  1. It is obvious to me, the board set up the way he wants it, I have no problem with the way this board is set up other than needing some strong moderation. If members have such a big problem dealing with that hit the road, there are other choices to make you happy, quit coming here to stir the pot, the board is what it is. Al

  3. Amazing how fast the Turkey numbers grow in our woods for winter. After combining around 800 acres of corn and beans their numbers grow into the 100’s. The bigger the numbers grow the more they strut around each other in the late season.

What can you say, sad indeed but I can not blame them for fleeing a state that not only sucks with their taxes on business, but a Democrat government basically against everything you manufacture and behind the scenes probably cheering. 7. Sitting in a literal trash heap. Brushy island where they cross a lot over the years. Took a few from here and never remember to bring in the old chairs I sit on, or unfortunately one of my ground blinds I forgot and left out. The blind is ripped all up and the little poles hanging loose. So I have it rigged up with twine to saplings and the top held up with strands of electrical tape. Haha. What a pro!

  9. This! Or, on second thought, why can't people just police themselves? Before posting; why can't people ask themselves if what they are going to say is meant to be something helpful, positive, even simply sharing, or meant to be an A-hole to someone else. I for one don't care what anyone chooses to post, how often, why they post what they do, or why they come to this site. If it is something that is not all that interesting to me I just scroll by and find the stuff I do enjoy, from those I know I like to read what they post. To the best of my memory I have never been intentionally nasty to anyone here or previously here. But, I have been on the receiving end of some pretty offensive stuff in the past, amazingly for absolutely no reason other than expressing my thoughts and sense of patriotism to our country while others were all jumping on the, "I'm a Ukrainian bandwagon" and banging the drums for war, and from the self proclaimed medical experts and Trump haters throughout the 3 year Covid nightmare. Oh..so how did these situations all play out in the end? For the most part I really enjoy this site and the people who post here now. From past experiences reading peoples posts, I know those I would invite to hunt with me in a heartbeat and those I would never turn my back on in the woods. It should be pretty simple really. Move on, don't be nasty and disrespectful to other people, scroll past what you don't like or are not interested in rather than find fault, pick and choose who you enjoy reading from and responding too and go for it, and if anyone is so bent out of shape about this or any other site, the simple fix is to start your own.

  11. I sure wish this site would take it's policy of "NO PERSONAL ATTACKS" seriously. It would go a long way to preventing the discord and bickering that we sometimes see get out of control on here, the way it is getting out of control in this thread right now. If the people posting can't be civil, remove their posts.

  12. That is a good tip, I have one of those pull through carbide sharpeners mounted on my kitchen island for kitchen knives, I ran the Outdoor Edge knife through it a couple of times and she was razor sharp, quick and easy. Al

  13. The only thing negative about this site is YOU, Mayor Mc'Mullet. Always all just about YOU, isn't it? YOU add absolutely nothing of value here. Never have, in all the years I've been here. Just bragging and boasting. About all the things YOU make up. Pretty sad really. I truly pity YOU. I won't indulge YOU with anymore replies. It's the only thing that floats your boat, to make YOU feel better. Being the keyboard warrior and poser YOU are. I'm done responding to your nothingness. YOU have nothing, do nothing, are nothing. Have a nice life. Hope it gets better for ya. Flame on Mayor. Flame on. No one's listening.

  16. The basic pull thru sharpener works great on those blades also, I can usually get 2-3 deer processed from each blade being resharpened before it reaches a point of being too thick where a new bevel angle is needed.

  17. Will be after them every second available until the bell rings. Still have two of the three hit listers alive so will go all out to grab another. Those that say they don’t like “Hit Listers” either don’t have the gumption to go find a couple of the top of the class or have what it takes to take the best on one on one and let the chips fall where they will. Have no need to lower the standards and take a lesser buck. Have doe tags for that. Good luck to all headed to the end.

  18. Got my second ever b-day buck in 40+ yrs of hunting yesterday. Not the biggest buck in the woods, but I'm very happy with him. Lot's of yrs, I was already tagged out and couldn't shoot a buck on my birthday. Ya, I know crappy selfie, lol.

  19. Selling my Bushnell Nitro 3-12x44. I will let it go with the Redfield dovetail 30MM rings. Scope comes with (Covers and sunshade) Very clear scope. The only reason I am selling it is. If it sells I am going to purchase a lighter scope for an upcoming mountain hunt. Scope does not have any marks on it. Needs a good wipe down from last nights hunt. $300 TYD Purchases it for $399 last year plus $50 for the rings

  23. A lot of people love the Jet sled. Personally I can't see something that's going to apply friction on the ground being a better alternative to something with wheels. I'll take a wheeled cart any day of the week. Better yet a wheeled cart with an e-bike even better. [emoji23] Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

  26. Just proves the Democrats have no regard for The Constitution, individual rights or due process. They want the power to control everything. You think they won't be selectively enforcing who goes to one of these "Quarantine Camps"? It will become a way to neutralize political opposition. China sends people to these camps, and others refer to those camp folks as people who were "disappeared". As far as elections go, I think Democrats have learned how to steal elections and get away with it. Therefore, we are not going to be able to vote our way out of this mess. The left is provoking a fight it seems to want. Perhaps they see it as a way to eliminate their political opposition and retain power for life. This is what you can expect when an election turns into a political coup, as it did in 2020.

  27. Ahhh, Thanks old man. Once again if you ever feel like you can match any of my achievements you feel free to post up. Talk about all these years. Your jealousy is one of the biggest things that keeps you connected to me. You ever need a few tips I might be able to find a little time to get a few to ya. Even you are never to old to learn some new tricks.

  30. I have never given the other site much thought. A couple of the guys on there were giving me grief (I believe due to the fact that I don’t live in NYS. They seemed to believe that should disqualify me from any input here). I thought they could just KMA.

