I'll kick it off....

Are you ready for October 1st?

Hells yea! There is still 2 stands I'd like to move, I was planning on do that this weekend, however I broke my stupid toe. Going to give it another weeks rest and then see if I can get up there there the weekend before. If not I'll have to do it at lunch time that Friday I'm up there.

When are do you plan to get your first few days in?

I'm taking off the 5th and 7th so heading up for a nice 4 day bow hunting weekend to kick off the season.

Is your Bow ready to go?

Tuned and ready to go... I'm dead on @ 20,30, and 40... I just would like to get a few days in shooting my broadheads to make sure we are locked in tight. I'll check over everything this weekend as well (tighten screws, wax string, etc).

Yep, for the most part. I have to just shoot my broadheads to check them.

Sep 27th- oct 2nd

Bow is ready and good out to 65 yards with lots of practice!!! Spare bow is ready just in case I hit the string with a broad head like last year...

Might hit Roscoe on the way home IF I get lucky before Oct 1st... One can only hope!

Hope your toe heals John!!!

I've got all my stands ready to go and i will be taking off on Oct 1st.

As for my bow don't even ask. 2 weeks ago i noticed that the cable on my old bow was starting to Frey. This is the 3rd time this has happend to me in the last 3 years and the bow was about 5 years old so i decided to get a new bow instead of fixing my old one. I bought the pse evo and put my sight and rest on and brought it to my bowshop to have them set the nockheight and install nock points since i shoot off the string with my release. i don't have the time to sight it in being that my work schedule is crazy right now but that shouldn't be a problem since i have Sat and Sunday before the season opens to sight it in and practice from the stand. Then last night i was making sure everything was tight and ready to go with the bow and i went to pull it back and my arrows keep falling off the string when i am at full draw. I will be bringing it back into the bow shop tomorrow after work so he can install a dloop and i will also be purchasing a new release that is easier to use with the loop than the one i currently have.

I was very upset last night when i noticed this happening but i talked to the guy in my bowshop today and he said it wont be a problem and he will get the bow setup for me before next weekend so i will have to do is sight in my 30 and 40 yard pin and i will be good to go. Not what i wanted to happen two weeks before the season started considering i was all ready to go with the old bow and have been shooting all summer.

Gonna head to land Sunday before opening day. Probably camp out Sunday night and hunt all day monday. Only thing I need to figure out still is what to do if I get a deer early Monday morning and my partner wants to stay for the pm hunt. I hope to process my own deer but have no way of preventing spoilage if I can't take car of I immediately.....suggestions welcome!

Ready for October 1 . Stands are ready but I need to install a bow hanger at one of them .

Because of the drive , I usually alternate my hunting days or try to hunt close to home on the alternate day .

After shooting for a few weeks , I started shooting from the treestand . Okay at 15 , 25 and 30 yards .

I still have to get my backpack ready and change a couple of broadheads . Other than that , bring it on !

Ha. Ive already told my better half that whatever gets done before deer season gets done, whatever doesnt will wait unless it absolutely cant or will get done in the evenings if possible. We just bought a house, and Ive actually gotten almost everything that needs to be done, done. I just have to do a bit of work to the gutters, fix a little siding and trim a tree back off the roof. That stuff should be done this week. The rest is just unpacking and organizing.

Mind you, Ive only had time to get one stand site "tuned up", but I can work on stands during the early season still.

Am going on the 29th - Friday right after I leave my job in Plattsburgh, then 1 hour drive to my camp. Should still be able sit during for the night watch. Have been seeing plenty of deer, but we all know what happens when the season opens.....we'll see.

Hey Everyone! This is Louis Backlas/ Cross Over the River Outdoors. I just posted a new video to my YouTube channel that I though ya'll might get a kick out of! Have you ever used a decoy to hunt whitetails? If you haven't before you might want to start! I woke up one morning and look out my front window only  to find that my 3D deer target was in pieces all over the front lawn! A fired up buck decided to take his frustrations out on the target!  this took place sometime in November during the peek of the rut. Hope ya'll get a kick out of it!

      Hey All,
New to the forum, already missing the deer season and have curiosity to quell. This was a great non-typical I was chasing all season in a bow-only area of Ithaca. Anyone know or hear of a non-typical of this caliber being killed? I'll be out scouting for him aggressively soon enough. Thanks!

Hello folks. I'm a novice hunter from almost Central NY. I live amongst the cow fields about 20 minutes south of the ADK park. I'm here hoping that I can learn from those who know more than I do. That's probably most of you. LOL. This is my second season and so far I still have all of my tags. I have a rifle but I'm not comfortable shooting it in the area I hunt due to people being near. I'm hoping to fill at least one of my tags before Dec 19.
