  2. I had a bloody leg poke out of a contractor bag one time when the garbage men went to toss it into the truck. These two guys (black) freaked out!! They called the Amherst Police woh called the Town Highway Dept. The garbage guys thought I whacked my wife up................!!! The town took it all and told me if the EVER gave me a hard time again, give them a call and they would take care of it. Pretty cool on their part, IMO. Funny stuff I guess when the guys first saw the bone. They were screaming!!

  3. City Board of Health approved Bloombergs proposal to ban all sugary drink above 16 ounces from being served in restaurants and concession stands. What's shocking was the vote was passed 8 to 0 with only 1 vote abstaining. A little bit more of our freedom just got strippped away.

  4. Wooh... the wind will get us now lol...so not many trees and at least 2 cutters...thinking the middle to end of next week...That should be just right....enough buck disturbance to move them on us and seeing we surround the property front back and one side...I'm happy....lots of new tops to lay in when things settle so they will be in that section instead of the leased property on the other side of us where the cut corn is and this logged property has just one older hunter on it...relaxed deer...pretty good timing on all this...... this year should be interesting fall

  7. I mean for god's sake, it's deer hunting, it's supposed to be fun, not a competition on who get's the biggest deer......the deer camp's of old are going by the wayside and we're seeing more and more solo hunter's consumed by the quest to harvest the biggest deer....growing big deer with food plot's and sitting over them for deer is not what I enjoy, to me this turned it into more of a business than something we do for pleasure.

  12. Actually I can say whatever I want to .... lol. Especially since that is exactly what they did. if you want to play word games, do it with somebody else. And as far as my opinions about your weak "reasons", I will point out that it is my opinion and I am entitled to that and it is every bit as valid as yours.

  14. If you do not change your shooting position(anchor ,arm position, etc) ,ime the arrows hit pretty dam close to where you are aiming. It is actually pretty hard to get high enough and far enough away for there to be much difference in trajectory. Bend at the waist. Do not drop your arm or shoulder. Practice from an elevated position to see for your self. I know some people have a difficult time maintaining proper form , and this will change how you shoot.

  15. Elmo, I know it's tough to shoot where you live, but shooting for "hours on end" is probably not helping you at all. In a hunting situation, your 1st shot is usually your only shot, and it usually comes when your body & muscles have been at rest for awhile. Shooting tons of arrows at once is a tough way to gauge your perforrmance and the performance of your equipment. After a few shots, your muscles start to tire, and you are not shooting as naturally as you would be in a hunting situation. I used to shoot for hours, but I found that the more I shot, the worse I got, the worse I got, the more frustrated I got, & I would deteriorate even more. Shoot all you want to initially dial your bow in, but once you know it is shooting well, I would take only several shots at a time & focus on dialing yourself in. Barring some equipment malfunction or sudden gust of wind, any variation in accuracy is due to you. Sometimes I go to pieces if I had a crap day @ work, or I forgot my crazy pills, or when my girlfriend reminds me that she still wears the pants. After my initial sight in session every year, and testing every arrow, I go down to one practice arrow. I like using only one because I avoid damaging my arrows with following shots, and it forces me to take a break as I walk downrange to remove my arrow from the block. Most mornings, I take one shot. I try to envision that it's a real deer standing in front of me, and it's a pass or fail kind of thing. If I blow it, I'll try once or twice more, and usually find that it was just me pulling the shot. Usually though, the one shot thing works for me, because I really feel like I need to make it count. Just an idea, though. Whatever works for you is cool.

  16. I hunt a 2,500 acre or so farm. I have a small chunk of it to myself, hard woods, brush, thick field with crops all around it.This year corn, beans and clover. Farm across road is cutting corn. called my wifes cousin and he said they were a few weeks away from cutting corn by me !! Nice come over here and eat the corn, pay no attention to the man in the tree...

