  1. Great information WJ. Especially for the longer range shooters. The majority of my shots at deer is under 100 yards. And many are 50 and under. Using this set up for zero would have me aiming too low, to hit vitals. As well as I have been conditioned over a lifetime, to look for the center of the reticle, when picking up quickly on a close deer that just pops in. I want the center of the reticle to be on that deer, and that my POI corelates to where I aim! Any other way would certainly mess up my simple mind, with complex computations in the heat of the moment. But that's just me! Others may not be nearly as simple minded.
  2. Great Thread. My wife and I are currently house hunting for our "forever home". One of the things we want is central air. But.....not a lot of the homes we have seen so far in the area, have AC. So a Mini Split could be a viable option for us to have installed, once we move in. Window units are loud, and a pain putting in, then taking out twice a year. Plus the fact of having another heat source in winter is an added bonus. I'll be following this to see other comments.
  3. Jerry, our only realistic recourse to the situation you mentioned, would be to give up all that the authorities came for. Then go through the courts to try and get back what was taken. The courts go by the constitution, and laws introduced by, and passed by politicians. Politicians are voted into office by the people. People are misled by false speaking politicians and the biased media on both sides. Who look to change the constitution with more laws, to fit their political or most fashionable agenda at that time. In other words, once they are gone, they are gone. Because we did not vote in the right politicians to support the constitution.

    Podcasts

Please forgive me for being old and somewhat out of touch with all this new stuff. But what is a Podcast? A type of radio program that you need to pay for?
  5. Sorry to hear this Rob. She was a beautiful dog. You and your wife gave her all the love she deserved. And in turn she gave you back more. That's what dogs do. She'll be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge, when it's time for you to meet again.
  6. That is a great picture. What an awesome day that was!
  7. My buddy wooly. Cabin Fever, with a bunch of traps we bought. Our first coyote that we caught using one of those traps. A coupe of scrappers. An owl that wanted it's picture taken on a foggy night. A good sized bear from the same cam on the oak ridge. Sunset, on a fine November bow hunt. My god daughter, with Xola the wonder dog. Her first solo blood tracking find. She learned her lessons well! My grandson on the 270 Sako, it was a very cold deer hunt. Last buck when the Sako barked. Taking kids fishing. A Sarotoga Lake fat belly. Or 'bellies'....... And last, but certainly not least. Hunting with the awesome Mr moog, with my lifetime hunting partner, and his fine WNY buck! Culvercreek helped to skin this buck! Great thread! This is what makes this site so awesome! Would love to see pages of this stuff!!! So C'mon everyone! Post em up!!!!!
  8. I too love old barns. On our trips to Vermont, I'm always checking them out. Some real nice ones locally too. We have been debating on taking the original barn, at the farm down. It was built in the 1830s. The main structure beams are now getting pretty sketchy. And we'd put in a large pole barn that would be more feasible for us now. But we just can't bring ourselves to tear the old one down........yet.
  9. First day of spring today! Been a long winter. Hope to get up to the farm for a walk in the woods, after a house hunting trip close by this morning. Want to get started soon on some deer stand relocations. Also prep work for food plots. What do you have planned for early spring this year?
  10. We've had fishers here in the hilltowns outside Albany 4H, for at least the past twenty years. They are quite common here now. And I enjoy watching them. One of the coolest critters in the woods.
  11. Great buck! Great mount! Looks real nice up there. Congratulations again Gary.
  12. And the great crossbow debate!!!
  13. Happy Birthday Team Hoyt!!! Happy Birthday New York Hillbilly!!!
  14. What??? Say it ain't so Eddie. I think you've done a damn good job here as a mod. Some of the crap posted on here meant to be funny, isn't freakin funny, it's at times, borderline disgusting! I know we all have different tastes, and I'm all for the right to express yourself freely. But this is an OUTDOORS and HUNTING forum. Plenty of other places to go see, and post, off color content. Also very aware that we all have different opinions on everything! To come here and debate issues, is what a forum is all about! And part of that, is some folks will take it personal, and feelings get hurt, people get mad, and things get out of hand. There comes a point when all that is left of the "discussion" is bickering back and forth along with name calling, page after page. It gets old fast!! That is when a mod should step in to get things back on track. And we all won't always agree with the mods decision! But it is their job to MODERATE! To keep the forum content more enjoyable, to the majority of those participating. I guess perhaps I'm just an old fuddy duddy, who would rather keep our content here at a PG rating. And I am certainly NOT perfect either. But a few do push the envelope a bit. I'm not calling out anyone! As I said, it is a free site. But when it does become a 'free for all', perhaps it will be time for a few more of us to move along. As some other long time members have done recently. To the detriment of the experience here IMO. I do honestly believe that each one of us, contributing positively, with give and take, is what makes HNY a cool place to visit. And there are a vast amount of great people here.

  17. Happy Birthday Dan!! All the best to ya on your special day!!!............
  18. Tampa Bay is spending BIG, to keep most of the core players that got them a championship.
  19. Yeah....I'd say ol' Clint is pretty normal. Looks like prune juice and a large pack of toilet tissue among the cart items!
  20. Time to update for 2021 turkey season scouting and beyond! Hope all your woods times, are good times! Will need a Mod to pin this.
  21. Happy Birthday and all the best to ya sir!!!
  22. That's some very nice leather work!! Dressed up those old knives and your hatchet nicely! Great work from Tom!
  23. Very cool idea for your two mounts! Love the rustic look. Looking forward to see it complete!
  24. Ya just can't fix stupid!!! If I was the one standing next to him, the range officer would have been the least of his worries. I've mentored many new shooters, and given many hunter ed classes. And suffice to say, any time I made a safety correction, that person never forgot it! Also hunted a time or two with idiots. But only once, as I never hunted with them again!!!!
  25. I haven't figured out what makes them so expensive either!
