  1. Pop the lungs and you have a dead animal with minimal damage. My butcher hates doing gun deer and will not be doing any this year, exactly for the amount of time he has to clean up blood shot meat , bow killed are much easier and nearly 0 loss of meat. Sick of complaints of I should of got more meat back..when he tells them well you destroyed a loin and a ham and a shoulder taking that frontal shot... here is the bullet I pulled out of its hip.....
  2. Save the planet less people..
  3. Can process my.own and have many times the older I get the less I want to do it, found a good butcher and have used him for years. Told me he is cutting way back and not doing deer this year.so he can hunt with his kids that are now old enough to hunt .. can't blame him one bit, So back to doing them myself.
  4. The original has approval not the booster so it's still not neasassary.as it has no effect on current strain. Cigarettes, chew all have fda approval.as well ,not to mention the hundreds of drugs that are subjects of current lawsuits. Take it if you want to protect yourself. That's it , don't force it in others or shame them into thinking it's safe..
  5. If not a color phase juvinal green, then it would be a juvinal night heron
  6. Looks like a green heron to me.
  7. Advantage is you will have a maintained trail including bridges if needed across your property, season is usually well over before trails open here . You also have nice easy access to the trail yourself and can enjoy riding in the winter with family and friends, the trail in deepnsnow becomes travel.corridor for all game. Many clubs gift owners dinner certificates, give a hand with chores.. as long as trail privilege is not abused the game simply moves a little and let's them go by, if by your dwelling you can request a speed limit. Clubs are usually most responsive to requests and take pride in running trail system.so no damage occurs to land . I would allow it and stipulate if it's messes up its gone.. better to make friends than enemy's imo
  8. Hickory nuts, acorns on oaks, apples, beach nuts, young clear-cuts for browse. Honestly I prefer to find cover changes as they are the travel.corridors from bedding to feeding..

    Deer Forage

My uncle in East Otto has oak so does Zoar Valley and chestnuts as well. Unfortunately most forests in ny are high-graded and oaks were removed leaving less desired trees
  10. Put nephew on a deer so he can take his 1st Put friend on a deer so he can take his 1st at 49 years old. Put guests on good stands so they can get deer. Put friends kids on good spots for youth hunt so they can have chance at a deer.
  11. When I built my house in 2006 to get a C.O. I needed a lawn so the entire lawn was seeded into bio logic clover. It's also become the reason for one of 3 rules at my place , no shooting game on the lawn! . The other 2 rules are story's themselves no cooking fried bologna or liver in the house, and if your 65 or older you can hunt out of the hottub.....

    Deer Forage

I get a kick seeing all the deer in fields after the season. Way More than the seasonal guys hunting would think after a tough year. 30 to 40 in a single field. A drive around the block 2 miles x 7 miles shows hundreds total out in the fields.. yet ask the hunters at all the camps and their numbers are down.
  14. Usually 1 day maybe part of another. Have a party in February, bring out snowmobiles and ski busees, bunch of guys down is easy . Then have bonfire snowshoe, ice fishing, skiing, sledding, lots of food, music the next day. Do it on presidents weekend lots of fun and saves the stands from wear and tear. They are then checked and cables , bolts ,straps replaced if need be before next season .I have stands from late 80s in use and are far superior to today's metal cheap stands as those were all welded aluminum. Mostly Loggy bayou, and api manufactures.
  15. I run 30 stands or so a year I start hanging them in july. And take them all down in February.
  16. Got up another 12 stands up in august, 3 left to do but will wait till logging is done end of month to prevent accidental hits.. 3.more cameras to get put out as well. Pretty.much set for season , no woods entry after.labor day for atv or scouting.. hard horns should be appearing any day now.

    Deer Forage

Deer prefer beech nuts over acorn anyway. If they have nuts you will see turkey squirrel and deer competing for the nuts.
  18. Couple of odd ones This buck looked similar to original post ,was held on by a tiny strip of dried velvet and mineralized horn. we looked close and it looked like someone had tried to poach it as horn had hole thru it witch caused it to break and fall in velvet.

    I remember

4 person to a party permit, bucks were allowed back then on them.as well, then doe only , then 2 people to a permit in the early 90s then only.one.. Having a blast on weekend before Monday opening day playing euchre, visiting other camps, other camps visiting ours, getting the cabin up to temp after a day or.two burning the open fireplace ( when the brick got hot it stayed so much easier to maintain heat) The allowance of compound bow users to use a release instead of tabs or.glove, then allowing fiberoptic sights, then lighted.. instead.of.your girlfriends brightest nail polish put on a brass pin. ..
  20. This is what happens when you are the police for a country for 20 plus years, everyone assumes they are safe , they don't need guns or know how to defend themselves.. much like what is happening to America recently .. I think most Americans would lay down to a regime change as they have become helpless and dependant on the government if that government failed...... same result
