  1. Actually, it is. Under a little known (And very forcefully politically hushed in places like NY and California where the State is king) doctrine called nullification. Municipalities refusing to enforce a law in great enough number will render the law invalid, and thus nullified. Jury nullification works in the same way. But it has been ruled that the representatives of the State have no responsibility to tell you as a juror about jury nullification, and since he Prosecution doesn't have to tell you, the defense is sort of de facto prevented from informing the jury. Just another case of the state looking out for itself. However, in Jury nullification, juries are to be the arbiters of fact and law, not just fact. Jurors can -- AND HAVE -- nullified unjust laws in the United States, and in many countries which use the common law system. So, remember that next time you're on a jury. YOU ARE THE FINAL ARBITER OF FACT AND THE LAW. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_nullification This is our last best hope in getting these idiotic laws recently passed overturned or just outright thrown out/retracted. Towns/municipalities refusing to enforce them. Or in the case where the State picks up the prosecution, juries refuse to find the defendant guilty, regardless of the amount of evidence against them. We as citizens of the United States have a CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY to disobey unjust laws. "When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty" -- author unknown " “A little rebellion now and then... is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government.” -- See Avatar

  2. i could use a tall one. see problem is there's nothing really in season right now unless you want to hunt squirrels in sub zero temps. Otherwise we'd all be in the woods and not on our computers.

  5. Instead of a wall they need to build an obstical course like on the tv show wipe out. If they can make it through we pay they'r college. If they dont they fall in a pool of sharks and we dont have to worry about deporting them. Just more politicians pandering to the Latino voters. The Libbers have been doing it for yrs. The repub's are just starting to jump on the band wagon. Its legal buying of votes plain and simple. I personally think its racists and would like to know why they wont pay for my white daughters schooling.

  6. They know that now, can't blame them for being cautious, but you're the one who made the statement about them tucking their tails the minute a law was passed....

  7. I would guess anyone who has a business is doing it for their own benefit, can't blame them for making sure they're operating within the law before going back to business as usual. As noble as it sounds, I can't imagine anyone jeopardizing their interests for a few bucks.

  8. Due to the NRA's decision to boycott the show I have changed my position as a life member and will not be attending the show as well. Also after seeing Reed's reluctance to change their position taking into account the opinions and concerns by an overwhelming portion of attendees and vendors I also have reservation about whether or not this was really just a business decision by Reed for the good of the show. I now believe that my original remarks and opinions were wrong... and understand that Reed's position is a blatant disregard for the 2nd Amendment.

  9. Are you kidding me? They suspended shipping to NY uintil they could get clarification on this "clear as mud" law. They freaking people the voted on it ddin't even know what it said or meant. How do you think their business would have held up with some weapons charges against them. It took them 5 days to clarify the legality of it. Get real

  11. Well after a long season of hunting with a bunch of ups and downs the season finally came to a successful end. After many long days on stand it finally came together like we all hope it does. It was Dec 27th and my brother John and I were perched high in our stands overlooking spots that we had been getting lots of trailcam pics over the last few weeks. I was watching the group of 5 does which have been in the area all season feeding out in the open and slowly working my way. I had no interest in them as I already had a doe and a 7 pt in the freezer but watching them was a nice way to pass the time as the season was winding down. Today I had one thing on my mind and it was to take one of the nice bucks that had been eluding us all season. At around 3:30 I looked to my left and saw a nice buck quickly walking down one of the trails that the deer like to use. He was going to walk right into the open but he was cursing. I quickly turned on my camera and pointed it in the deer’s direction. As the deer got into the open I quickly made a noise to stop him and sent an arrow his way. I watched it disappear behind the buck’s shoulder and a feeling of excitement and accomplishment came over me. I called my brother John who was hunting near by to help me recover the buck. We quickly found my arrow covered with good blood, we were off to a great start. Once John and I started further down the trail we realized that the blood trail was almost nonexistent. We looked until dark and found very little. We decided to head back to base camp to meet up with our buddy Charlie “The Bloodhound”. If anyone can follow a blood trail it’s Charlie. We tracked for about an hour in the dark following a sparse blood trail. Then all of a sudden we were back where we had started. It turns out that in the dark we got turned around without realizing it and were heading the wrong way. At this point I was starting to second guess my shot placement, was it as good as I had previously thought? We decided to call the search dogs to help. The dispatcher said he would call me back in about 20 minuets. In that time we started back down the blood trail. After another 15 minuets of tracking I got a call from the person with the tracking dogs, but at the exact same moment I heard Charlie say “There he is”. Finally I thought as I rushed over to see where I had hit the deer. Just as I thought it was a good shot. As we field dressed the deer we notices that the arrow had caught both lungs. The deer must have clotted up quickly leaving little blood to follow. I’m extremely happy with this buck and had it not been for my brother John and Charlie helping me track him I don’t know if I would have ever found him. It was a great way to end the season and it was the latest point in the season that any of us had ever shot a nice buck. That is until John hit the woods on Dec 31st but I will let him tell that story….

