  1. Sorry to hear this. But seems like the idiots have us outnumbered these days.
  2. Unequivocally....... NO ! Final Answer.
  3. Wishing you and the dream team, a safe and successful tracking season Tom!! And thanks for taking us along with you!
  4. Yes very well. I lived right around the corner from John and Jolanta. John was my tracking mentor starting in 1998. Great people. John is getting up there in age now.
  5. We were out doing our last set up checks. Found this. Anyone else find any yet?
  6. Both are cool critters! Hope you see them this fall! Be nice to see you get a homegrown bear!! And I know you'll see some big bucks!! Best of luck my friend!
  7. Welcome nice to have you join us! There are a number of LI and NYC hunters here. I'm sure some will chime in. Best of luck to ya in all your hunting adventures!
  8. My sincere condolences rachunter. They will live on in your heart. May you always smile when thinking of them. RIP.
  9. Way back when I lived in South Carolina, I was fishing a backwoods pond. I got chiggers on over 70% of my body! It was by far the worst itch I ever had!!! I put a dab of clear nail polish over every bump, as that is what my local buddies told me to do. It worked! They also said that chiggers like yankees better than them, as they didn't get bit at all!!.....
  10. There will be no noticeable difference in terminal performance, on deer between 150g and 180g bullets of the same composition. Just check the POI, to be sure your rifle shoots the same after the change.
  11. Yes they are! And Yankees got pounded again tonight by the Jays. They will be lucky to make it past the wildcard round. Definitely don't see a championship for them this year. But they just aren't playing good enough to go all the way. And it's a shame with the line up they have! The under achiever season!!! Starting to feel like a Mets fan......
  12. A hearty congratulations on a spectacular 2019 season! Thanks for sharing a very good story with us! I really enjoyed it! We live fairly close by. Sometime I'd love to drop by and see that moose!
  13. This is my guess as well. Happens when one or more milk ducts get clogged while she is lactating.
  14. What a great looking mount and buck!!! So much character with his rack! He really stands out in a crowd! As does the work, and artistry of WNY Bowhunter.
  15. Can we have a breakdown of who is on what team? Are teams to be numerically even? Hey Jerkman! Truthfully...... How many times have you "adjusted" the sock already?.......
  16. This is my observation too Brian. They have been feeding all summer. It is before all the chasing and rigors of the rut. Come December, bucks are worn out and looking to replace fat reserves, that were lost during rut activities. I have never seen a buck that was fatter, or heavier in late season, than he was in mid October. Just doesn't happen that way. Sorry wolc.
  17. Hang outside for a week or so.
  18. Double tarped and winterized. Live from the water is done for me. Hardly went out this year. Been crazy busy doing other projects. But next year will be different! Almost ready to hunt now. Some of the best fishing of the year is yet to come. Good luck, and tight lines to all heading out!
  19. Since the change to Oct 1st for the opener, I"ve done something with Mrs grampy, for "our time" the 1st Saturday in Oct. NBD really. Early on I only hunt in between known bedding and feeding. All rut stands are left alone until towards the end of Oct. The lake property is a BIG funnel between bed and feed. And it's not unusual to have a half dozen doe, and small bucks feeding within 20 yards there. (I've posted many pictures of this over the years) And there is sometimes a nice buck spotted too. This is where I hunt mornings, and occasional afternoons, for the first couple weeks or so. But surrounding hunter pressure, cuts down the numbers of deer seen pretty quickly here. Once things get ramped up a bit more closer to the rut, I move over to the farm. This is where my heart is, and usually where I'll have my best chance at a decent buck. So for me, I do hunt early on, and have killed some early to mid Oct deer. But the main event starts for me from mid to late Oct.
  20. Really ramped it up, to get the honey do list almost done over the last month or so. On top of everything else, I've been as busy as a one legged man at an azzkicking contest! We usually go leaf peeping in Vermont, the first Saturday in October. Or we'll go to visit our oldest grandson at Franklin Pierce University, in NH. That is usually my last official Husband duty, until the season ends in December. Gotta say.....after all these years Mrs grampy is a real good sport about all my hunting time. And is my biggest supporter for new hunting gear! But she can get a little testy after I tag out, and start helping others get their deer!

Wife gave me a new Halo for Christmas a couple years ago, and I like it alot. No issues at all. Had a Bushnell for years before that. And it's still working too. Gave it to grandson. Both only used for bow season. As our gun spots are all within the hold dead on range.
  22. Fine array of smokepoles ya got there Al ! Any idea what may have caused the misfire? Glad you had one of those handy-dandy gizmo's on hand to clear the load. I'll look into picking one up for myself.
  23. Looks good! But....here's a tip. I'm a mostly from the ground hunter. Whatever windows that will be open when you hunt, leave open when you are not there. Otherwise it will all of a sudden appear to be a dark hole that wasn't there before. Close in deer will sometimes pick up on that. But leaving the windows down, that will be down, the deer just get used to it. Best of luck to ya!
