  1. I'm sitting at my kitchen table right now debating on going out or not. 35 min ride and if the forecast is correct the rain will move in an hour before sunset. With no venison in the freezer I think I just convinced myself to go out.

  3. For quick and dirty you be surprised how well a 6 x 9 tarp works. I always carry one in my pack and wrap deer in it if only to keep out dirt and leaves.

  4. Without a doubt. Not only killing this state but the country as a whole. There has never been a more dangerous time across the country then now. People just hate each other and that comes from the struggle every person now has to just keep on keeping on. Sad!!!

  5. What a tragic story to see what NY has become over the course of my lifetime. Upstate New York citizens and their way of life is at the absolute mercy of Down State philosophy and policy. Driving Remington out of NY will celebrated with dancing in the streets by those who wish to destroy the right for citizens to keep and own firearms, without any concern for the lives of those who will be negatively impacted by it's closing. When I was just a young guy, I was a State certified welder and pipe fitter. I worked on many of the boilers and HVAC systems in factories including Pettibone, Rome Cable, Revere Copper and Brass, and others, many that eventually were left vacant shells when they were eventually closed and moved away. I even worked on the Remington boilers spending days with an air needle scaler removing rust getting things ready with our crew for an insurance inspection. The impact of these closings over the past several decades is profound on these small communities and it's people, with their spirits left as broken as the factory windows over time. I know this both from personal and professional experience.

  6. Sitting in a literal trash heap. Brushy island where they cross a lot over the years. Took a few from here and never remember to bring in the old chairs I sit on, or unfortunately one of my ground blinds I forgot and left out. The blind is ripped all up and the little poles hanging loose. So I have it rigged up with twine to saplings and the top held up with strands of electrical tape. Haha. What a pro!

  8. Without the burden of NY tax's, maybe Remington will have the money to make decent firearms again. It's sad, but the writing was on the wall decades ago. SJC

  9. I hope those people who are losing their jobs realize Hochul is the reason and not Remington. the company would never be able to survive in NY and their jobs would be gone soon anyway.

  10. I too came in when the rain started again. This gives my great comfort that I am now thinking like a deer, and it only took until my 48th deer season to accomplish. lol

  11. What can you say, sad indeed but I can not blame them for fleeing a state that not only sucks with their taxes on business, but a Democrat government basically against everything you manufacture and behind the scenes probably cheering. At one time NY was the country's top state for firearms manufacturing. 12. Just proves the Democrats have no regard for The Constitution, individual rights or due process. They want the power to control everything. You think they won't be selectively enforcing who goes to one of these "Quarantine Camps"? It will become a way to neutralize political opposition. China sends people to these camps, and others refer to those camp folks as people who were "disappeared". As far as elections go, I think Democrats have learned how to steal elections and get away with it. Therefore, we are not going to be able to vote our way out of this mess. The left is provoking a fight it seems to want. Perhaps they see it as a way to eliminate their political opposition and retain power for life. This is what you can expect when an election turns into a political coup, as it did in 2020.

  13. I gave up on the day and organized the garage winterizes machines. I'll hunt hard every afternoon this week. Scrapes are opening up and new rubes showing up. These are new from Thursday.

  14. Ok folks I’m getting to throw a Hail Mary! I got soaked to the skin crushing down golden rod with my wheeler, on the uphill side of my trash heap blind, where the deer were last night. I’m snuggled into my ladder stand to get a much better view. If they step out in the same place tonight I might be able to score. Good luck to you all out there in the rain this afternoon.

  15. Visibility has lowered in the last hour out here. The woods not as foggy as the open areas. Bit of drizzle thrown into the mix besides.

  16. Hey Grampy. I think they see this as the second best way to get guns out of our hands. And, they have already been successful at the "first best way" which is to get our "votes" out of our hands. Yes it is sad. And scary!

  18. The anti gun, left wingers, know the best way to get guns out of our hands, is to not have ammunition for those guns. Pretty sad isn't it......

  20. I’m in the exact same situation with my grandfather’s rifle. I have not found ammunition for it in over a year, are regret terribly not buying as many boxes as I could get my hands on when I first inherited it. If I do stumble over any out there I’ll be quick to let you know!

  21. I have watched some game taken on African Safari hunt videos and many times they wrapped the animal in a tarp and dragged it out, looked like it worked great. I have used many times a purpose made Deer drag harness that goes over your shoulders with a rope attached, you just pull like an Ox and it works pretty well, just used mine the other day. I bet it could also work even better tied to a sled or a tarp. Al

  22. Up to a few months ago you could go online, purchase and have your ammo shipped to your door, Hochul and her democrat cronies put and end to online ammo purchases. Gunbroker is a good source for hard to get ammo but you will have to get it shipped to an FFL Al https://www.gunbroker.com/Ammunition/search?Keywords=300 savage ammo

  26. A little after 4PM, several deer rolled into the opposite side of where that picture I posted is pointed. If I had been in one of the 2 ladder stands I have set up overlooking that field I may have had a shot. But, in the "blind" I was in all I could do is watch them bound in circles in the chest high goldenrod chasing each other in the fog. One eventually made it way so close it must have got tipped off something was up, because blew/snorted so loud it made me jump. If I had my scoped rifle I may have had a deer, but I had the shotgun with a red dot. So no shots for me, but at least there were deer.

  28. Sad to me as a New Yorker. Not just Hocul's and NY state goverment's stance on firearms, but the tax structure and labor costs. Hopefully they will offer job oppurtunities in Alabama to existing employees.

  29. A lot of people love the Jet sled. Personally I can't see something that's going to apply friction on the ground being a better alternative to something with wheels. I'll take a wheeled cart any day of the week. Better yet a wheeled cart with an e-bike even better. [emoji23] Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

  32. Will be after them every second available until the bell rings. Still have two of the three hit listers alive so will go all out to grab another. Those that say they don’t like “Hit Listers” either don’t have the gumption to go find a couple of the top of the class or have what it takes to take the best on one on one and let the chips fall where they will. Have no need to lower the standards and take a lesser buck. Have doe tags for that. Good luck to all headed to the end.

  35. Great timing to coincide with our country’s bicentennial! A declaration of freedom from tyranny! I believe divine providence led me back in time to help my family get through the war on Covid. Which in my opinion was/is actually a war on our country that nobody will admit. As much as I love the beauty of Upstate NY, because of the political corruption that has all but destroyed this state, it’s economy, and way of life, I doubt there is anything other than my love for my family that could have driven me back to NY after I escaped.
