From what I hear they were caught on the south shore.  I know there are lots of streams that run in but like you said never heard of brookies being caught . 
Buddy fishing with me got a nice brown one day when we were out, but this is certainly different.  

You never know where they toss the spent breeders, could be those. I’ve caught some monster brookies in Harwood Lake

Well that’s not nice...I rarely touch the trout I catch- too much slime removed when handle it

New rod ( pole ) and new reel going in play soon. Bought separately as put together combos meh. My old combo has caught who knows how many fish in 25+ years. Steelhead, Lakers , northern , walleye, sheephead, smallies , LM , long list and used a lot n hard. Time for a new set up.

Nice, solid set up Turkeyfeathers. What are the length and action on the rod. I have a couple species specific set ups that get used a little. My other two set ups are just for my all around, most of the time fishing like it sounds like you are doing.

Buddy lost one we think was a steelie.  Quick hook , line peel and gone.

Ran up to the Ramapo today in 80 degree temps.

Light caddies hatch sporadic rises. Got three “biz baits” 2 on top and one on a bead head zug bug dropper.

Buddy got a nicer fish on an Ausable Wulff in some pocket water

The difference between native and stocked fish is night and day!

First night out on chataqua yesterday. Fished from 9pm to midnight. Trolling 1.2-1.5mph in 8'-12' of water. My dad got one small walleye right away. I got my first of the year at about 10pm, 22". Then at 1040 i got the next one at 24". Brother lost one. Good night, first time running the boat with the kicker motor, everything worked well. Hoping for good weather for next weekend.
