  1. I actually just planted some WW yesterday after work. Not realizing we had a bunch of rain on the way. I'll overseed a big perennial mix into it next week. and more WW into my beans then as well. Im not one to use fertilizer(b/c im cheap lol). I use previous crops to help with future plantings(crop rotations) but I would use triple 15 or triple 19 at 150#/acre. But that is just me, and again, I rarely use fertilizer. WW loves nitrogen as well. And i believe if adding N to your WW planting, it is best done at time of seeding
  2. Wouldnt that be nice! Im sure their DNR or DEC work for/with the sportsman more than this state ever thought of.
  3. Depends how deep the snow is I have to trek through. Temp doesnt usually bother me, but depth of snow does.. I like the coldest days but, not for more than an hour or two unless im getting up and moving around to help keep warm. Not a fan of sitting in a tree and freezing the whole time anymore lol Something about getting dressed up big and bulky for brutal weather sits, is just not comfortable anymore..
  4. There are 3 places I like to purchase my food plot/habitat seed from, and 2 of them are in WI. I see a lot of pics of their deer and habitat. Most of their customers are local to them so I get exposure of the state through their website, and FB page quite often. Makes me want to go there and see for myself. lol. I would have to think they must have good soil over there, just like the rest of them top states. I also think there is a section or sections in many states that produces B&C bucks year after year, Not just these listed. Just depends on how big that section or sections are compared to the size of state and or its deer densities. When trying to achieve top spots anyways... For example our Finger Lake Region. It produces B&C bucks every year.. where the rest of the state is much harder to find B&C bucks.. Sure, hunter densities and their motives have a big impact on that too..
  5. I always heard the same, a few years back. The more i do a little digging and watching.. Wisconsin has been very impressive over the years. Not sure how their deer densities are, but the quality of bucks seems top notch.
  6. These are just awesome! makes me want to load up the family now and start trail riding and enjoying this with them. thanks for sharing!
  7. Its all a light downhill slope so it runs off, but i have underground springs and the water just sets and it stays muddy until it begins to dry out some. Last year too dry, this year too wet lol.
  8. I feel the same way Steve, the less i have to carry the better.. for many reasons lol. Think i may try the standing approach as well. Sitting down seems fine if you can cover the whole range of where you can shoot without having to move or adjust for the shot. Thanks Steve
  9. That is crazy, I thought NY was getting too much rain everywhere. My guess was wrong. I over seeded a 1/2 acre soybean plot with winter wheat yesterday. and to my surprise we got 2/3 of en inch rain last night. PErfect, hope the rain did its magic quick, because the turkeys picked most of my overseeded fall blend off the ground a few weeks back. Dont think my brassicas are gonna make it through the damp soil spell. If i can, ill try and put some urea down in hopes but, i dont think it will help.
  10. I just heard about the rabies aerial drop the other day. The article I read, was more along the lines of "what if" your pet got into them.. seemed to not affect pet sunless they consumed quite a few.
  11. Sorry for your loss sir, Your dad sounds to have been a great man to be around.
  12. Sorry should have cleared that up. Yes sitting on the ground with my turkey vest/cushion. I thought about a small chair but didnt feel like carrying it. my buddy has the super nice tenzig with kickstand. which i cant afford lol. I just really like the idea of the guys on some of these forums that are standing and calling. Just curious if anyone else stood when calling. a few times we have had dogs within nearly arms reach around us from the opposite direction but cant get shots off, hit downwind and are gone fast. Last winter, a yote came running in after dark and stumbled over my buddies legs while it came in to the distress!! Talk about almost scary. Seems maybe standing there might be better chances Yes I plan to hunt during deer season on and off. Mainly early season first few weeks, if i dont have any good bucks patterned. I have a couple spots that are gold mine for early season coyotes. Just wont hunt in my good buck spots. Get on them coyotes before they get smarter and scent of the people/hunters wandering in the woods. Plus the younger ones typically come in, since they are inexperienced. Plus the weather is a bit nicer.
  13. So I am getting back into the predator calling game.. Season is fast approaching, and I think I'm more excited for this than deer hunting. Had a few questions, and looking for opinions.. why why not's.. During the day when calling I sit down with a harris bipod facing the direction I expect them to come from.. etc. But for after dark, does anyone stand with a nice sturdy rest/tripod of some sort when calling, instead of sitting? I have been seeing a lot more people standing when night hunting/calling. Ive been thinking it would be easier to scan, and possibly react on an incoming vermin compared to sitting down if needed, especially from the opposite direction... And for those who sit, what rest do you prefer? An attached bi pod or a well built swiveled type tripod setup? Just curious, either have to invest in a decent back pack with kickstand still, or try the stand setup.. TIA Bryan
  14. Nice MAn! two of them would looks cool on my porch railing corners!
  15. the arrow in the picture was my first arrow, the second arrow(not in the pic) made that damage lol Still considered first shot daily though right? lol
  16. First arrow out of the MR7 I recently picked up from a member here's friend. This bow is tight and smooth!
  17. "She" identifies as a buck huh? lol
  18. Ive said the same, especially over food plots. I love getting a bunch of pics, but seeing the same doe with fawns or young bucks gets slightly old after a bit. The spypoint I won has buck tracker software built in. Throws bucks in a buck folder and categorizes them, turkeys into its own folder, doe etc.. or all in one. This cam is a cell cam though.
  19. Im a Rager! lol. Definetly not going another direction until they give me a reason to. I Have used them since they came out, and never had an issue with any. Probably have helped me a time or two with some shots that were off by a couple inches. I've used the Hypos for 3 years now, IMO its Rage's best head. Very strong, very sharp tip, perfect "slip cam" design with very minimal energy loss.
  20. I love involving kids, I have a rock plot as well if they are still excited? lol
  21. Checked mine again yesterday, they definitely need to dry out fast before theyre all dead. I will broadcast Wheat or rye with balansa clover as well asap.
  22. Nice, as long as they keep away from the camera! lol I've had more bear than usual on cam this summer as well, Neighbors have seen more also..
  23. Just bought enough non oiled hemp rope to make some 6 mock scrapes. Hope to get them out this week. First time trying the rope..
  24. Gotcha, that was my only guess. Seeing how the plants looked. I thought you were getting numbers of some sort from samples. Lol. Ive got a plot of short, very wet and yellow looking brassicas. Hoping they dry up some soon.
  25. Looks great! I just moved into our new house, and have to find out how to mount my deer and i am really liking this for an idea!
