turkeyfeathers
Don’t expect lots of gobbling or early fly downs. My and brothers experience is they don’t talk a lot and may limb hang longer than usual. But catch a bird on the right day and prove me wrong please. Today was approaching full moon and zero gobbles. Just something we’ve experienced.

Pygmy
My experience has been similar, TF....Good that the FM is falling on pretty crappy weather...Things will improve in a week or so... Of course YMMV....One thing for sure..You ain't gonna kill one from the couch.. Now I am fortunate because I can be hunting five minutes from my driveway..If I had to drive an hour or more, I'd be a lot less willing to get up early and go out until the weather improves and the moon fades a bit..
Buckmaster7600
Completely agree jay, I actually had this conversation today with a new hunter I’ve been helping this year. I’ve killed most of my full moon birds between 10-12.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ApexerER
Interesting. Went out with my buddy and his kids this morning and didn't hear a single gooble.
mowin
Same experience here. Full moon = no or little gobbling. I've seen toms stay on roost for a hr or so after normal fly down.

LET EM GROW
The main reason why I didnt call in today. Wife said to call in, hunt then hang home with her and the kids.. On a better day that is the game plan.. Use the vaca sparingly but wisely. lol. I like to use them on the cloudy calm days. Buckmaster7600
How about snow? How does snow effect turkey behavior?I tracked and killed a Tom in 2004 in the Catskills on May 2nd in 7” of fresh snow. Maybe my favorite turkey hunt ever. Followed that bird for 3 hrs before he finally went to a spot where I could put the sneak on him.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

crappyice
Anything more exciting than spot & stalk / tracking an animal? I'll wait.Yup...when they are spot and stalking YOU! Coyotes following you out dragging a deer at night with a dead flashlight, bear possibly snuggled up behind that bush while you walking in, NY mountain lion creeping up on your unsuspecting self!Good times!!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Although my last 3 deer came from the ground with a bow while walking ,i don't prefer to hunt that way , a good hunter should be able to read a situation and set up accordingly ,something that i'm still working on every season . A great hunter can read a situation and kill a mature deer quickly ,not spend hours and hours sitting in the woods waiting for an opportunity , i am neither good or great but i aspire to be someday. Turkey are not big game but they manage to give even great hunters a fit so that gives them some serious street cred. But for just about all of the other NA 29, it's spot & stalk unless it's a baited bear hunt.

BizCT
@Jeremy K you would love the book "BareBow" by Dennis Dunn. I don't own the book, but read through some of it once in Canada. It's literally like a 10lb book about Dennis Dunn's adventures to kill all NA 29 animals with a bare bow. Some species he gets within a day or two, while others took him 30+ days. If I remember right, it took him close to 40 years to complete the NA 29 with a bare bow.
