G-Man
Turkey hunting is a 1/2 hr before sunrise and after sunset in fall, just wondering if i can see a beard on a bird a 1/2 hr before in the spring why is the deer season sunrise/sunset instead of a half hr before or after? Antlers are a lot easier to see than a 4 in beard on a jake! Maybe a change in the hunting times is in order? How or why was the decision made for sunrise/ sunset anyway? Then the whole 5 min before or after is moot. seems like an almost impossible law to enforce anyway... Although i dont think i've ever hear a shot more than a half hr before im sur eit happens. I'd like to set up a vote to see how many would support a 1/2 hr before and after vs keeping it the way it is but i'm not that computer savy.. steve863
I would vote to keep it as is just as a safety factor for those that would shoot before the legal 1/2 before and after just like they do with the current law. I have never felt that it's a federal offense to shoot a few minutes before or after legal time, and I highly doubt that there are too many hunters out there who will load their guns only after legal time and unload the exact second legal time is over no matter how much they swear they would never shoot after legal hours. I do understand that one is subject to penalties if they are caught, but other than on public land the odds of getting caught are virtually ZERO in most places. Anyway my vote is to keep it as is, just as an added safety factor.
Elmo
I think it's like the speed limit. They post 65 knowing you're going to go 70. They just didn't want you going 75.

Just watch out for those cameras!!! Soon they will be in the woods!!!! lol I agree with Steve, what he said.
Elmo
And yes, I do agree. Should be kept as is. Safety is worth much more than a turkey or deer.
screamon demon
It's also darker in the fall than in the spring due to where the sun is in the sky. Plus a single round fired out of your 30.06 is going travel a lot further than your turkey load. I agree on a morning with a full moon and snow on the ground shooting light comes very early. We can't leave "safe shooting light" open to interpretation.
SteveNY
I think its fine how it is.
Chrishunter
Im ok with the times the way they are. When it comes to bowhunting, even if you see a deer that you want to shoot in very low lighting conditions, once you draw back and look through your peep sight, your just gonna see darkness anyway. Culvercreek hunt club
Elmo hit it on the head with his speed limit analogy. I vote leave it as is.
WNYBuckHunter
Wouldnt matter to me one way or the other. Im fine with how it is now.
First-light
actually I wouldn't mind 11-3. This time lets tell the deer about it so we're all on the same page. We get to sleep in they get to eat in,everyone comes out to play for 4 hrs and be happy!

bubba
I am in favor of 24 hours a day during season. and daylight hours after season.
Localqdm
I'm all for the change during BOW. Gun is too scary now, but then again people shoot all hours around me law or no law. This was hard coming back from Indiana like a lot of states that allow 30 min either side. I don't know how many times they seem to come in rt at sunset and you're always gnawing inside about what minute is it. Larry
Just to let you know that turkey is a 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset not a 1/2 hour after sunset
