I remember brush hogging two little fawns years ago. I never even knew I hit them with all the brush noise until the next pass around. After the first pass I tried to pay more attention still got one more. 1/2 dozen passes later I heard a strange noise so I shut everything down. There was a tiny fawn laying between the tractor and the brush-hog. Ever since then I have avoided doing any brush hog work that time of the year.

Alrighty! .. I try to learn at least one new thing everyday and this is it for today..Next year I will have corn . lol. -
I probably would have separated them also. A buddy and I helped a 5 point get his horns untangled from a fence once. The buck was tired enough it was pretty easy and it helped that I am 240#s, lol and was able to hold him down while my friend cut the fence of his horns. The dismount was a little tricky but we felt pretty good. Funny thing was is that it was rifle season and we had just returned from our morning hunt,in the woods either one of us probably would have shot him.

Real nice!! I have the predecessor to that one in my K&K vengeance(been an awesome bow for me).. I have been reading the reviews on this binary camed version with some interest..Did you buy it local or on-line?

Welcome! I occasionally look across the river and wonder about the hunting over there.

I see your point.. For me my anchor point is mostly about my arm ,hand, and body position. I see that if one uses the position of string as there main point of reference they would need to adjust their arm and hand placements. But doesn't this start to lead one into becoming over extended if they were already using "proper" form ?
-
What you say is true....But .... If you add a 1/2" D loop to a string, it makes your bow FEEL like it has a 1/2" longer draw length. If someone has a proper anchor point that they are comfortable with, and that they shoot well with, they need to set their bow up with a 1/2" shorter draw length in order to maintain a proper anchor point.

Letchworth eh? Except for the occasional hill, my favorite place to hunt. Were the pictures taken in hunting zones or in the no hunting area? I hunt mainly swamps up here and I have yet to run into any cattails except for 1 little patch on the side of a hill go figure. lol -
Heck yeah. Even though I would miss the challenge of trying to target a nice buck.Just means I will have to pay a little more attention to the does and try to target some old smart ones.

If you live anywhere near a marina, gas without ethanol is commonly available at the marinas(at least around here this is true). It will cost a few extra bucks..but gives peace of mind.

I hate the very thought of being told I must buy insurance or get fined. But the alternatives are ??????? I would absolutely love to hear a solution. A solution that would work in reality not a theoretical or "perfect world" Let the sick die on the street?Back to survival of the fittest? Sounds good I have been blessed with being healthy and faster and bigger than most of my peers(of coarse I am getting older though). Not gonna happen ....we are paying already , like it or not. I have struggled on and off financially for much of my adult life(I am proud to say I paid my bills and received zero handouts). Yet, I have only had health insurance for a short time... If I was sick.. suck it up ...hurt , that is what duct tape is for . . But, the fact remains at some point my luck could have run out . I could have been seriously hurt or sick and it would have cost somebody $$$ it would not have been me(can't get blood out of a stone) I think this health care bill sucks..but I did not see any real alternatives introduced .

How would you rate these factors in setting a bow stand?
ncountry replied to regulat0r's topic in Bow Hunting
Depends on the the part of season. I will go with funnels (and of course wind direction is always #1) esp. during the rut. The last few years I have been hunting unfamiliar ground during early November on 1000s of acres of public land. I used the common hint, seen in most hunting mags. for using topographic maps and aerial photos.I would pick out likely funnels and camp out till noon. So far this has been working great (knocking on wood). . 50 yd wide funnels that can be covered with a bow are hard to find though.lol -
I mainly fish largemouths . In the past my favorite bait was a small leopard frog. Then I switched to rubber worms (I tend to fish a lot and release quite a few). There was a lot less swallowed hooks and caught fish too ...lol . Lately I have been using a salt impregnated senco style worm. They work awesome! The next best thing after live bait. They seem to hold on to them for a long time before they realize it is not real , making them a lot easier to catch. I cannot wait for opening day, I am tired of catching crappies, bluegills etc(well not that tired, still beats working)..and ready to go bass fishing. My boat is in the water, on the lake, and ready to go.

I picked the last 3 answers . Although, they do not explain all my reason to hunt. Early in the season(archery) I am not near so selective. Normally the 1st buck and or large doe that gives me an easy shot. After that I settle in for the season and wait for an 8 point or better. I can and have come close to sitting all season without harvesting an animal. I love the peace and quiet of the woods. It's the only time quiet enough to hear the ringing in my ears lol (that part sucks).

Whats best to plant in a secret spot?
ncountry replied to TeeBugg's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Where do you find the "secret spot " or "throw and grow" seed? I may have to try that myself. Lol my 1st thought ,on reading the title, was some illegal plants. That is what everyone in my area plants in their secret spots. -
My daughter (8)started taking karate ,and is really enjoying it. Tonight she moved up from her beginners belt to the yellow stripe. I figure ,at this rate she will have her black belt before she gets to high school . Between her black belt and me being big ,hairy and mean we should be ok. lol. Won't even have to break out the backhoe and gun.

DUDE......THEY are out there.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................somewhere

Would not surprise me. I know in my case , I suffer from most of those things from past abusive treatment(not archery related).Uuugg,, I strong like bull...dumb like ox ..lol. I can pull over 90 #s but I hunt with 68# and practice most of the year until august with 60#s. My back, shoulders ,and elbows hurt enough.Just because you can does not mean you should.

Another awesome picture!..Do you ever get any poor ones?

Dream With Me...
ncountry replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I would have to agree. I am sure I am in the minority, but my wishes were for no bailout and for things to get a lot worse. I think when a significant % of our population starts losing their homes ,incomes, food on the table... we might get off our butts and do something about this joke of a government it has become. Things started to turn around too quickly. Not enough suffering, and ever body went back to life as normal .A lot of bitchn and no doing. It amazes me some of the things our "leaders" say and do and we go along with because it is "our" sides view. -
Dream With Me...
ncountry replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
While I would agree the bailout was a colossal waste of money, I believe the math puts the $ /person around $2500-3000 . Much less than is often quoted in right wing spins. -
x2 on the encore...Love my Tc .....

I am curious .....How many of you that carry for protection live or grew up in a city or town ? Growing up here in the country ,I do not know anyone who carries a gun for protection. We carry a gun when we want to shoot at something ... a critter or a tree stump ..lol. Do not take this the wrong way...I'm not tying to pick a fight .just wondering if it is different backgrounds or maybe my friends and I are oddballs. Not growing up in a city I would be more apt to carry there(for protection) than in the woods.

I picked up one of these a few years ago in a combo.. It shoots lightfield slugs way better than it should. Shot a few deer with it .

THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..
ncountry replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Well said, greybeard.Imo .. I think what it boils down to ,if we all stepped back and looked at the situation, is this.... Do we as a society want to care for our friends and neighbors in their time of need. Or look the other way.... and go back to survival of the fittest. I think it is our obligation to help those less fortunate than ourselves given the opportunity . We either need universal health care of some sort(unfortunately it is going to have to be government run) or let the unfortunate die when it is their "time"