  17. How did we get from shooting the wrong deer is an accident or mistake to the DEC is forcing something on hunters that can't count to 5...I think you're making the 3 on a side rule way more complicated than it really is.. counting 5 points (the benchmark for the biggest deer you can't shoot) is not that difficult ... and the law wasn't made to pick out a buck that satisfies you.. it was made to protect most yearling bucks. If we're not protecting yearling bucks then I guess just identifying it as a buck would be enough... if you don't like the 3 on a side rule for yearling buck protection... then offer up another standard to achieve the goal. Otherwise that is the system.. like it or not. Without the restriction (which is minimal at best) you have no yearling buck protection... using the short comings of hunters isn't a good argument, in my opinion, against an AR to protect young bucks... especially something as simple as counting 3 points on a side... I understand that you don't agree... but I just don't see the complexity and, you don't have to be jacked up on AR's to follow the law

  20. So here it is a youth can hunt at 14 and 15 in nice weather, gets a nice buck or doe , fawn whatever. Turns 16 an now faces reg season rules... thinks back on how great hunting in warm weather was but thats bow season now, so he/ she decides they would rather learn to bow hunt than gun... A new bow hunter is born!!! this will happen beyond a doubt. Quit whining about safety, sm game hunters shooting at squirrels in trees with bird shot and .22's is more dangerous than a hunter shooting at game on the ground and we as bow hunter have put up with that for years!!! let alone grouse/duck hunters raining pellets down on me onnthe edge of a swamp. This is a start, ...yes it may need tweeking, (say close bow for the weekend of youth hunt to placate the "sky is falling crowd" also gets around that pesky legislation that forbids gun in the wood during bow...which would also eliminate all small game, duck and goose hunting as written i believe ... .For those of you that have youngsters young enough to partcipate good luck i say!! teach them well!! for those that want to whine and complain ...deal with it its happening...

  21. very well put i agree 100% why are we having a youth hunt for these 14 and 15 year old any ways when these same kids will be out gun hunting with us in november why cant they wait. they are going to get such a false sense of hunting when they go into the woods on columbus weekend and they are hunting deer that are just in their normal routine then in november when they are hunting and the deer are running scared for their lives. i also have a young son he wont be old enough to hunt for many more years but i hope he gets to learn the same way i did go out with the older guys feel like and adult and learn how to hunt deer with the bow during bow season and the gun during gun season.

  22. That's the way I do them, except I don't dick around half a day like that goober in the fur hat... I did six of them this morning in about half an hour and that included disjointing them and cleaning the blood/hair from them. I disjoint them into 4 legs and the back and discard the ribcage, which has little meat on it anyway.

  23. The only time I use a bottle is when I am in a blind . I sure won't pee on the ground inside the blind and I don't want to step outside and get busted . I dump it a few feet from the blind . I plastic coffee container works great . A Maxwell container works best ......"good to the last drop" !

  24. Actually, leaving it for other critters is a beneficial way of recycling the remnants. Why not? I do understand the idea of not plopping it in front of non-hunters, but there are a lot of places away from hiking trails and such where nobody will have to trip over it. When you think about it, I really don't go out of my way to hide the gut-pile. Within a day or two, it will disappear, and a few animals will head into winter with just a little more reserve in their tank.

  25. I'll just leave those "quality" deer for you experienced, skilled hunters who give a s**t about antlers, and continue to try to shoot a doe or two for my freezer.

  28. Well Doc, in alot of suburban areas, there is a big problem with deer numbers, and limited huntable areas under current laws. Would you rather see them use paid sharp shooters on your tax dime, or allow hunters to take some deer out of those areas? Everytime i see stories about the bait and shoot programs, i see hunters complaining that they dont have the opportunity to hunt the deer. Well, the DEC is trying to give that opportunity in some of those areas. Its quite apparent that the current herd control is not working for those places, and unless you guys want to see some of these wacky deer birth control ideas come to fruition, you should stop and think about what you arent supporting. Again, seems to be alot of " thats not my way of hunting so i am against it" type attitude being displayed here.
