DeerLogic
What's the best time to hunt before this storm that's gonna hit the east coast? Before or after?
Doc
Great question. It will be interesting to see what the answers turn out to be. I know that animals react to approaching lows, and seem to go on a feeding frenzy before storms. But also, since this one will be a bit of a prolonged event while it is here and will keep critters under cover for a while, there also may be a lot of feeding and other movement that will begin as the storm ends. So my answer is ..... your guess is as good or better than mine ... lol.

mac
I think next weekend and into Nov will be great after this storm. Huge low pressure system working thru and should be the cooler drier November air we have been waiting for. That said, get out there this weekend if you can

landtracdeerhunter
Might make for an interesting breeding season. Flood potential is high. Hope the outcome is not like last years mess from a tropical system, No matter when u hunt it, be safe. Sogaard
Before and after I'm with WNY for this one. Before, because they sense the incoming weather and will want to feed. After, because after they have been bed down for a day or two they will be hungry.
gfdeputy2
hope it is right through as I leave for western NY tomorrow for 1 week hunting camp picked a fine time for a Hurricane Edited October 26, 2012 by gfdeputy2
genesee_mohican
I think the best time will be after the low pressure passes and the barometer goes above 30.10. Combine that with the timing of Nov 2nd through the 8th, should be some great days to be in a tree stand all day. Before the storm may be pretty good too. phade
Maybe the Deerlogic software can help? I would think so. When the alerts start popping up, time to get in the stand.
DeerLogic
exactly!!!! DL is helping show us now, when the deer are moving. I have been out in the woods all week, and movement is staying pretty much the same. I don't think they have much to worry about with all the acorns. I have seen a lot more Buck Log alerts in the last couple days from Hunt Group members, so I hope this storm doesn't mess with the Rut to much. Big bucks are starting to move, would love for it to stay that way.
the blur
I think the deer go to shelters for the hurricane, and come out afterwards.
sweet old bill
prior to the storm hitting, should be lots of feeding and then they will go to heavy cover. I see being inland we are now forecast to get several days of wind in the high 20's and some level of rain. With these type of conditions, they are not for the weak of heart. Like me being in the 70's. I will wait out the storm and then go see if any of my ground blinds are still in the town of Franklin.