  12. http://www.backwoodshome.com/blogs/ClaireWolfe/2013/01/23/guns-grassroots-and-unity/ And it seems that even some members of the formerly wishy-washy corporate gun crowd have gotten the message that gun owners are both united behind a solid concept of their rights and not to be trifled with. Reader F. alerts me to an ongoing “situation” on the east coast. Reed Exhibitions announced just a few weeks before the big Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Pennsylvania that all ugly guns would be banned from the event. Perhaps UK-based Reed believed the hype about “widespread consensus.” They shoulda done a reality check first. No sooner had they announced their crippling of the show when exhibitors started walking out en masse. Most of the drop-outs are small businesses — many of them with little or no relationship to ugly guns. They make duck blinds. Boats. Camping gear. Spices. Archery equipment. Knives. But out they went — even though, for many of them, the ESOS show can make or break their profits for the year. Big boys went, too. Cabelas — a full sponsor of the show — was among the first to pull out. Then went Ruger and Smith & Wesson. TV show hosts said, “No thanks!” The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation said goodbye. Even the NRA, never known (except in the MSM) for its hardline attitude, dropped out. (Reportedly both the NRA and the NSSF had worked pretty hard to get Reed to change its tightly knotted little corporate mind.) One after one, the exhibitors and sponsors stated, “We must be united in our support of the Second Amendment.” No more divides between the engraved-shotgun/sporting clays crowd and we more grubby gun owners. We’re all in — or we are OUT.

  17. Personally, it doesn't matter to me in that situation. As long as it was a gun or carried the realistic similarity, the intruder runs the risk. Intruder is still in the house and the owner has no egress, even in NY.

  18. The Hudson Valley chapter was squarely behind Mandatory AR. Nationals statement is not so concrete. "Some hunters love them, others hate them, but you can rest assured all have an opinion of them – we’re talking about mandatory antler restrictions. Antler restrictions do not equal “Quality Deer Management.” Rather, antler restrictions are a strategy to protect a specific age class (generally 1½-year-old bucks) or classes of bucks, and protecting young bucks is only one of several important features of Quality Deer Management. Many antler restrictions have been employed including point, spread, and beam-length requirements as well as Boone & Crockett score. All restrictions have advantages and disadvantages. In general, QDMA prefers the voluntary passing of yearling bucks to mandatory antler regulations. However, we recognize that antler restrictions may be justified in some situations to achieve specific deer management objectives. Regarding our position on specific antler restriction proposals, QDMA examines each on a case-by-case basis and applies a three-part test." The GRST-QDMA is no supporting mandatory AR and is striving to take the route of education. If they ever change their position I will no longer be involved.

  19. They certainly don't... I think when they say "directly affected" they are talking about those that would not have been able to display or sell those guns... when in reality their decision affected the better portion of their attendees and vendors..the ones that felt their 2nd Amendment Rights being infringed.

  22. How does the Optima fit the tradition of the muzzleloading season? (I also use an inline) but with the legalization of Sabots and inlines it increases the effective range of the muzzle loader as well as making it easier to use in the woods. (by the way, kudos for answering honestly, since you knew where I was going)

  24. Antis. The pros are not forcing anything on anyone, only advocating for the choice of archery equipment. Allowing crossbows does not force anyone that doesnt want to use one, to use one. Cant say the same for the anti's argument of not allowing others to use the form of archery equipment they would like to. Ohio and other states that already allow crossbows are the proof in the pro-side's pudding.

