Nice birds! Congrats.

I have never seen a rattlesnake at our place in NY. Here in Florida... that's another story. They are all over. Killed a huge one at Dismal years ago.

How about steel? LOL. Just busting' your chops because it's Friday... and I can!

Well, they don't really bury themselves (embed) into your skin. They do, however, insert their mouthparts into the host! So, sleep easy! LOL.

Being an Entomologist, I've worked with ticks for quite awhile. They are interesting little creatures but, alas, the Lyme Disease situation is real and troublesome. The comments on here are interesting and, for the most part, accurate. Using Permethrin is effective... it's what I use. Some other wive's tale repellents (such as the peppermint or citrus oil extracts) are fine, but may be impractical for large scale usage. In my experience, DEET isn't totally effective at tick repellency. Post-outing inspections and hot, soapy showers are definitely suggested.

My Dream Rifle Shoots Like A Dream!

Sako's are fine rifles! I have a 75 now, and have had 2 85"s (the last was a Finnlight in 7-08). They all shot well and the triggers are fantastic. One of the 85's did have ejection problems whereby ejected shells would bounce of the scope tube and fall back into the action. It would put scratches in the scope tube... which I did not care for. Apparently it was a design issue with the ejector at 6 o'clock instead of being rotated up. I originally used the Optilocks (with the polymer inserts) that worked fine but were heavy. They now have a one piece ringmount available that should be fine. Although the tapered dovetails limit mounting, I never had any movement issues. My 75 currently wears Talley rings and a Swaro scope... it's a great combination. Good luck with that beautiful Sako. I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy it. -
Because it is NY!

LOL. Mine gets a weekly haircut most all year long! Oftentimes, during the rapid growth times (summer), it needs cutting every 5 days or it goes crazy!
-
Sweet. Love the old ones. Great job. Congrats.

My wife has been my trusty hunting companion since the early 80's. She loves it... and so do I. -
The numbers (10-10-10 for example) represent % amounts in each bag... in this case 10% Nitrogen (first #), 10% Phosphorus (second #) and 10% Potassium (third#). Find something close to the soil test recommendations and do the math to get nearly equivalents. Generally speaking, lower Nitrogen and higher Phosphorus and Potassium are for new plantings. Nitrogen pushes green growth and is used later during the vegetative stages.

I had an old hunting buddy like that. He was a walking Cabela's advertisement.

I don't remember for sure. I'm thinking on the west side. I'll ask my older sister if she remembers where. My grandfather had a barber shop up there too. As I recall, he passed away sitting in the chair out front of his shop. I vaguely remember getting up there one Saturday and seeing him just sitting there. My parents ushered us kids away quickly so the situation could be handled. I was probably 7-8 years old at the time.

Good luck...sounds like fun. When I was a kid and lived up there, we had a cottage on Keuka Lake. Enjoyed our summer visits up there.

Clermont, Florida... The "Choice of Champions". Guess it's because many athletes train here for the Olympics. We used to be a grove town but most citrus is gone now (freezes, pest issues, and development).
