Made The Kids Day I think.....

So as mentioned in the 'Goat thread, my wife and I were involved in an accident yesterday in Rochester.  I was making a left turn into a restaurant to go to a memorial luncheon and a 21 year old whacked me in the right rear.  He took off and gave no indication of stopping as he sped away. He pulled into a Lowe's store and I followed.  He exited the car and I was right in front of his, ask WTF man?  He got in my face and told me I was making an illegal left turn and I basically had it coming.  I told my wife to call 911 as we had a problem......

I explained everything to the dispatcher and told them the kid was being a punk and I figured he'd come out and just leave the parking lot.  They said if he did, don't detain him or follow him.  They asked me for a description of his car and himself, I obliged.  They said the Wayne County sheriff should be there momentarily.........

After about ten minutes the kid came out of the store, walking like he had a chip on his shoulder.  He walked up and apologized for the entire thing!  He said hang on and I'll get my information for you.  We exchanged pertinent info and then proceeded to wait for the sheriff.  The kid and I had a little conversation during all the waiting; "I told him you think you're a badass punk and it ain't worth it.  You have your entire life ahead of you, don't blow it over crap like this".  I believe he listened and took it all in.

The sheriff finally got there and before they could say anything, I told him that the young man (yea, time heals) apologized and owned up to everything.  I could have pressed the "leaving the scene of an accident" but didn't.  The kid got a ticket for following to close, that's much better than it could have been.  After the LEO left, I made a point of telling him that too.

We shook hands and parted..........

Sooooo about an hour ago I went out to the car and did a little poking around.  Grabbed some marine fiberglass restorer (works on plastic bumpers too I guess) and a couple towels and lo & behold, the we're 98% damage free.  I called the kid and told him, he said he already called his insurance company.  I said call 'em back and tell them no claim will be coming from us.  He was thrilled!

I didn't want to tell him he's still f'ed though as the insurance company knows and he's got the ticket to deal with..........oh well, at least he'll feel good for a bit. :)

That came out good !

When Samantha was 16 she rear ended a car that was waiting to turn into Eastview Mall, she got the same ticket .Her insurance co. paid the claim, my Nephew got the ticket reduced,to a two, point one instead of three .

Her insurance never went up .

I'll bet he ditched the drugs, cash, stolen jewelry, and murder weapon up in the ceiling tiles of the Lowes restroom before exiting the store with his new and improved attitude.

Should of gave him a piledriver in the parking lot, and buffed your bumper with his forehead, lol :bb:
