  1. Everything is all set and ready to go, good luck everyone!
  2. When I don't recognize the number, I usually answer "Frank's Septic Service, You poop it, we Scoop it". Or "Frank's Pizza, take out or delivery?". My name is not Frank..... I did sign up for call block on Time Warner, now Spectrum and that cut down the number of calls significantly. As a matter of fact, hardy anyone calls anymore.....
  3. Last year I spatchcocked my bird, marinated in fridge for two days, applied dry rub, and then grilled it. It was pretty danged good. I took the left over pieces and tore off all the meat and made turkey and wild rice soup. That was pretty danged good too! Hoping to repeat that recipe in a couple weeks.
  4. Happy Easter to all! We are planning a day of eating and drinking! Challah bread French toast, homemade raviolis with veal meatballs, roast lamb, ham, plus sides, then riccotta pie and chocolate eclairs. All with homemade wine and finally a chase of bourbon. I should be in a food and liquor coma by 6 pm.
  5. I have never used Rid-X in the 25+ years I've had septics. But I am pretty religious about pumping it out every other year, and especially before a extra large family event like a graduation party or something like that. The above tips are good ones too.
  6. According to this week's Outdoor News, it is actually now a Budget item, not a legislative item, which means if the budget passes, so does this. It will be much easier to pass if it is a small part of a big budget.
  7. Congrats Below, born on my birthday too, nice!
  8. I just googled that this weekend and good instructions s are easy to find. If you put two within a few feet of each other the wrens can go in one and bluebirds go in the other. They work it out somehow. Also you should be sure to space the bluebird houses about 100 yards apart, there is even competition amount the bluebirds for nesting sites.
  9. Thanks everyone, had a great day at work and a wonderful dinner with my wife and daughter. My favorite Rhubarb pie coming up next! Blessed in many many ways and very grateful for it!
  10. I've been using the Tabasco brand mix, but I add a couple of dashes of hot sauce, a very small pinch of salt and a sprinkle of ground pepper. I use regular bar vodka, but I have a bottle of Absolute Peppar, which takes the heat up a notch.
  11. My Etna is almost always throwing lava. I wouldn't cancel a trip to Sicily, ever! My father grew up within a few miles of the crater, and I've visited several times. Unless your destination is very close to the crater, I wouldn't worry. And if it is, won't your parents and family need your help?
  12. I had two boxes I put up late winter last year, both had nests in them within a few weeks. They do like the cedar chips in there. I bought a bag at a pet shop, looks like I'll have a lifetime supply! I have the tin for the coon guard but have yet to cut it out and put it on the post. Not a bad project for this evening.
  13. I know this is true of larger trees, and probably true of seedlings too......Don't push the mulch right up to the bark, it will encourage rot and kill the tree. You want to make a little volcano around it.
  14. My friend made pastrami out of goose breasts and it was SPECTACULAR!
  15. maytom, I've always had the same success with he cheap folding ones, as any of the hard plastic types. Just my personal experience.
  16. I've never been able to get through the whole rainbow bridge poem, even years later it chokes me up. Very sorry for your loss. Hopefully you will be ready and willing to take on a new pup soon. Always a joy to see new life!
  17. I'll be following this topic. Always something to learn from others experiences, especially their failures. Thanks for sharing yours.
  18. If you can, get this book. It is probably one of the best training books out there.
  19. Venison tenderloin with Honey Chipotle seasoning, served rare with Horseradish sauce. Emeril Lagasse Venison Stew, with a dash of horseradish sauce just because it was sitting there on the counter. Chicken wing dip with homemade chips And my wife just brought out chocolate brownies with peanut butter topping. All washed down with Luaganitis IPA Happy, happy, happy!
