Hang outside for a week or so.

Double tarped and winterized. Live from the water is done for me. Hardly went out this year. Been crazy busy doing other projects. But next year will be different! Almost ready to hunt now. Some of the best fishing of the year is yet to come. Good luck, and tight lines to all heading out!

Since the change to Oct 1st for the opener, I"ve done something with Mrs grampy, for "our time" the 1st Saturday in Oct. NBD really. Early on I only hunt in between known bedding and feeding. All rut stands are left alone until towards the end of Oct. The lake property is a BIG funnel between bed and feed. And it's not unusual to have a half dozen doe, and small bucks feeding within 20 yards there. (I've posted many pictures of this over the years) And there is sometimes a nice buck spotted too. This is where I hunt mornings, and occasional afternoons, for the first couple weeks or so. But surrounding hunter pressure, cuts down the numbers of deer seen pretty quickly here. Once things get ramped up a bit more closer to the rut, I move over to the farm. This is where my heart is, and usually where I'll have my best chance at a decent buck. So for me, I do hunt early on, and have killed some early to mid Oct deer. But the main event starts for me from mid to late Oct.

Really ramped it up, to get the honey do list almost done over the last month or so. On top of everything else, I've been as busy as a one legged man at an azzkicking contest! We usually go leaf peeping in Vermont, the first Saturday in October. Or we'll go to visit our oldest grandson at Franklin Pierce University, in NH. That is usually my last official Husband duty, until the season ends in December. Gotta say.....after all these years Mrs grampy is a real good sport about all my hunting time. And is my biggest supporter for new hunting gear! But she can get a little testy after I tag out, and start helping others get their deer!

Wife gave me a new Halo for Christmas a couple years ago, and I like it alot. No issues at all. Had a Bushnell for years before that. And it's still working too. Gave it to grandson. Both only used for bow season. As our gun spots are all within the hold dead on range.

Happy Birthday Spiffy!!!

Fine array of smokepoles ya got there Al ! Any idea what may have caused the misfire? Glad you had one of those handy-dandy gizmo's on hand to clear the load. I'll look into picking one up for myself.

Looks good! But....here's a tip. I'm a mostly from the ground hunter. Whatever windows that will be open when you hunt, leave open when you are not there. Otherwise it will all of a sudden appear to be a dark hole that wasn't there before. Close in deer will sometimes pick up on that. But leaving the windows down, that will be down, the deer just get used to it. Best of luck to ya!

I too used the NAP Spitfires from my Centerterpoint 370 and they flew great! This year I picked up some TenPoint Centerpunch heads. Supposed to be just like the Spitfires. They do look the same. Will give them a try hopefully this weekend.

Not as much as we used to years ago. But we picked up another used tractor this past spring, and did more this year. Also we are up to 53 head of beef cattle.

Potential...and then some!!! Great buck !

Our winter wheat, oats and turnips should be ok. Not a hard prolonged freeze. Will get out and start chopping some corn tomorrow. Only have about twenty acres of corn. And five acres will be left standing for the critters.

First thing I'd wish for would be..... to be half the deer hunter Lawdwaz is!!! Screw the dang glitter!!!

If team two wins, Jerky can keep the trophy. I don't think any of us would enjoy it more than him. I think we can come up something more suited to deer hunting for our guys.

No Thanks.......................

Yankee's are a streaky team this year. Super HOT, and then frigid COLD. No real in between with this team. Hopefully they will be HOT when it counts? That remains to be seen. Let's Go Yankee's!!!!

It may grow some? But won't fully mature before the first frost. Keep it for next year.

Years ago, (I first picked up a bow in 1978) I would shoot at least 100 arrows a week, sometimes many more throughout the summer and into the fall. And I shot ok, perhaps a little bit better than most of my friends that shot. Never was, or will be a great target shooter. These days, since both of my shoulders are not so good, I mostly shoot from 3 to 6 arrows a session. Two, maybe three days a week, since mid July. And perhaps once every other week or so, during winter in my basement. It's all about quality now not quantity. Really concentrating on that first shot. Holding form, and going down the pre-shot checklist. I feel I am still almost as good a shot now, with less arrows shot, as I was when I shot more. Was out last night in the backyard with a good breeze blowing right to left. Shot only three single arrows, with a broadhead at 10 - 20 and 30 yards. All three were in a two inch bull. That does not always happen! But it shows me I should be ok with this setup, and my shooting come October. My goal this year is to kill one more buck with my bow. Before my shoulders won't allow me to shoot anymore.

Awesome news! Now get ready to kill a deer or two! -
Never saw a deer even look down at a black walnut. Used to have a few BW trees, right in back of the house along the woodline.

Being from your grandfather, why not keep them for yourself Biz?
