Doewhacker
Wasn't too bad for us in Saratoga County, a few limbs down and some tree's in some place's but not terrible. We never lost power which was nice, others are still with out power. I have seen far worse damage from ice storms.

UpStateRedNeck
Still without power near my house. Out near the family farm things are in pretty rough shape. Schohaire creek/valley got the full brunt of the run-off from all the hills nearby. Lot of people without homes.

Karpteach
I can't believe that lipa brought in 2000 outside crews and over 1/4 of a million LI'ers are still with no power. I had my in-lAws from south Huntington and Little Neck for 3 days cause they had no power. My daughter loved it. Went out scouting for a new spot or two on the north fork and still a lot of of people out there with no power!

Doewhacker
We got ahold of the land owner where we hunt, they got flooded as expected and lost alot of veggies but still has some of the other fields he plants. We are just thankfull he was ok, the water came up to the house about. It sure will change the hunting this year, it flooded last year and changed the deer patterns alot. The only thing holding it up is the water in the basement.Yesterday I went in to grab some of my Grandparents stuff they brought over from Holland back in the day within arms reach of the back door and the whole house shifted!! Notice the waterline on the roof!!Schoharie County looks like a war zone!! Edited September 1, 2011 by river

Doc
Water is an awesome force. I can't even imagine what it must be like to lose a house to a flood. In some cases, it looks like the floods took not only the buildings, but a good chunk of the entire property. Even when insurance helps to pay for rebuilding, looking at some of the damage, it looks like some don't even have a place to rebuild on. Worse than that, most likely a lot of those people may not even have had flood insurance. In some places it's not all that easy to get.
