  1. I would have to give up the gun, I really love the challenge of a bow. Would be real hard in the ADK but most deer I have shot where less than 60 yards with many in the 30 yard to a few feet range so bow would work ok IF I can get to full draw without being noticed. Love my guns but it almost feels like cheating sometimes.
  2. Best part is being able to laugh about it, good post!
  3. No crossbows allowed and Nassau is still off limits for hunting. We have some brutes but like stated before they know how to avoid the public hunting spots. Private land is the best bet at getting one of these brutes. And if you think no hunters are present on Long Island try getting a reservation on public land October 1st and you will see we have plenty of hunters putting presser on the deer. Like stated above the biggest issue is access. I cant show pics but the deer I was after was shot 2 years ago and measured 167, we do have some brutes but seeing them on public land is rare especially during legal shooting time.
  4. We are working on setting up a target for broadheads. I have one you can shoot 25 yards but the longer distance is in the works at this time and should be done well before the season. If you want to shoot 25 yards I can take you to the club and then when we get our other target set you can test it out at longer distances. Let me know if your interested. Suffolk Archers I will probably shoot Monday if you have time and want to check it out. (Sunday looks like a rain out.)
  5. Great chain of lakes! Love the pike and small mouth!
  6. Good luck with it, looks like its in great shape. Flip it upside down when not in use and it will last a really long time. Next we need to see pics of the fish, good luck, get the big one!
  7. Thanks for all your service throughout the years, good luck in your new adventures!
  8. Just more liberals looking for hand outs.
  9. They come into Hell Diver pond just at dusk, typically looking for rabbits. (A few rabbits in the area tried to snuggle up to the fire when they came in.) I tried to get one but he busted me before I even had a chance to draw on him. Otherwise like many have stated they are not very abundant in that area. Typically the yote would come in on the left side of the driveway (As you enter.) area by taking the road into the campsite before Helldiver on the same side just east of Helldiver. If you the wind is right you can park in that spot and still get the yote, it is a short road but has a curve to hide the truck. Best bet would be to try Helldiver with bait just at dusk or even the field by the T. They do roam that area and a good rabbit in distress should get you some action, again best of luck!!!
  10. Best of luck! Hope you get 1,000,000 miles!
  11. That's some great shooting Otto! Keep up the good work.
  12. I'm more of a meat-antler kind of guy. Lets argue about that for days, lol. I will check back in a week or so to check on your progress on this matter, I expect at least 10 pages so get to work.
