches by all. I took a day off to work around the house. Planted most of my garden (finally) and tilled up my "pasture plots" for the first time. My buddy called me about a boat for sale, so maybe... Keep posting those pics!

The_Real_TCIII
Would anyone share a flyfishing spot on Sandy Creek near Adams? Or Black creek in Watertown? Is that wade able? I have to kill a few hours there Thursday evening (all fish are going back!)
Uncle Nicky
Almost live (12 hours ago)...Went on an 18-hour tilefishing trip (first time), they live at the edge of the canyons, 90 miles offshore. Interesting day, took me 5 hours to figure out how to fish with the rental rod, once I got the hang of it, it was game on. I have never had tilefish, but I hear it is delicious, will post the pictures of my dinner tonight. Next major trip planned is fishing for flathead catfish in the Susquehanna river (PA) in July, a relatively short ride.

turkeyfeathers
So question for you guys catching walleye. Are these pre spawn , spawning fish ? Guessing it’s still early for post spawn. Bass are on beds but curious as not a huge eye fisherman

Typically the season starts after they spawn.

Guessing it’s still early for post spawn. Bass are on beds but curious as not a huge eye fisherman It's post spawn now. Generally the spawn is right after ice out and the fish are headed back towards the lake by opening day. This year was def different. Due to such a late ice which went well into April and a cold spring the spawn was later. On opening day the spawn was full on and the creeks were loaded. So through season they have been slowing making there way back into the lake. Now they are back in there lake post spawn mode. But still catching them shallow as the water isn't as warm as it would usually be by now. Finding fish gets a bit tougher in the summer as they tend to suspend more on bait. It was some of the best tasting fish I have had.
MrGroundhog
Have any of you heard about the Seneca lake trout derby? This came up in discussion the other day, as the entry numbers are decreasing. I feel like there is never any advertisement, and was curious if anyone from This site even knew about it. It’s always on Memorial Day weekend. Entry fee is 30 dollars with a total payout of over 30,000 total. (10,000 dollars goes to the largest fish.)

MrGroundhog
I believe it use to be well over 2,000 for many years. I’m just curious if any of you guys ever knew about it, or would fish it.
BigVal
To all the haters, the smallest walleye in the pic is 16 on the nose. Have to be 15 in Erie. Jeesh.

stubborn1VT
I had the same question. IMO a 15"-18" walleye is one of the best eating fish that swims. I'd keep one that size over a bigger specimen any day.

The Derby has been around as long as I remember, and I am 68....If participation is decreasing it is because the quality of the fishery has decreased...I have talked to some seasoned Seneca lake trout fisherman the last few years that have fished the entire derby and not caught a single fish...