  25. Police CHIEFS are political appointees that get where they are by kissing the azzes of the elected officials they serve. Do you expect them to say anything that would go against their political benefactors? Of course not. They won't bite the hands that feed them. The line officers, on the other hand are more free to speak honestly, and they do not support gun bans against law abiding gun owners!

  28. Hi Joe...Is it going to be for shooting or cleaning? If you are shooting off it you need to watch where your sling stud comes in contact with the front "hanger hook". On recoil it could mess with your impact on target?? Also, if shooting off it make sure you round off all sharp edges or you'll get a gash or two! Nice project! We'll need pics of the completed deal............

  29. You may be correct but NY has record of raiding these funds they are not in a locked box. Then there are the ancillary effects of fewer tax dollars generated by the sport. If the objection to a boycott is that it would adversley affect the sport I could support that argument but if the argument is because someone did not personally want to give up a year of hunting in NY then I find that argument a little shallow. I myself plan on hunting VT or Ohio. I choose to support a state that supports my rights and does not take them away by fiat.

  32. Man, we made Kip Adams drive 90 miles for nothing... We've got Joseph here to tell us what Kip said and spin it just to try and get a dig in. Obviously QDM's own statement is not currently supporting mandatory restrictions. But they do support passing up 1.5 yearling bucks and I'm fairly sure they want to see more mature deer in the herd. I too simply want more mature deer and whatever method helps that I support. I've said it before but I don't think AR's are the best answer but something needs to change if you want a different herd and NY seems to currently have the worst of all regulations. But if you were listening you'd have to admit Kip did not say AR's were useless in 5 years. He was actually speaking about the success and popularity PA has had with AR's and it seemed pretty clear to me that he said AR's would not be needed in the future IF more and more people voluntarily pass up young deer. Education is a smarter way to evolve NY's deer hunters and I think if QDM successfully makes hunters smarter, they will find themselves passing up young deer. Sounds good to me.

  34. Was just watching Hannity on Fox. He stated something I have been saying for the past week or so. After viewing the clip with Cuomo going nuts, expaining the new safe act, Hannity says "at least he will never be president." There are many states that unlike ours, that support the 2nd amendment, fervently..

  36. What you say is true about society's breakdown.. but I am referring more to how some immediately used Sandy Hook a springboard to an agenda, when they should have been focusing all their attention on what could be done to aid those affected by the tragedy... when people are in trouble our first instinct should be to spend however long it takes to help them with the cross they now have to bear... not exploit them for personal or political gain. That is a lack of humanity in my eyes.

  37. It would be disrespectful no to question any of this... while the families grieve it is the duty of the people, the media and the government to get the details correct... if there are inconsistancies then questions need to be asked... you forget that the parents only know what they are told by officials as well.. lets hope for all our sake that nobody is withholding or giving misleading information about what happened... one thing this really proves is that there are those that would trust the media and government officials without question... fortunately there are still some that dare to keep them accountable for what they say and do... the disrespect here comes from those that continue to make the tragic death of children into a battle about guns when it is really about our lack of humanity.

  38. It was for me , they wouldn't ship me .452 deep curls or .452 XTPs along with sabots. I commend them for the email sent , but truly wish they would have known the facts before not allowing us customers to place the orders as we have done for years. With in ten minutes of the denied order from Midway USA I placed a order for the same bullets from Powder valley { they must have been aware of the new laws } then Cabelas for sabots both with no issues. I actually got the sabots 4 days ahead of the due date from Cabelas. Steve

  41. The answer to that is they don't do anything different, really. I don't think there is a state out there east of the Mississippi with such a vast area similar to that description in land size. In that part of NY, it really is the proving ground, and its a reason most people refer to it as "great challenge for a wily mature buck." Remember, all of the National Parks out west would fit within the AP. It's very unique in a sense. More and More, NY should be broken and managed into threes - Western/Central, Dacks, and Catskills on downstate (with distinctions for LI, etc.). Heck, I'd even go for two, including the Dacks and W/C NY if NYC and it's surrounding counties let us form West New York state, lol.