  32. And yet again, you proved my point. Attempting to turning your negativity into mine. I didn't " move" to another site. I joined another site, but I'm still here, so it fulfilled your requirements of those that haven't left, because, here I am. I'll continue to contribute to both sites. Wether you agree with me or not, or like it or not.

  33. See this is where you’re wrong. There is nothing to disagree about. What I speak is 100% provable fact. If the facts make you feel negativity then that once again shows that it’s all coming from you. And if you were really able to comprehend the statement made you would read that it said… between those that stayed here and did not need to move to any other sites? Maybe it’s an age thing.

  34. And you always have to be negative, why? When going back through this site, I'm not looking for disagreements. I'm looking for information. But since you asked about the last disagreement between any of the members still here, you only need to read this post between you and I. See didn't take to long. Not a coincidence, that most negative stuff posted on this forum is from you.

  36. I like and use both sites. This one seemed just a bit anti-Christian at one time, which rubbed me a little bit the wrong way. They seem to be have softened up on that now, which is good. The other site was and still is very open to “Jesus talk”. I’m not a real good hunter or fisherman myself, so I always do my best to give the credit for my hunting or fishing successes, to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If anyone has a problem with that, I don’t give a damn. I’ll never “block” anyone, because everyone on both sites, has some good stuff to offer. Sometimes it’s tough to see that clearly at first, like when the NYBH members tried to squash anything crossbow related. Now, we have the early antlerless gun season, in my home WMU. Never has it been easier to secure my families meat supply. Without NYBH, and their crossbow opposition, that never would have happened. So you see, in the end it’s all good.

  38. NY black bears have been steadily increasing their range in recent years. Many areas not used to seeing bears, are now seeing them. A good thing for sportsmen and hunters.

  39. Having been on more than my share of bloodtrails, I can tell you no two are ever the same. Also, even under perfect conditions, things can and do happen. Not recovering a deer is the worst part of deer hunting. It happens to most all of us at one point or another. Hope the deer the OP shot makes it. About a 50\50 chance they survive a non vital, or non gut hit.

  40. For me it has nothing to do with the other site per-se, it is some the members that left here that to be honest I have no use for and do not want to associate with period. All the back biting, sniping cheap shot artists and trouble making political trolls are gone and I for one am glad of it. I totally agree with Four Seasons, this site has never been better and I enjoy and like the members that stayed. Numbers do not mean a thing to me, it is all about content and I like this site's content without all the bull!! Al

  41. The folks that stayed here are the folks that live their lives in real time and don’t feel the need to post their daily lives on a website. They also don’t feel the need to bash others. We also don’t miss the pack mentality of those that once lived on this site and now live elsewhere. The same ones that are pretty much the only ones that now post elsewhere. You say you like to read back? Read back and show me the last disagreement between any of the members that didn’t leave here? I will wait. It’s all good. Many said this site would disappear also but yet here we are.

  43. I'm on both. Why not? I like both, but too be honest, even though FS says this sight is the best it's ever been, I have to disagree. Can't say this forum is flourishing with content and new members. I often go back to read through old threads on this site. So much info and great advice for past yrs.

  44. I joined this site in 2010 and have enjoyed it ever since. I have both received and given many likes to posts on the forums and I particularly like that the focus is on New York State hunting. I contemplated joining the other site but chose to remain loyal to this one as it has never done me wrong and I have actually made some new friends here. I have browsed the other site and found that many of the members there are former members of this site whose posts I enjoyed and I miss them. I wish they would return here. Regardless I will stay here and I continue to enjoy reading the posts and posting some of my own.

  45. It took a while, but I finally put my tag on a buck this year. My buddy bagged a nice 5 point on the opener, but I saw nothing but a squirrel. I did spend a few hours in the morning on the opener helping him with his deer, when I should've been in my stand, but I don't know if I missed anything when I wasn't there. Anyway, the day after Thanksgiving I went to my friend's nearby property to hunt. He was out of town for Thanksgiving and asked if I would hunt his 100 acres and make sure no one else was hunting there. I had exclusive hunting privileges Weds through Friday. I drove my truck into a back field and parked to wait for the sun to rise. I took a seat at one end of the field where I could see the whole field, as well as the wood line around it. Soon after legal shooting time, I saw a doe at the far end of the field just inside the brush of the woods bordering the field. It was 200 yards away. Scanning the woods behind her, I spotted this nice 8-point buck. The brush was obscuring his body, and I could only see his head and neck. The doe spotted me and blew a warning. She did it again a few seconds later. When she ran into the woods the buck was still there looking at her. I knew he was going to run, so I set my crosshairs on his neck and steadied my aim. The Kimber 84M in 7mm08 roared and the buck staggered, as he tried to run away. I lost sight of him after that. I drove the truck over to where he stood and found him not far from where he was when I shot. I was a 200 yard off hand neck shot, and the longest shot I've taken on a buck in the Catskills. I had to call my friend Chuck to help me lift it onto the tailgate of my pickup, as it was too heavy for me to do it alone. The buck weighed 140 lbs field dressed and has a nice symmetrical 8-point rack. It also has two little bumps where it was growing 2 more points that would have made it a 10-pointer, but they're too small to count. I took some time to fill my tag, but it was worth the wait.

  47. This weekend was pretty slow. Saw a few Doe and 1 nice 6 pt too small for me to shoot. So few weeks a go my brother is bow hunting and a grey house cat comes along with a Doe in tow. The Doe followed the cat. I brushed it off but on Saturday morning here comes the grey house cat with the 6pt following it. Weirdest thing! My neighbor shot a Coywolf Sunday. Weighed 60 lbs. Big dog!!!! The guy holding it is over 6'.
