We're gonna get the shipping figured out tomorrow. The bow doesn't do anyone any good just sitting on my shelf . It's actually the first brand new thing I ever bought when I got a job and started working . Had it on lay away at Johnsons country store for 3 months. It would be really cool if Rob gets a deer with it too.13 points

Grampy was so generous in sending my son, who is addicted to bass fishing, a HUGE assortment of his best bass lures/rigs. It was a complete surprise for my son and he was almost speechless. What a great gift from a great guy/fisherman. I hear my son now commenting on all the great tackle. Thanks so much Dave. I have never seen my son more excited. I know you will be blessed in kind. You were way too generous! He is planning to go out and put that tackle to use tonight It's so great to see a man like Grampy with such a big heart share his passion with my son. And tips from a pro like you is over the top. You made a big impression on Joel (and me)!9 points

PM'd Jeremy, I will take the bow, and then pass it on to someone else who might want or need it down the road. It is much appreciated.8 points

By chance my wife and I caught a couple neat sunsets this weekend. We had a pizza and a couple cold ones in Wilson at the Woodcock Brewery Friday night then a small get together at a friends place on Lake Erie at Sturgeon Point last night. Too much GREAT food and drink forced an unwanted bike ride this morning on the Clarence bike path. Sorry no pics of that, I looked like a circus act................. Wilson Pier......... I grabbed a growler from Woodcock Brothers in Wilson NY Friday night to take to Saturday's shindig.......It was filled with their Amber Ale. I could have pounded it myself no sweat but I let the host have a couple small glasses.4 points

Just my opinion and don't take offense with me rob. But humbly and graciously take Jeremy's very generous offer and just go hunt! Someday you will have the chance to pay it forward and I know you will and have in the past! He never would have extended the offer if he didn't want you to do otherwise. Just hunters helping hunters. That's why this forum is so awesome! Jeremy K, I'd give you my daily allotment of "likes"if I could, for making such a generous offer to another hunter you don't even know. Way to go man!4 points

I've got my ears to the ground and many other people on the lookout for land in your area to hunt Rob. If I hear of anything for at least some doe hunting I'll let ya know. If they were giving out DMPs for 4H like they do for 4J I would say come up to my place and stick a doe for some meat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

First arrow since November. Very unusual for me but life has been busy. Took what I thought to be 20 yards and only a hair high. I will take it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Glad you took it rob! You'll defiantly see the pleasure in getting out when the weather is a little more forgiving. It shows that Jeremy is a great guy as well! He gained a lot of respect from quite a few members today.3 points

I'm with Grampy! Ata boy for Jeremy! Take him up on it and go hunting! I would like to think of this group as pretty tight knit group. His offer is certainly not a welfare type freebie he wants to give something that he doesn't need to someone he knows will use it and appreciate it. A couple years from now when you have your stuff together you can pass it on again to get someone in the woods. When you get it and get shooting let me know if you need anything I have boxes full of old sights and rests and what not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

BBQ pork chops, grilled zucchini with olive oil, garlic salt, and some mesquite seasoning, fresh cucumbers in Italian dressing, and garlic noodles. Neighbor brought home some BBQ sauce from Wisconsin. Very good stuff.3 points

My wife has this tool that shreds it in noodle threads and then she cooks it in a pan with pasta sauce and makes spaghetti out of it with the zucchini substituting the pasta. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Not to mention that learning when and how to draw on a deer takes experience but I guess you need to be proficient before you get there.2 points

Even though you can become decent in a short time, the real test is when you are ready to shoot a live deer. The more you ingrain your form, the less likely you will blow it if a B&C comes by. It should be second nature. Imo2 points

That's a loaded question because good is a broad term. With a someone that knows what they are doing and some practice probably 100shots. But on the same note professional sports coaches say it takes 10k times of repetition to become muscle memory. 30yds is a lot big different than 20! If I was starting shooting today and wanted to hunt this season I would put the cap on around 20yds. Many of the guys that know way more about archery than me say shoot out to a distance where you can put 10 shots in a pie plate not all shot at once and take away 1/3 of the distance and that should be your max hunting range. That photo doesn't adequately show the huge amount of lures, worms and hooks you sent. It was very very generous of you Dave.2 points

I commend you on resisting the temptation of a new bow Rob when the money was needed elsewhere, I would prably had given in and bought the bow, and a Big Thumbs Up to Jeremy for helping out a fellow forum member like that! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk2 points

Well one great summer projected finished. Time spent building this with my Dad and Brother is one of the many reasons I love this sport. Can't wait for someone to break the ice in this bad boy!!!2 points

No offense taken. I meant no offense to Jeremy. The offer is very generous and it's appreciated. The reason I declined was because I am not in a situation where I can't hunt this year. There are others who might want or need a bow more then I do. I might come off as a dick at times, but I actually do think about other people before myself a lot. I could buy the Winchester if I wanted to, I just had to put things in a priority. So accepting a bow for free knowing I could have spent the money for a bow doesn't feel right to me. It's not pride, thinking I am better then anyone else, or thinking I am too good for things, it's actually the exact opposite. It's me thinking maybe someone else who really needs it would benefit more then me. I'll shoot Jeremy a PM.2 points

Spoken like someone who lives in the tropics and can use a 'clothes line' all year. LOL. J/K Had to go with priorities. On a budget here. Plus, with the wait, I should be able to get a new bow and the big sister to my M&P 22LR ( either .223 or .308 ) next year.2 points

Looks a little low Larry - at least a 1/4". Are you peaking, dropping your bow arm. Uggh, you have soo much practice to do before the season. Maybe you paced off 26yds or were wearing larger flip flops?2 points

I have never tried butterflies, but what the heck .... great idea TF, hard to miss a monarch flying in the wind - just be sure it is very windy The milkweed really works well even for subtle current like thermals1 point

I do the same as long as I have a tag for it. I keep my finger behind the trigger though for that reason. it's only to practice when to draw without getting busted. big part of bowhunting.1 point

I have not read all the subsequent posts as most of it would be conjecture. I also have a tracking license. So here it is: It's the difference between hunting and tracking. In the first instance you are hunting and cannot be accompanied by a dog. After a shot and no recovery, our tracking licenses allow us to use our dog to track the wounded animal according to our Tracking License criteria. The guide you quoted is the Hunting guide and those regulations apply to Hunting. When you are tracking your wounded animal, our tracking regulations apply. So NO you cannot have your dog with you while hunting but can go back to camp and get him to perform tracking according to your tracking license.1 point

So here is the process so far of building dad the best hunting shack for those cold /wet/windy/snowy days. Been talking about this for years and have finally broke the ice. Still have finishing touches left but excited to have a place for dad and the grandkids.1 point
