My last deer had two of them and found out that it is cutaneous fibrosis.  My processor told me he sees them all of the time

It's not a hole but rather a mole-like projection called a fibroma. Harmless actually. And is kind of a bonus. Look at all the extra free meat! Yum-yum

Looks like a hole to me, the hair above even looks cut. Couldnt be a broadhead from severely quartering away? Snuck between the shoulder and the rib cage? Fell back out, tons of blood, hunter 100% certain he "smoked her", posts on the forum looking for help, Kunox is called, unsuccessful mile long track in the tracking journal post. Mystery solved
